In this video, I wanted to discuss few details surrounding our newest characters in Version 1.5 of Reverse: 1999. Spathodea and Ezra! Also, some deep level detail around the hidden concepts that is for all intents and purposes, keeps being hinted at throughout the entire story and lore of the game. but didnt the humans (like Schneider and her sister, Mr. Carson, and others) from chapter 2 died bcz of the Storm even though they are in Vertin's suitcase? did i miss something or only the Foundation areas have the ability to preserve human life?
It really is interesting how Spathodea was relentless in bullying Ezra. I get her experiences made her clouded and to be fair, if an entire race has to go somewhere where they are at a disadvantage just to play sports that isn't right. It's like if someone got rid of high school basketball and placed them in the NBA/WNBA. Reminds me of the South Park episode. It is sad how many athletes in real life take so many pills just to keep going or succeed.
Anyway I appreciate how Desert Flannel and Vertin became the mediators in the conflict. I felt bad for Ezra the whole event. The voice actors all did great work.
There can be a connection between the places that have weird fog/atmosphere or sth like: the LAKE in the suitcase (Sonetto and Regulus collapsed there), the fog in the CAVE on chapter 5 island, the Uluru STADIUM. All 3 of them can affect the arcanists' consciousness and at the end of chapter 5, Vertin revealed that the fog in the cave can be a substance that give the island immunity to the Storm.
so that raises the question. are the fog and the stone connected, like does the rock make the fog or does the fog make the rock?
@@alexfanfan9511I think that they are connected but there is no definite proof or infomations about them as far as chapter 5. Strangely enough, the event story of chapter 1.2 also had something similar to this. Remember the moss that produce some kind of gas that make humans go crazy? I might be reading too far into this but there is weird pattern among these fog/atmosphere thing in the stories.
Vertin's suitcase can't protect Ezra from the storm since he is human after all.
for when the storm comes Ezra must then be transferred to laplace immediately as it's one of the place he can be safe.
Ezra's resonance is named "Reasoning" because he is a human lmao. Love this game.
The reason Ezra is playable is because he can use arcane skills. His mushrooms have been shown to have arcane properties, so it is like a human just using tools imbued with arcanum

It's why I love this event so much. After having seen that irreconcilable rift between arcanists and humans manifest in so many ways during the course of the game, we finally get a breakthrough with mending relations and it couldn't have happened on a better occasion - a Sporting Event!
Despite being an event not related to the main story, the things that happened in it are VERY important for the development of R1999's world. The revival of the games became a symbol of Human-Arcanist unity, an event where people can cast aside their prejudices for the sake of a good time, and the games themselves will provide a source of entertainment and morale boost especially during this time of calamity.
Plus, another "Safe Spot" has been discovered as a result, that being the stadium itself. I've every reason to believe that what Vertin said is true - it will eventually become a contested location between the Foundation and the Manus. Perhaps in far future it will become a warzone in which we'll have to fight in, but today, we shall walk in the original form of men and enjoy the spirit of competition!
One of my favorite IRL tidbits that came from this event was the mention of "Dorothy of London" from Ezra's explanation of Reincarnators. You could say it's one of the more famous cases of "Reincarnation", with Dorothy Eady (1904-1981) gaining her memories as an Ancient Egyptian priestess after a fatal fall when she was three years old. She eventually became an archaeologist, and even settled in Egypt, near the ruins of the temple she supposedly served in during her past life. She's had an interesting life and looking it up has been fascinating to me. To think that they'd incorporate such a bizarre recorded phenomenon to the game and created a whole character around it.. I'm honestly astounded by the level of research that goes into Reverse. It's so good!
They are likely going to add more human playable characters in the future because just like Schneider they would probably have arcane infused human weapons.

Indeed. Many people (after the release of 1.9) were very disappointed when they found out Enigma was not playable.
But of course, we shouldn't ignore the fact that Enigma is a HUMAN. And in the 1.9 story, (minor spoiler) he isn't seen with any form of weapon that includes arcanum
So the possibility of Enigma being playable right now is pretty low. Not unless he gets a hold of a weapon imbued with arcanum
There is a little plot twist in this version. But i got a theory.
Humans before weren't able to survive the storm at least inside of Vertin's suitcase. Or maybe they can't in the suitcase because it has a kind of weaker effect.
So if Ezra is born in the 90's he survived 3 storms, maybe at the foundation or the stadium in this case, 'cause if he was in the suitcase he would not do it.
Remembering what happened to Schneider, she doesn't survived the storm because of the suitcase weakness.
If the suitcase isn't weak (i remember a loading screen talked about the suitcase power, but i can't recall it), then theres a plot-twist, because Schneider should survive to the storm like other human characters.
Future versions may highlight this doubt.
Wdym? Humans don't survive the storm in the suitcase. Ezra just chills in Laplace. Schneider dies because of this fact.
Remember vertin suitcase can't protect humans in her suitcase but something definitely happened in chapters 6 and 7

I am just wondering because lot of events in 1999 are loosely based on real life events like that heist of statue from museum in melanias story. Or actual dj pirates in 60 england.
Is there some historical event where human rights (usually considered good) are used to try to bankrupt organization or event? Possibly sporting event.
Some of easthethics of uluru games seem to point out to australian olympic games but I could not find anything there that super fits. Any ideas?

