When I give a quote for power washing, that's the price. They don't even think of haggling, when they get fuel, meals, food shopping. What makes them think, they can do it with me, & the service I can provide?

I like to get far away from product comparison cause usually that still keeps them thinking it’s a commodity. The skilled trades are not so skilled anymore.

Well said and we in the construction industry get taken through the fire... And locked in... if they go to price only... Very difficult to bring them back to results based..

How does this work if your product only has one quality tier? Meaning like in the window example you can’t offer a mid range product or a lower end product

What if the competitor’s proposal provides all the solutions client needs and the cost is cheaper than what you could offer? What could you do next?

Nothing, they are bettter, move on

    • @IzaKing

There could be other ways to separate from the competition. Taking the example Jeremy used in home improvement two companies can offer the same solution and Company A may be cheaper but Company B offers a better product warranty, or maybe they have more experience, better reviews, or better financing terms, etc.
Once you identify how you can solve their problem, you can still probe to find what’s important to your prospect and show how you are the BEST OVERALL option in other ways. Unless you’re truly starting a new industry, you’ll never be the ONLY solution.
Finding out what’s important to your prospect so you can separate yourself should be apart of every process. I hope this helps @Erick!

If your competitor is cheaper and has thesame quality thenur customer should go to them

Really, And how would you first know that? And how many things have you had quoted to in your life where you had to choose... I usually choose on skill level and experience overpriced but that's just me. Some people have a different mindset about how they want things done and who they want to do it. If someone comes in and solves the problem in a greater way than another person, you would be a fool to go with the price that's lower just because it's lower. There's a reason things are cheap and there's a reason things are expensive. There's a reason people are good at what they do and there's a reason that people lie and are terrible of what they do. Knowing the difference is the key.

@alangwhiteTheBoss You said it yourself that you can't know the quality until the job is done. So you need to raise your iq. You should follow the details that the salesman is giving you and match them up with your other estiments. Going off price alone is stupid. You should go off of word of mouth and or reviews.
