Excellent work on the rotten dashboard Mat, always fun guessing what was there and trying to reproduce it! and you did!

In the first minute I said " no way". I should have known better. Thanks for the update.

      If I wasn’t so tight with £, I wouldn’t attempt such things 😃

Christ Mat, that was a hell of a job of work you pulled off on that dash really well done for some top forming of weird shapes.
As for the spare, after what you pulled off with the dash widening that wheel well by in inch/ inch & half will be a complete piece of piss.
cracking video again this week, thanks for sharing - stay safe

Some nifty fabrication there! With all the outfits offering bulkhead work, you'd think at least one would be having a go at the dash. Mine is even worse than your starting point, I'm thinking of just making my own version.

If it's like the rest of your work on Kermit, the dash will come out mint👌🏻
Make sure you future proof it, unlike LR and if you're doing the heater tunnel like the OG dash, I'd line it in ThermaWrap or some other insulation to make the most of the heater.
I've ThermaWrap'd the interior of my Landy and it's made a decent difference.
      Cheers insulate Britain😜😂

I was reading a thread this week about a chap doing a steel version -but as I understood it it was a S3 dash just not foam covered. Have to say, I prefer the S2a dash. Never liked my defender dash - but didnt have it long enough to change it. The 'upholstery job has been a bloomin nightmare - so go steel or aluminium all the way - if you want a soft dash - wear a crash helmet !

Looks so much improved. I'm not a fan of pop rivets, and I'm sure that you are a better welder than you think and could have TIG welded the .9 mm if you wanted. But, as you say, it's going to be covered so what the hell. I follow Max's channel and look forward to seeing how he (and possibly Grandad) tackle the problem. Best wishes.

You guys are legends for me. I´m actually restoring my english friend Mark (RIP) and neighbour old Series 3 ex scottish Park rangers. You give me inspiration. I wish you live in France.

Well, your earlier short gave some idea of what was to come. You have surpassed yourself sir. Astonishing work on the dashboard. And you say your metal working skills are limited? In that case I wish mine were. Nice to see some engine compartment progress too. Always good to see Nat helping. Hope Amelie is good. Looking forward to the next installment.

Great to see all your progress and the repair to the dash was outstanding. Im wondering if your expansion tank is going to be high enough to get the air out of the cooling system but i can see why you've gone for that location, hopefully it'll be ok.

Its set so that the feed in is the highest point as is the 'over pressure' cap. Will have to wait n see how it goes. If it is a problem - a new home on the bulkhead might be in order. I havent sorted the 'heater' unit yet - I might set that with a bleed valve T while I am at it. Will have to see what happens when / if the heater returns.

You have a "delux" bonnet with the depression for the spare wheel.
    Problem solved

bugger that's a lot of rot, i thought that my old series 3 was a bit used to the visits by metal moths, But they must have nested in the dash on yours.

You’ll need another bracket on the overflow tank, it won’t last long with the vibration.

I was thinking the same thing. I may well look at another fixing point on it.

  • @bcbloc02

I would have put the air cleaner out front and the water tank over the motor. Never want an air intake drawing hot air on a diesel.

    • @lookcreations
      @lookcreations  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

The intake for the air is at present via the offside inner wing. Once the wings in place I might duct the air from the front to it. I need to see what space there is first though. Cheers Brian
