Maan, U r a genius! I soo highly appreciate this quick, effective video.
Im about to fix cracked, broken side body panels on my Freighliner truck.. this is the 3rd video i watched and your method makes all the sense to me as far as fixing this panel with the same material its made from. If its not ABS, its close enough Lol !!
Thank You. Thank you. Thank you!! Surprised your video hasnt gotten more views.
People throw away and replace so much stuff that they can repair.. Not to mention the hard to find parts that can be salvaged. This video, ones like it and TH-cam is such a Blessing.

MEK, (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) will turn ABS plastic into a putty as well, but tends to dry and harden faster. MEK should be available at just about any hardware store at about $8 to $10 for a 22 ounce, (0.65 Liters), can. Definitely use this stuff outdoors or in a VERY well ventilated area. If ventilation is questionable, it probably wouldn't hurt to wear a properly rated respirator.

I have tons of MEK since I work on fiberglass, and I've heard a lot about the ABS/MEK putty so Im going to give it a try, but my main doubt around all this is about the actual chemical impact of MEK over the plastic; doesn't it make the ABS lose some of its properties once it dries ? (I mean, if it gets physicaly weaker or vulnerable to wheather, etc).

    Acetone comes in handy

Does this make the mix stable enough to be used in a silicone mold without damaging the mold itself?

I've used Acetone to make putty. Wondering, what works better/faster?

grind the abs plastic into fine powder for faster melting results.
