Wow delicious Bak Kut Teh Hyekyong & Jordi. Watching your wonderful video make me want to travel back to Singapore. New friend here. Enjoy your trip in Southeast Asia my friends.
Thank you for watching and commenting Tommy!! We hope the other videos of the Singapore series make you want even more to go back to Singapore! What an amazing city!! Safe travels!
Very very professional channel on youtube thanks for sharing such a nice VLOG love from Pakistan and best wishes very very good editing with lots of information love to visit again 👌🇵🇰 hope to see you both in Pakistan .
Asian foods look good! But this is the first video on your channel I watched so I have to comment: I really enjoyed your editing style! I also quit my job to travel long term and do videos.
It's incredible that a bak kut teh stall a has expanded to so many outlets around. Awhh Jordi's face when you drink that broth! Those pork ribs are making my mouth water! I could literally dip youtiou into anything! Love youtiou! Mmm Ngoh hiang looks really interesting, not something we have here in our bak kut teh stalls, I would love to try it!
yeah, it's interesting to hear stories about small business growing like that, right? hard work pays off! I'd have some bak Kut Teh right now too! (and I'm just waking up...😅)
The bak kut teh in Singapore look slightly different than the one we have here. We just recently had bak kut teh as well, but the soup is darker coloured, whereas the bak kut teh broth you guys are having is lighter. Then I realized that there's Hokkien bak kut teh (darker colour) and Teochew bak kut teh (lighter colour), I've tried both before, not knowing they're different, but both taste quite similar and still delicious! Warm and fuzzy meal!
You had me at Pork Rib! We heard of Song Fa but did not go there. Looks nice. Ha ha. Nice versus. Too close to call for me but great excuse to go to both places! Cheers!
I like Bak Kut Teh a lot. I got the ingredient pack from the supermarket and made it by myself sometimes. I havent tried that two shops in SG before. Perhaps next time.
Oh we love Song Fa! Very peppery soup base but so good 🤤👍🏻 Never tried Ng Ah Sio before, we should definitely check it out when we go to Singapore again next time. Bak kut teh is such a classic Singaporean dish. For some reason we enjoy a little bit more of the Malaysian bak kut teh than the Singaporean one 😁
Where is that street with the colorful houses? it gives me an air of Cuba, Portugal... some like that I am probably way off, but you know what I mean ..or not. lol
it's Emerald Hill road, near Orchard Rd. and yes, buildings there look very colonial! I totally get what you mean. plus, there are some European bars&restaurants there. all very cute.
Ohhh, we've heard about Song Fa! That looks like a nice restaurant and the food looks very good. Love that it comes with youtiao. That usually happens to us when we go overboard ordering.
Yeah, in Song Fa, there were many people. Probably the most famous Bak Kut Teh restaurant in Singapore. We loved the youtiao with the broth. Gosh. Getting hungry...
Bak Kut Teh is Lizzy's (my sister's) all-time favorite food. We're a little bit biased, though, we think that Malaysia does bak kut teh a tiny bit better than Singapore. haha! Always the rivalry!
A million bowls. That’s a lot of soup served. All these soups are great with 🍚. Glad to see you got some rice. I might get some of this soup tonight after watching this.
Oh... that's the secret!!! 😋 Well, the price was okay. We got excited and ordered more than we expected. If it's possible, we also want to have it regularly! So good!
With this food battle - You Guys win. Always love hearing a little bit of the history about the restaurant. The meat looks so tender. Wish I was good with chop sticks like you guys!!!
Jordi's face when trying to pull the meat from the second spot. Haha That's right! We would put all the rice in the soup. We vote for stronger flavor, so probably the second place! :-)
It looks great, right? Then wait for the next episode! 😉 Actually bak kut teh is quite popular and you can find it in many chinese restaurants around the world and also in South East Asia...we hope you can try and tell us how you like it!
@@LifetimeTravelmates love how you ask the question, March 17th but thinking about coming back after the wedding in Spain and before Ramadan... we shall see

I love BKT of all types. And I eat in both restaurants (Song Fa and Ng Ah Sio) very frequently. Both styles are similar in the sense they are peppery compared to the herbal type of BKT such as Klang style. I like both Song Fa and Ng Ah Sio very much. In the beginning, I would mostly eat at Song Fa but of late mostly in Ng Ah Sio. Their (travelmates) observation of the meat texture and broth is spot on. Ah SIo is much more peppery but the broth is thicker and richer and in my opinion slightly more flavoursome. It certainly has more kick. Song Fa's broth is more diluted and the quality of the broth can be variable at different branches. Occasionally, the broth can be too light and diluted. So it can be hit and miss at Song Fa.
Hi V Lee!! Thanks for watching and for your insight! We love both, but we challenged ourselves to make them "compete" for fun/review. We miss BKT! Hope we can have again some day! 😅 Please, support our channel by subscribing and sharing our videos with your friends! 🙏
Super concentrated pork soup on second location..the chinese say it should have lot of health benefits and can release out hot air from your body. Is the soup kind of herbal taste in a way?
A thin layer of fat on the soup eh... that makes our bak kut teh here looks super unhealthy now haha!! I would go for the one with stronger soup flavour, Ng Ah Sio it is for me!
Have you ever tried Bak Kut Teh? Which one is your favourite? Leave a comment!

the design of their restaurants is so cool, yeah!
Love the colourful streets! Oooo Bars eh, sounds good! :P
