I know Hondo said he doesn't read the comments but someone needs to let him know that there is a song about Garner Minshew that was created by a comedian on the Bob and Tom show. It is based on the Rolling Stones song Gonna Miss You. It is several years old and I haven't heard if they updated it, but Tom absolutely loved it and I could see him making it happen. It's worth a listen.
The writing has been on the wall with Tyree… he been playing the same way since college, no burst just bull rush, big miss from raiders…can’t over power everyone…we either move him to inside or move on from him
Hondo’s demeanor has certainly changed. You can smell the pessimism on him. AOC didn’t snatch the job, meaning he’s not progressed the way we’d hoped. So, what are the options if Minshew doesn’t light it up? Are we supposed to wait for a Carson Beck, or do we settle for an expensive Dak (and all that he hasn’t been able to win). Realistically, what are our options this year into next?
AP just said the team ain’t flowing as a unit, that GM’s gotta catch up. But that was AOC’s best attribute. I read they want to coach GM to be a pocket passer… seriously? At the same time they chuck AOC because he doesn’t have happy feet? Kinda explains why they’re both sucking and the team has no flow. Why force both QB’s to do what they don’t do well. They’re literally going against the flow. None of this is making after months of intelligence, courage, and excellent moves. Oddly enough, these are the exact same complaints from Chicago fans about the OC. Thread after thread on Twitter. Sorry y’all but AP is somehow fucking this shit up. Only he can turn it around.
I think the deeper issue on the QB play is whether (1) GM and/or AOC have somehow regressed as players OR (2) there's something systemically flawed with the OC plan for offensive football. Given the awful play from the Chicago offense last year, it shocks me that not more people are at least curious if there's something wrong with the LG approach to offense. I submit that great coaching takes the talent pool on a team and builds an offense that they can succeed with. Both LG and JMD seem determined to pound their round peg into a square hole, and then want to blame their QBs (Carr and Jimmy G) and now GM and AOC for not being up to par. The real problem is coaching. In fact, this issue is most obvious with the transition from Raiders in 2016, where under OC Musgrave had Carr playing MVP quality ball, then they bring in Todd D, and Carr suddenly forgets how to play. The issue is coaching. This is what needs to be addressed...across the NFL. Its not whether a given QB can make plays, its whether an OC can take a player and design a scheme that exploits his given attributes to win games.
Fields, Carr, Jimmy (at the age we got him), AOC, and Minshew are all bottom-15 QBs from a simple talent perspective. No amount of coaching takes a Daniel Jones type of talent and makes them a top-10 QB

Hondo has completely changed his tune about training camp and the Raiders bc they named Gardner as the starter. It’s obvious he believes AOC should be the starter, even though Gardner did more last year with less talent than the raiders have.
