I lived in Limassol in 1961til 1965. My youngest sister was born in Akrotiri Hospital in April 1963. I have many fond memories of Christmas's on Ladies Mile Beach, having bar b cues on Christmas day where the weather was really hot and sunny,I was nearly 8 years old when my family flew from Akrotiri back to the UK. My father's pride and joy was a 1958 Borgward isabella 1.5 litre Colour was yellow over white. The registration was AC377. Fun and good times were had from Limassol to Kolossi Castle and up in Troodos mountains.

Just like the sweet English kids and their gracious parents in our neighbourhood in Limassol, wonderful memories of pre-1974 Cyprus. The strong British presence in Cyprus in the sixties and seventies was exposing us locals to the best of Britain; those were glamorous times and it’s never been the same.
The most beautiful moment from your video was the birth of your son and he looks very angry 🤣🤣 in video and i read all the comment and realised how painful was this all for thousands of people and first time 2 months ago i went to varosha and i almost went to all streets and and was just imagining that what was it and what it is now. I really feel bad for all those who left and lost their places,houses etc. And that loss can never be made up.

Thanks Simon - after looking at many of the videos of Varosha as it is now, I looked through old family cine clips of our time there. They are predominantly the usual pictures of a young family growing up, but I put together this short video, trying to include just the clips which showed something of Varosha as it was then. We have been back since (as close as we could) and found it such a sad sight... We send our best wishes to the ex-Famagustians and really hope that they may be able to return one day...

Thankyou Mario - when I was doing this video clip, I just couldn't remember the street name. And yes, Famagusta beach was just out of this world. We were amazingly lucky to live right on it. Couldn't quite believe it! I've never found a better one anywhere....

66 we went from Akrotiri to Famagusta, Dad took my Gran Mum Sister and me there on a day trip.
