Your hair came out beautifully! I just received my products and I'm under the dryer as I'm typing this. I love both products, but the oil is heaven sent! I love the smell and how light weight it is. The cream sank right into my hair! Thanks for your review. You and your son are beautiful!
Ms Jai, I have found that Shea Moisture products do not play well with other brands. I would like to see you try this product again with a different leave in conditioner underneath it.
I'm so excited to try this! The alcohols are safe btw. One of the things I appreciate is the integrity behind her products. Since I'm low porosity, I'm thinking I may have to spray my hair with warm water first or apply it in the shower. Maybe that will work for you on your next go around?
Hi do I have low porosity hair? If so may want to sit the jar in a bowl of warm to help the product absorb in your hair strand. Also use warm water in you spray bottle. This will keep the cuticles on hair strands lifted in order to absorb into hair strands. I hope this helps 😊
On my 4c kinky hair the cream is a moisturizer. I have to use my styler on top of it if I want hold. The oil must have penetrating oils because it is very moisturizing also.

My hair is very kinky coily, so I find a lot of those products don't really work so well. Right now my length is about 5 inches....lose 3 inches to that snap back (it don't even play)! And the texture is like whoa.... I try to can....but I can't. My hair STAYS in a braided state for right now.

I love this review because after working with the product this week this is the final combination that worked for me also!! Melanin gave me the most moisturizing feeling my hair has felt with a product in years. The black castor oil leave in gave me the hold that I wanted. I also used the As I Am leave in with a twist out and it worked well. It's worth it for me because I did not have to use alot of Melanin to get my results. My jar and oil will last for quite a while!!

Be careful as low porosity hair sometimes doesn't like Aloe Vera and this product has that ingredient in it.

If you are low porosity the product may not be very moisturizing because it has Aloe Vera juice!
Aloe Vera does not work for low porosity hair? This is the first I have heard of that. Have to look into it.

My hair is low porosity and is ok with aloe in rinse outs, but doesn't love it in leave-ins.
I would suggest a different leave- in
