Cas railroad is one of the best places to visit 💯. I wish that I would live closer, would ride the Shay engines every week. The brake are awesome doing the braking of the cars, they get 💯from me.
Great video! A wonderful reminder of the trip I took with my wife and kids to the top of Bald Knob and back in the 1990s - I just loved that trip and the sound of the engine whistle blowing as we climbed up through the forest and back down again. Big thanks for this!

FYI; Starting at 8:28 the brakeman got off the train with the wrong foot first and on the wrong side of the switch stand. The proper way is with the trailing foot first and after passing the switch. Getting off with the trailing foot first would turn him away from the train if he stumbles or falls. Getting off past the switch stand would keep him from falling across the switch stand if he falls. Most railroad do not allow getting on or off moving equipment any longer.
Although I follow what your says about "Getting off with the trailing foot first would turn him away from the train if he stumbles or falls" having watched the video a few times, would that not mean he would be have to take a very long step with the leading foot as the train would have moved some way from the moment the tailing foot touched the ground.
