I couldn’t afford the film, let alone the camera but we can all dream. That camera is a work of art, beautifully engineered and functional for its intended use. Make me happy that people still make things like this.
Thank you for this very informative video! I intend to get a Chamonix camera but not sure if I should get a 5x4 or a 10x8....guess it more depends on what I can afford...
Wonderful camera! I just don't quite understand the pricing. While the 4x5 costs around 1800€, the 8x10 Alpine costs 7200€. Is that really 4 times as much material and work as a 4x5 camera? I would expect twice the price of a 4x5 camera…
Not sure where you got that price, but it's $5600 for the convertible model. That's very reasonable for a lightweight camera at this quality and size. This one also uses quite a bit of carbon fiber that the smaller ones don't use.
@@spiritusmentis They take far more money out of the pockets of us Europeans. Here in Germany the convertible is 7126€ and the non convertible is 6149€.
@@SD_Alias ah yes, I'm a former Berliner myself now living in the US. In my state, we don't have sales tax (VAT) either, so the prices are even better. Shame about euro prices, this format is getting pricey 😬
Hi Hugo, I thought this was you - but I see this is Hass! I was thinking it was a picture from your recent trip up here in Humboldt and North! Again, I'm sorry I missed you and your wife; here. We will meet next time. Is it possible to write directly to Hass? It would be nice to give him some compliments, in person, on the design of the camera... Peter

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was very informative and your final photo was beautiful.
Beautiful camera! Definitely something I'm aspiring too.

Such a beautiful and simple design, nice video tutorial of this beautiful camera. Hugo, what is that tripod head you are using???
It is a geared head made by Luland in China.
