*I said allen keys and meant open wrenches. Also, you can use the can opener as a flathead screwdriver. Woops.

Missed a few things. The "can opened" is just a bottle opened but the cutout circle is a chain pin tool. The tip is a flathead.
On the chain link tool, on the side is a chain link holder wire that pops off.
There's also chain pin storage AND a chain spacer holder built into the body.
The wrench goes on the short far Allen, not the long one.
The 8mm cap flips around to become a socket driver.
my alien 2 replaced a 20+ year old Bell multitool that was similar in design. Even tho Bell is junk, this tool has come in handy more times than I can count. It finally broke on me so here I am. Just got an Alien 2 and holy smokes.
My ONLY complaint is the lock. It definitely seems like a weak point and I dont think its going to hold up. Still even if that breaks, it'll be a solid tool.
I also agree heavily on the tire wedges. I will always keep a separate pair for the main juice. Nothing like catching glass in the middle of nowhere.

Hey, just wanted to provide an essential pro-tip for you or some of the people considering getting an alien 2, or one of their successors. You’ve mentioned at 1:44 that you can use the 15mm with the Allan key, but you can’t get enough leverage with it. I suggest you use the pedal key you mention later in the video because I’m almost certain that’s what you’re supposed to attach the wrench to to actually make it useful to take off your wheels for a flat.

I have an Alien II that I bought more than 10 years ago. I broke both tyre levers and lost some bits but it's still going great and I love it.

The tire levers are probably the achilles heel of the Alien-2, but even still, it's such a solid piece of gear!

I ride/race dirt bikes, my mom in law bought me one of these a while back, and I tossed it on my work bench. Just picked it up, and figured I’d see what it was actually for and how it works. It won’t work for most dirt bike fasteners, but I do ride a mountain bike lol.
    Thanks for the video. C442

I'd assume most dirt bike components are a little beefier, but this thing can do wonters on a mountain bike!

Thanks for this, I've owned one for awhile and now I know how to take it apart LOL. :-)

Thanks for the vid, confirms that I'll be buying one of these. You seem pretty high in the video though!

My favourite too. I can't get my pedals off with it but can do everything else. :D And of course I have two of them. You forgot the flathead screwdriver on the can opener and should perhaps have shown how the two sides operate together for the chain tool. And there's space for quick links, I guess?

You can get a replacement for the adjustable bit of the chain tool too!

The pouch that came with mine doesn't have a belt loop. 😭😭

    • @JaydenEricBeaudoin
      @JaydenEricBeaudoin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Nooooo! Though I have to admit, I don't think I've ever used the belt loop.

Pin broke on the chain tool first time I used it. Topeak were not helpful when I contacted them. Parktools multitool still going strong after 15 years use

That's a drag. I've had two and the pin tools are still holding strong. Maybe it was a bad model?

@@JaydenEricBeaudoin maybe? I resent having to buy a replacement pin though. I had hoped they'd just post me a replacement pin. I've even got a cheap Chinese chain breaker that's never broken the pin

Damn dude, how about showing some of it in action, especially the chain breaker tool? I can’t just take your word for it, particularly when you come across like you’re stoned. Do better next time.

Great suggestion! When I made this video I was pretty new to video making, and if I were to redo it I would definitely incorporate some footage of the tool getting used.

Thanks! I try not to make things too too long - at least it's not a 10 minute video peppered with ads and fluff ;)
