Any brand is good. Don't buy your winter stuff from India though. Buy things once you are here. In case you need few things initially, you may buy it from Nike, Decathlon etc.

For rentals, I would suggest marketplace. My friend just got a room in Brampton through marketplace.

The range is much wider here in Canada. You will get MDH easily here. You can get if there's anything specific which you use.
