Was literally thinking "wow this guy's voice is kinda nice" when the info part of the video finished... I was not expecting the forbidden nature valley granola asmr. Thanks Roarty
Bought it today. Love the art style. It'd be a great party game. Once I got the hang of it I love just how fast you can fly over those hills. The characters are all so super cute too. You made a nice enjoyable game.
I'm so glad this got reccomended to me! This game looks super fun and I'll definitely be picking it up when I can, and hoping that your projects get the attention they deserve! The style and music are delightful, and just based on what I saw, I'd say adding a trick system would be super cool, something akin to tony hawk or jet set radio! looking forward to what you have next tho, thanks for making games, and this video!!!!
LMFAO nice outro and nice pixel shader the game reminds me of n64 snowboard kids which i really enjoyed back in the days.. you know what the best thing was for me at least it was the lift back up that would be my next feature developing your game and i think would add more depth to your game then you could have like rounds instead of just ride down once .. love your art style great job peace
I really want to get much better at marketing. But I always feel like I have nothing to really sell. I'm so happy to learn about your game and your journey, thank you!
yo definitely feel you there! I do think over time you do build up the confidence but yea the first plunge into it can feel kind of off. But if the thing im selling is decent and im honest about the price / what you get for it, then you cant go wrong. Appreciate the comment!
This is awesome, I just bought the game on steam because of this! Also I'm curious how the cover/ banner art was made or what process you used, did you paint it yourself? Or was it some sort of intricate render?
hey thanks for checking it out! my friend matt ulicney made the cover art for the game, he's insanely good and it is a digital painting. you cna look up his website to find more of his work and hes got other socials as well if you are interested. definitely one of the best parts of the aesthetic of the game i think haha
You should try to collab with BlackThornProd that might be able to bring some awareness to your channel and games, and I think you might enjoy it. It seems like the devs like making their section of the video along with adding their take of the game. They're asking for devs to reach out to them in the 100 dev pass the game challenge video they posted the other day. Hope you see this and good luck!
thank you! I want to do consoles, but I got rejected from Nintendo switch. It seems pretty hard to get on there, but I'm going to try for other consoles in the meantime!
@@dogma.questlog im blown away that you got rejected by nintendo considering the amount of shovelware on the eshop. then again... nintendo being nintendo...
yeaaaa, I hear that incorporating as a business helps a ton, I think that may have been a factor. Also potentially the games release date being a few years ago throws them off. I'll try again sometime hopefully I can make it, I love nintendo consoles so it'd be a dream.
What really stuck out to me in this video was the fact that it took you four years to make the game. Your games and your videos are super underrated and I hope they get more players and views. Can’t wait for the next upload!
yo thanks jake! love seeing your progress too! I think a lot of game dev youtube seems so quick and fast paced its crazy to realize how much making this stuff actually takes!
I would love if you made a "how I did my 3d models" video where you cover what tools you used and so on. I like how clean your models are and how they look pixel art. I am also glad you are humble about feedback. Because god damn, I gave feedback to another indie dev and they blocked me from their reddit/steam forums because they didn't want ot hear feedback. which to me is just insane. and now ill never support that dev with my money ever again. future games? nope. gonna get the hard skip key. so im glad you aren't sticking your head in the sand like other solo game devs.
I'd like to make a modelling breakdown video sometime soon, some of my shorts have verrrry breif insight into my process there, but definitely need a full video. And that's very fair, it is a weird and hard balance to judge what should go in a game and what shouldn't, but all feedback is appreciated and I'd hope people would just accept some and move on haha no need to respond negatively to people trying to help! Thanks for commenting!
The game looks fun if you have friends to play with you. Although, the skybox does look a bit empty and below the map is also a bit empty. Maybe one day ill buy the game.
