If one has any issues with the current demographic of the team, it ought to be more that there are too many whites than too many minorities 2. The reason the demographics of the country aren't reflected in the team is that minorities are underrepresented among the people playing those sports (on the other hand are overrepresented in the summer olympics sports) and that if the people in these sports reflected the country the figures above would be the expected in the olympic team. The real question one should ask themselves is why that is. Personally I think there're two explanations: a) A large part of minorities live in the southern states where it's less common to play in these sports and b) these sports are typically more expensive than, say, running. I don't think that's the point Moody is trying to make, He thinks 2 gays in a team of 244 people is too much presumably because he doesn't like gays rather than because gays seem overrepresented in relation to their share of the population
