Among a blistering number of great 80s and 90s AUTHENTIC punk bands, these guys are absolutely the top of the heap. The seething nihilism that permeates the lyrics combined with the uncommonly creative and, frankly, highly skillful musicianship expressed by every member of NoMeansNo has fascinated me for decades. I am about to turn 50, and today, I am listening to 0+2=1 and enjoying it just as much as I did back in 1991 when I bought the vinyl record of this one at Shangri-La Records in Memphis, TN. I never got to see them live back then, but I sure wish I had!

It’s crazy to me being from Victoria how much of an impact this band had on people and I’m pissed off with myself for not seeing them when I’ve had literally hundreds of opportunities but never did even as a punk rock kid myself.. they were usually playing at clubs and bars when I was too young and by the time I was old enough I lost interest in punk rock..big regret

Word!!! i saw them many times in munich, everytime for a fair ticket price, like it should be, and way over 2 hours!.... one time in Ulm the drummer éxcused himself after 3,5 (!!!!) hours playing due he hit his fingers on that snare rim....

@@martinwagner2743 what a whimp.....:))) as far as i know they are Appalachian breed, that explains everything...i have never encountered such a density of capable musicians as within the Country/Bluegrass scene, they got Al di Meolas, John McLaughlins and Paco de Lucias like galore....

My pal Erica loaned me this cd in ‘94, and it really impacted me. I dove in gleefully after this one. I know the whole canon at this point, was fortunate to see them a couple times, and I kinda adore them. This was the catalyst. The jumping-off point. And it’s still my favorite. This, Mama, and Worldhood are my Top 3. Thanks for making this available!

Smartest and funkiest punk rock band ever. Do you listen to them or read them? For the grooves or regard for philosophy? And who would win in a fight - Nomeansno or the Minutemen? But no fighting required! Solidarity with all the smart bands! D. Boon lives! As will the Wright Brothers!

a child needs a name like a corpse needs a pall!

*** it's nice to see obvious ripples of influence in the world where life imitates art and vice versa, in the performance realm of music. i think this particular ripple only signifies that this song by The Stranglers was a fave of Nomeansno as listeners. when something is fractally duplicated it either means it was duplicated on purpose, by error/accident, randomly by chance, or by the limitations of truly first-ever 'inventions'.
we individually impact the lives of others more than we can or ever will know...
      like ripples.

    • @jwhiteout

Yeah, it's the internet and people are prone to posting little vignettes about their life when their memories are jogged by certain stimuli. I hadn't heard the record in a couple decades. Wrong was the only record I kept. I popped in to see how much I remembered here.
But still, all that aside, what's with your pretentious little drive by booger flipping? Have you been bare naked with a girl yet? You don't sound like it. In any case, I'd be willing to bet a whole fuck load of Internet likes (for what they're worth, which is nothing) that you weren't even old enough to finger your mother's ass when I was listening to and seeing NOMEANSNO live in a bowling alley, you little flit.

    • @jwhiteout
      @jwhiteout 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Danni- I hadn't seen your post. The thing is, when WRONG came out around Christmas of '89, the universal sentiment at the time seemed to be simply "HOLY FUCK." It would be hard for any group to follow up a record like that. I mean, if you look at the records that came out prior, it's not even a question. They topped themselves with WRONG. This one's not a terrible record, and again, I bought it the week it came out, but it can't compare. I'm betting if Jon Jones was even fucking born, he wasn't listening to it. Because he is a little square jon who was probably finger painting in his own shit along the side of his crib.

VideoGameSauce You've made a good choice, mate. Like others say; see them live. You'll make a mess in your pantaloons. Plus, they are the nicest folk if you meet them. Proper class acts.

Saw them live. See them live. They’re best live. The stories are true Nomeansno are the live band to top all the bands who’ve lived and played live. Long may they be alive.

A friend of mine showed me the album 'Wrong'. That changed my view to music.
Later i had bought this album and was mesmerized.
With a friend i drove to school everyday and we heard it loudly.
A few years ago i saw them live in Siegen, Germany, that was a great happenening.
    Live on Nomeansno!