Everyone already know this, but I’ll point it out. Ezra uses Reasoning rather than Resonance, which I find interesting.

honestly this was an amazing event not sure how there gonna tie the ending with the main plot but I have a feeling this isin't the last we hear of the Ulur games

In one of the Atlas Arcanist categoy, there's a section called "Infected" which I thought where Ezra was going to show up to hint that he's a human infected by a parasitic arcane mushroom, ehich I thought would be so cool. Turns out he's in a different category, so that was a disappointment

Good reserch, really insightful, also still lacking of some details I would have liked to see.
For one you did not talk about desert Flannel yet, who has, in my opinion the most crucial symbolism in the entire event: Capitalism and exploitation! Spathodeo is well of and can live her dream while Flannel grew up poor and has to grift to get by - and she is targeted by a propagandist trying to use both lies and truth against them - whith the Bunyips representing exactly that, since they grow agitated and powerful when encountering lies and they can always tell the truth apart, as well.
And the Uluru statium is an anti storm statium, because of the special material, this Nucloid R, that is also existing in the spinning wheel and the Island of Apeiron. Everytime this material is in play it has psychodelic and physical effects on all arcanists except Vertin to a degree, it seems. The spinning wheel puts arcanists to sleep, Apeirons cave-stone puts arcanists into a kind of hyper cerebral trance suatable to gain knowledge and the Uluru stadium boosts all physical capacities like doping with the drawback of making them intoxicated.

I still upset about the world of R1999, like human kinda never intergrate arcanists into their life. For disclaimer, i know this is happening because the writers make that as a point of their stories. But try to imagine yourself living in R1999 world, why the heck there is no arcanist exclusive sports games? Why wait for "ritualistic" game like Uluru games when you can just organize it officially? Let those arcanists go apeshit.
In the 1.5 story they specifically said that included wayyyyy too much paperwork
Expenses, and construction. Not only that, but let us not forget that Arcanists hold power. Which may pose a very large threat to the human society.
i kinda want to look into some plothole of the game, such as, since the storm reverse the time, wouldnt it be possible to meet someone (but younger) from the later year if it is reversed? (like the time goes back from 1999 to 1965)
That's not a plothole; the foundation reports in the chapter 5 extra story specifically mentioned that the foundation survivors went to look for themselves and other coworkers who were reversed in the Storm when they first went backwards but they ended up finding neither of them and they're still not sure why exactly that happened.
My guess is that only one version of a person can exist in the flow of time as it is and, whenever someone survives the Storm and jumps backwards or if someone gets erased, time is still flowing "forwards" even when it's reversing so time reversing can't undo someone disappearing or your current self still existing from the "future."
Hopefully that's not too hard to understand? I might've phrased it weirdly.
@@sneakretster well, it is still unexplained nonetheless. i think the "only 1 person can exist in a single timeline" is really hard to believe since if that is the case, only like a really small portion of the world population would exist on the first storm occurence.
@@Rouen_HK sure, it's not fully explained yet, but you don't have any evidence to refute the point nonetheless since the only areas we see during each storm is a localized city/town.
The only way to prove or disprove the storm's effect on the whole world would be to do a full count of the population of a city between each era to see what's missing, but that avenue is completely blocked because letting the wider population know about the storm would lead to anarchy and the foundation would be doomed immediately.
@@sneakretster i do, history would change with those vanished people (since the vanishing people of the future would also vanished in the past), yet, r1999 history is somewhat the same as they recorded (as explained by the inteliegence of st.pavlov or laplace (i forget) in the beginning of ch 2, except when manus vindictae actively tried to change it (ch2)
they just explained that in a Laplace video that seeing your past self is banned in Laplace, but they might meet someone who done that in the future(aka we might get an answer to this / playable character)

Not at all. Ezra isn't living in the suitcase and surviving the storms, he mainly works at Laplace and is only affiliated with team timekeeper which means that he spends more of his time at the foundation branch in Australia if anything.
Schneider was reversed right in front of Vertin and she wasn't in a place that is certifiably protective for humans (as Vertin said she attempted to use the suitcase to save a lot of human friends from the eras before 1966) so she's still reversed until there's a method discovered to somehow undo that in the future.