@@dogma.questlog funny you say that, i have 2 achievements left. the 1000 races and play with 4 people. if you would like i can play some more and figure out some more ideas for achievements, i'm a developer over at retroachievements
The game looks great! Amazing Job :D I do have a question, since i saw a glimp of the Unity Editor, how did you set up the local co-op? I just can't wrap my head around how to implement it since i want to create a game for my friends and me to play. I am referring to the pre-game lobby where you can 'x to join' , choose character etc. Would be great if you shared the tutorial / info you used for this !
hey thank you! for the local muktiplayer I ended up making a script called "player manager" and then when it detects somebody new pressing A, the manager just puts it into the right slot. Unity's new input system is great for this because it handles the actual joining and stuff like that, you just have to tell objects where to go. I might make a video on this too thanks for the suggestion. and also feel free to ask more indepth questions here, or you could join the discord and message me there too.
yea for sure! I generally started with a plane in blender and turned on symmetry so I'm only modeling half of it. I think the most important factors were the silhouette so when you look at the edge of the model as you spin it around does the shape still look like a bunny or whatever you are trying to model, and then secondly the textures go a long way so the model doesn't have to be that detailed. I tried to keep it simple, and focus on the overall shape. Some of the characters where loosely based on stuffed animals or Christmas ornaments so it also can help to have something you can hold to spin around in your hand to work from in real 3D. If you go to brendanroarty.com/Page1.html you can scroll down and see them in t-pose if that helps and some of the older bunny hill devlogs and shorts on the channel have some shots of me modelling them that might help with showing triangle count etc. Also if you join my discord I'd be happy to give feedback tips on stuff you model if you are inclined in that way too. I've been meaning to make a modelling crash course kind of video just to get all the modelling stuff I do out there and see what people think or if others have tips to share too. Thanks for reaching out! hopefully this was helpful in some way haha
Cliff bars are highly dependent on selected flavor but ultimately fall flat, however i will say their nut butter bars really give the competition a run for their money. Cliff bloks changed the game for me, especially mountain berry, perfect balance of tapioca and sweetness
if im being honest id say garuka bars are a must-try for a premium granola bar experience. however you might lose some relatability with the common layman. That being said, a more down-to-earth review might be of the cliff nut-butter chocolate and peanut butter bar. Easy, packable, affordable, and widely available.
at the point of this video I had sold around 1.5k copies, you can do the math with the steam price, but remember steam takes 30% cut and some of those copies were sold at a discount so the average price is lower per copy as well. Hope that helps!
Found a new underrated gamemaked🎉!! Hope i coulr play this game but steam purchases are banned in Iran This game also reminds me of ski safari on mobile
i dont recomend increasing the price. If the game is like 7 bucks only people that really want it will buy it. If you lower it to like 3 bucks ppl will left over cash on steam will browse for smth to buy, notice ur game and say duck it its only 3 bucks so even if the game is half the price it will get more than double the sales. I think im kinda stupid lol.
yea fair, I think the reason i would raise it is because people only buy stuff on sale so if i price it down on a sale then itll still be a larger amount, but the sale makes it enticing. I see what you mean though, its interesting what difference the $4 makes in peoples mind haha
honestly fair, it seems to me that the maggots actually provide me with an ancient zen like state, that allows me to "enter the zone" effortlessly, a sort of flow
fair enough, they do ultimately bring an earthy natural element to what is an otherwise wholly processed food. i could see why someone much in line with you or one like the well known influencer and podcaster extraordinaire joe rogan would seek out a more primitive way of nutrition
@@mattulicny1632 you do make a fair point about, and I'm extrapolating here (correct me if I've had the wrong assumption), with the insinuation of the "low" nature of this meal. The "natural" way is primitive like you state. I do think that there is something to be said, argued even, about food that goes "next level", even food that is not fit for consumption of mere "natural" beings like us, but food that pushes the boundary on what food is. Something like a cliff bar really is a bit further along this righteous albeit transhumanist approach than the lowly nature valley. I can see where you are coming from.
What I meant by that is that it is a game designed to be played with multiple controllers at once, something that is more akin to a console than a pc, but I'm a big pc fan and I'm glad I made it for all pc platforms. I just think it's better suited to a console environment conceptually and would therefore potentially sell better where things like many controllers are more common. I think pc is becoming more and more relevant in "replacing" consoles but I would consider the steam deck a console in the grand scheme of things. Thanks for the comment

10:28 A good strategy I've heard for pricing steam games is to price it a bit more than you normally would and then just put it on sale a lot
