Ari this is great thank you. When you first start out, before it's really internalized, do you think about the starting point? So if it's a four-beat phrase and your ending point is the "e of 1" do find yourself thinking of starting the phrase on the "e of 1"? I realize the goal is not to be thinking of the math - but when first starting out with this exercise is that the way to approach it?

Ed Stalling if I’m thinking of a very specific phrase then yes. If I’m improvising then no.
