I was just mesmerized by the beautiful angel like presence of Katrina and innocent yet charming Vijay. I could have watched them for long. Loved the slow paced yet suspense, mysterious things unfolded at climax. The brilliant use of Teddy bear, Katrina setting fire to it in bakery oven and inspector telling a Bear story for getting confession to the last frame of Vijay setupatti sitting quietly like Teddy bear with legs. Shriram Raghavan is a legend. Although I think there were quite a lot of unanswered questions and loopholes in this movie as compared to Andhadhun. Loved it though 😊
The pacing actually worked wonders for me. It heightened the anticipation I had. It gave time and space for the characters to breathe and connect and the amazing chemistry between the two kept me completely hooked. I love films that are so sure about what they are trying to do. I hate people who call a film slow just for the sake of it and want some action right from the very beginning. I'd rather watch a slow paced film than a film that jumps from one scene to another just to show something without giving a fuck about whether the scenes are cohesive or not.

Just watched the film. While the premise was slow but kept me hooked, I was left underwhelmed by the ending, not because of the unanswered questions but just what the genius director could change and make the twist properly twisted - either bringing in some kind of fantasy-like elements or just twisting the kind of predictable move and make a Uno reverse on either of the lead characters! Or maybe we've just come to expect much more from a Sriram Raghavan movie especially post Andhadhun!
If there is one Bollywood director who can be an answer to Hollywood’s Alfred Hitchcock, then it would definitely be Sriram Raghavan. His movies are no less than masterpieces!

@@TriedRefusedProductions Oh. I thought the endings were also different. Whatever Sriram Raghavan said is true. This is indeed a proper slow-burn thriller in Indian Cinema after a long time. I enjoyed it to the core.
Your comments have made me more excited about this film man. Especially because you said twice that it is Sriram Raghavan's rendition of my absolute favorite movie Before SUnrise! Man, I wish I was in India to watch it on the big screen!
The problem with Merry Christmas is this. Way before CGI and VFX became a thing, and "400-500 crore Box Office collection" became the benchmark to assess a movie's quality and success, movies like Merry Christmas were made for the theatres. Because back then, movies were more about stories and emotions, rather than being a spectacle. So technically, Merry Christmas is a delicious romantic neo-noir thriller about coincidence, regret and second chances. Anyone who's a fan of Hitchcockian thrillers would love this. And Sriram Raghavan does pass out with flying colours on this one. So in this generation of fast paced, restless entertainment consumers whose attention span is decreasing day by day, this is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. But I personally loved it and would recommend it to everyone who loves a good story told with conviction. 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️
Shree Ram Raghavan is one of my only Indian movie director I really like since Ek Hasina Thi. Sadly I didn't see Badlapur because of Varun Dhawan else I like all of his movies.
Review Merry Christmas: MY TAKE Songs Omg three and they are superb , Title song mAy not be as good but the dance omg I mean Sethupathi and dancing . Second one soft and sombere with intermittent dialogues Third one the best picturised song ,totally unconventional, master piece ,the crescendo Bow to Pritam da BGM takes the movie to a different level. Sethupathi: cutest Hindi. After a point one stops noticing his accent and just his eyes a small twitch here and there of his face are enough to convey all emotions. Katrina: Amazing range of emotions . THE DIRECTOR: I went to see the film for and sat through the SLOW BURN just because I trusted his story telling prowess. I stop here ,I mean I could just go on and on and on
In the name of 'not a lot of' you are projecting biases. You are a good reviewer, you shouldn't repeat this as you have already mentioned this in the disadvantege section in the begining.
I love Sri Ram Raghavan. His last movie Andhadhun was amazing Merry Christmas I didnt even knew about this movie till yesterday I am not sure to watch in theatres but concept looks interesting
I watched it today after i saw many thumbnails in youtube were negative notion. It was a good movie with decent perfromances from the cast. I receommend all to watch it in theaters.
Just watched the movie, loved every aspect of it - from lighting, music, cast, direction, cinematography, chemistry, dialogues everything. From me Merry Christmas was class cinema. The audience of movie were pathetic- there were some people in audience who kept on commenting how the movie is bizarre, cringe etc etc. Also how they could make a music video or short film better than this movie. This kind of people should really stay away from cinema.
The film's actually good , but I have to say it's a bit overrated. One of the surprising things was Katrina Kaif. The slow -burn feel was great. Also it would have been good to have some answers.
This time raghavan more focused on romantic angle with garnishing of little bit thriller, & tempering of homage to Samant da with Rd Burman " chor nikalata hai" 😅
I genuinely really liked and enjoyed the film. It had flaws, for sure, that keep it from reaching the heights of Andhadhun, but it still accomplishes something that is unique, intriguing and special. It is really a shame, that it isn't doing well qt the box office. I know Andhadhun had a similiar start, but don't know if Merry Christmas will make as much money. We need some qualoty films to pull people back to the theatres.

