    So.... I think all of my problems with the Weeks in my Pros and Cons video were fixed in the english version... What do you think? Am I too hype? Do you have a preference? Let's discuss!

      i think they need to get rid of the quotes. they take up space and are not useful

    The "references" pages at 23:32 is a checklist in case there is an emergency (like huge earthquakes/landfall/tsunami/etc) and things that you need to prepare. The page next to it is a place to fill out the details of the evacutation center so when the emergency occurs, you will know where to go. 😊

    222 in Japanese sounds like cat’s voice. According to this, 22 of February is cat’s day in Japan.

      the Japanese onomatopoeia for cats is "nya" or "nyan", and two in Japanese is "ni" so "ni ni ni" kinda sounds like a cat, that's more or less what I know.

    Thanks for the video! I wanted to see a side-by-side comparison but didn't want to buy two Hobonichi Weeks.
    9:05 - Name of the month in (modern) Japanese is the number of the month followed by the character for month. For example, February is 2月 (ni ga-tsu). The first of the extra two lines in the Japanese version is the official Japanese calendar year which corresponds to the reigning emperor. Naruhito acceded the throne in 2019 and began the Reiwa (令和) era. 2023 is the fifth year of the era so it is 令和5年. It's complicated so that's why there's a conversion chart (age table) in the back. On the last line, the two characters next to the shorthand of the English month is the traditional Japanese name of the month.
    9:43 - These are rokuyou, and it indicates how auspicious that day is. Most people ignore them but are sometimes used to plan wedding days.
    10:47 - On the Japanese version, it's the name of the holiday.
    13:19 - The extra characters under the moon phase are rokuyou.
    From the Hobonichi website regarding the reference pages in the back:
    Solar Terms, Emergency Preparedness, Age Table, Conversion Chart, Getting the most of Hobonichi
    Favorites, 365 Days Check-Off Sheet

    Great breakdown! I got both Japanese and English Weeks, fearing that they might be different in ways like the Original and Planner A6’s are different. It’s nice to see they are so similar. Hobonichi listened and did it right, I truly believe.

    • @RachelleinTheory
      @RachelleinTheory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I super agree! The big differences between the english and japanese A6 are the reason I went back to japanese this year. I love all the changes they made with the weeks.

    I wish we could get a weeks where the month starts on a Sunday and the weekly view is still a Monday start.

    • @RachelleinTheory
      @RachelleinTheory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      NGL Jill this is bizarre to me haha. It confuses my little brain if it doesnt start the same way. 😂 BUT I've heard the Aura Estelle Weeks has this pattern, if you are into it. It's also TRP and small, I think. I'm also going to be reviewing a goal planner this weekend that has the Sunday monthly and Monday weekly if you are into that!

    • @vanessasmith9646
      @vanessasmith9646 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RachelleinTheoryI want this too! It’s because of how I view a calendar vs how I think about individual weeks. When I see a monthly calendar, my eyes are used to a Sunday start, I know where all the days of the week are without look at the name labels. Whereas, when I look at a week at a glance, I think a new week starts Monday morning, and Sunday is the end of a week. Sat and Sun are better together for weekly planning because they are the weekend. So it makes sense to put both days at the end of the week;).

    Thanks for doing a break down of differences in Japanese vs English Weeks. I am happy they came out with the English option as many of us are fans of Hobnichi. I started in 2016 and been my main planning and journaling system since that time Great review today

      @@RachelleinTheory I do! The paper is a bit thicker and dries quicker. It is also whiter. There is more room to write because there are no quotes. The cover I have is either leather or leather-like. The dated Kinbor is awesome! The undated one is horrible.

    The Champagne Gold planner looks so beautiful. It's so hard to make metallic colors look good on flat images like on the website, so it's great to see it physically.
    I'm waiting for the One Piece weeks to be available, though.
    Great video as always!

    The holidays thing always annoyed me too. Not that Japanese holidays where they, but that they made them red same as the Sunday. Like I would look at the monthly and yearly and it just looked like they randomly splashed red everywhere. If the holidays had been in a separate color or even a different hue it would have been better. I'm glad they didn't use holidays at all for the English.

    • @RachelleinTheory

    Just FYI, most Asian languages don't have specific 'names' for each month like in English. They literally call each month "Month 1, Month 2, Month 3, etc..." which is why you see the numbers for the months!
