    As you've mentioned in previous videos the fakey Blythes often act like a gateway to the real thing and sure enough I started off with AliExpress fakey girls and eventually ended up with a couple of stock dolls too. I enjoy them both for different reasons but in a way I feel like I have more fun with the fakeys as (so far) I have tended to keep my stock dolls in their stock outfits whereas with the fakeys they have a lot of different looks. That said owning stock dolls is still reasonably new to me so that could change over time.

    • @TammyPowley
      @TammyPowley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The fakes give a lot more freedom to take them out and do stuff with them. I have some stock I do things with, but I would not take many of them out of my house for photos or anything because I don't want to damage them.

      So much of this, if I have the original outfit it stays on the doll idk why I'm like this maybe because I lost the pieces to my dolls when I was a kid, and like I know I could put the clothes in a pouch or something but I just can't bring myself to

      @@amazingdollart4676 I definitely need to organise the clothes better - particularly when it comes to keeping stock outfits and accessories together. Having spent money on getting the real dolls it feels like getting your moneys worth to keep them in their stock clothes I think, also that's how they're meant to be (I know that sounds little silly as they can be dressed in anything). Like I say I'm still new to owning stock dolls so hopefully I will end up feeling more comfortable dressing them in other clothes later on.

    I am glad you made an updated version of this video. I watched the old one a few times in the beginning of my interest in Blythe. Your videos have been my main inspiration concerning these unique gals.
    I still love my fakes, because of their hair but am also deeply pleased to own one real!
    I remain confused on the face molds, they all look so similar.
    I hope to buy more real ones in the future but they will have to be second hand. As you know that has never bothered me!

    • @TammyPowley
      @TammyPowley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One good thing about pre-owned dolls is that there is typically no surprise as far as quality if the seller is truthful about the doll's condition, and you can't always say that about a NIB doll. Thanks for watching. I'm glad I redid this. I have a few older videos that I need to redo as well. The camera quality is much better these days, and of course, I'm more knowledgeable than I was back then. One reason I started doing Blythe doll videos, as I originally thought I would focus more on crafting for my channel, was because I couldn't find many on TH-cam at the time and was researching the doll.

    I like all Blythes, too, fake, real, and custom. Agree on the hair. My stock Odette has had two spas on her hair and the ends are still crunchy and dry. If she wasn't a real Takara I would have snipped them off, because the rest of the hair is in good shape. But it annoys me to no end that I spent a couple hundred dollars on her and my fake $30 Blythes have much better hair. However, that being said, her face and body plastic are amazing, heavy, smooth, and almost glowing from within.

    At first I didn’t like Blythe dolls because of their shiny faces and their bodies not being articulated. I never would have bought one. Then I saw a custom doll, with a beautiful face, and an articulated body and I totally fell in love with Blythes. I found Aliexpress when they were just changing to the cute matte faces and now I have lots of matte face factory Blythes. I also have 3 beautiful custom Blythes made by Russian artists.
    I have only seen one real Blythe that I really loved and it was Daunting Drusilla. Unfortunately she’s out of my price range now. I can get her in a matte face factory Blythe doll though, and I even found her bone tights on Etsy.

    The only reason I ever considered purchasing a Blythe was because of the ball jointed type of body. I’ve been collecting ball joint dolls for over 20 years. I really am not in love with the original Blythe face (the shiny finish and gloomy expression turned me off), but I saw custom Blythes and really wanted one. I have two Pullip’s that I really like. One is original and one is a kit. Anyway I’ve ordered two Blythe heads to start customizing and Obitsu bodies for them.

      Some people don't like the shiny face and spray them with Mr. Super Clear for a matte finish. Personally, I'm fine with the shiny, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. That's cool that you are going to try customizing them. I've also just (re)started customizing.

    • @TammyPowley
      @TammyPowley 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Kenner originally produced Blythe in 1972, but they didn't sell well. Hasbro owns the rights, which it sold to Junie Moon. Takara is a manufacturer who Junie Moon hired to make Blythe again in 2001. The main differences are how old the dolls are and the face mold vary a little bit, and of course, the price. An original Kenner Blythe is very expensive.

    I have no problem with the fake Blythe doll if you want to customize and sculpt the faces. Most customizers carve the face, boggle the eyes, sometimes reroot, and put on a Pure Nemo body, so what’s left of the original Blythe apart from the general shape of the head? Blythe were never an artist doll, they were originally meant as play dolls. I wish Takara, or the new owner would simply offer a blank Blythe for customisers just like Pullip did.

    • @TammyPowley

I have recently ordered another factory as I have lots of Blythe wigs and want another doll to use them on. I don't like the jointed one I can't get clothes on her the bottom is too big. The new one is not jointed I won't get another jointed. I love the Takara ones much better quality the factory girls feel they could bend like melted plastic. And I don't like the crude makeup the horrible red lips. The Takara simply love me has poor hair it's layered and quite greasy. I cut her hair short and put wigs on it. In fact she's my favourite 😍.

      Your collection sounds wonderful!! Not everyone likes the jointed, but you know, I've seen people take stock dolls and switch out their bodies to the jointed ones, so it's really a matter of taste. I think some of the hate comes from the belief that the mold used to make the faceplates might be recast, but when you compare the fakes and the real Blythe dolls, at least when I do, I can see they aren't the same mold, so I can't see how a recasting could have happened.

      I get mine from Fairytale Town Store or Blythe Homes, both on Aliexpress.

    I find a plagiarism knockoff of blythe in a china store in the Reunion island..
    The package is Pink and the doll call "Belle" and also picture of à real blythe blond dressed in maid. The package is very old and disgusting. She got Brown hair with big Brown eyes taller than a Neo Blythe and this doll cost 7,90€ (7 or 8$) very very cheap idk if i will buy this copycat. In the store is only 2 dolls available (Light skin and Brown skin) 😊

      Also its impossible to find this knockoff of Blythe in the net! I see its a chinese company who make this doll "Belle"
      (It's not Belle Girl!)

      There are lot of "big eyed and big head" dolls now that copy Blythe.

    As long as it's cute, I could care less if it's fake. We all have to do what we can afford. If Karens don't understand that, well, God bless em.