same ending and explanation tho
@@TriedRefusedProductions Oh. I thought the endings were also different. Whatever Sriram Raghavan said is true. This is indeed a proper slow-burn thriller in Indian Cinema after a long time. I enjoyed it to the core.
I also watched in tamil
Vijay's character arc....uff Mr. Raghavan is a bloody genius
Loved the movie. A much needed respite from all the action and violence. Best movie in the last couple of years.
For me it's Musical Thriller ❤ one of it's kind
Your comments have made me more excited about this film man. Especially because you said twice that it is Sriram Raghavan's rendition of my absolute favorite movie Before SUnrise! Man, I wish I was in India to watch it on the big screen!
Loved the movie. Vijay Katrina every supporting actors acted well.
merry christmas is a love story first then a thriller
Yo my man I'm waiting for captain Miller review.
Pls
evening show boss!
You must have a very exhausting schedule jammy😊😊. Take care of ur health
Masala movies ko spectacle movies nhi bolte h 😂
Quite intriguing. Well put.
Shree Ram Raghavan is one of my only Indian movie director I really like since Ek Hasina Thi. Sadly I didn't see Badlapur because of Varun Dhawan else I like all of his movies.
Happy fr our Lady❤😊
Jammy what about Abraham ozler? Are you planning to review it or not? Curious to see your take on it.
you've sold the movie to me. thanks, was itching to watch hindi cinema.
Off topic... How scared are you about Guntur Karam?
VERY!
@@TriedRefusedProductionsyou should skip it or make the review extremely satirical !
Review Merry Christmas: MY TAKE
Songs
Omg three and they are superb , Title song mAy not be as good but the dance omg I mean Sethupathi and dancing .
Second one soft and sombere with intermittent dialogues
Third one the best picturised song ,totally unconventional, master piece ,the crescendo
Bow to Pritam da
BGM takes the movie to a different level.
I stop here ,I mean I could just go on and on and on
When the underwhelming aspects comes up first,,...we know jammy likes the movie
In the name of 'not a lot of' you are projecting biases. You are a good reviewer, you shouldn't repeat this as you have already mentioned this in the disadvantege section in the begining.
I watched the movie on Netflix today and the 2 things I liked is Katrina's beauty and Setupati Vijay's acting..
I love Sri Ram Raghavan. His last movie Andhadhun was amazing
Merry Christmas I didnt even knew about this movie till yesterday
I am not sure to watch in theatres but concept looks interesting
We need a sequel series to ek hasina thi ❤ 7:45
I watched it today after i saw many thumbnails in youtube were negative notion.
It was a good movie with decent perfromances from the cast. I receommend all to watch it in theaters.
Just watched the movie, loved every aspect of it - from lighting, music, cast, direction, cinematography, chemistry, dialogues everything. From me Merry Christmas was class cinema.
The audience of movie were pathetic- there were some people in audience who kept on commenting how the movie is bizarre, cringe etc etc. Also how they could make a music video or short film better than this movie. This kind of people should really stay away from cinema.
Loved it...big fan of Sriram Raghavan work....even agent vinod!!!
Loved Before Sunrise,,, can't wait to see Hindi adaptation
The film's actually good , but I have to say it's a bit overrated. One of the surprising things was Katrina Kaif. The slow -burn feel was great. Also it would have been good to have some answers.
Honestly, i don't like ending, but whole movie, acting was nice.
I'd really like to see your take on recent Bengali films
This time raghavan more focused on romantic angle with garnishing of little bit thriller, & tempering of homage to Samant da with Rd Burman " chor nikalata hai" 😅
Sriram Sir again proved it.... Awesome!!
Ek haseena thi...urmila and Saif, that was a killer movie of mr. raghvan
