@@behindert 100% what happened. I think it’s great how Arin mentions two things he remembers about the Renn Faire.. the food and how I embarrassed myself lol.
Tearing happens because the render from the graphics card finishes in the middle of a monitor refresh. So the first half might be from frame 1 and the second half of the screen will be drawn from frame 2. Because it's two different frames mixed together the objects probably have moved and thus don't quite align making it look torn. VSync makes it so the graphics card will update at the same frequency as the monitor so one whole frame is always drawn. This adds a little bit of input lag because the game might have to wait briefly before the screen updates. So the visual on the screen might be a frame or two behind from the simulation of the game handling inputs.
oh don't worry, it's not that he forgot, it's just that he never actually put two and two together at the start of the game that turning on the sign to open it meant he could do the same to close it down.
I know Arin won’t check the comments, but you can collect garbage in a *shocked* garbage bag, rather than throwing things in the dumpster one at a time, and the red/green dots on products when buying them is market value. Green is cheap, red is expensive.
I can’t wait until Arin discovers that he can throw trash and tires in a garbage bag rather than running every single thing to the dumpster individually
"you should get a trash can in here" "I don't have one of those!" Arin said, after pulling out his trash can item to bag up trash not 5 minutes earlier.
Make sure to equip the bin bag so you can pick up trash. Also the red circle means that the product is a bad price, green means good. You can check the price history to see if you want to buy it. Basically buy green stuff avoid red. You can hire staff for everything, you just need to progress a bit more

There is a high likelyhood they don't come back to it because they'll have played it for themselves in the meantime. Dan stated at the end of the second episode that he was gonna play it on his own time.
Arin started explaining it well enough I think. V-Sync makes the graphics card render the frames at the same refresh rate as your display device to avoid leftover frames data being rendered. If your Display Device is 60Hz (60fps) and the games performance allows the graphics card to render at 62fps, every few frames the display renders will have slightly mismatched information and look like two photos taken 0.01 seconds apart cut together in the same window. (screen taring)
arin didnt quite explain vsync in a satisfactory way so ill try to explain it myself: when your screen displays an image, its not displaying it one frame at a time. it has scanlines that go from left to right, top to bottom, and the rate at which those lines restart to the top is the vertical refresh rate. the graphics card can sometimes produce frames faster than this refresh rate, and displays the next frame while the last frame is being drawn, causing the screen tearing effect. turning on vsync tells the graphics card to wait until the vertical refresh of the monitor or tv before drawing another frame. the slow mo guys did a video on screen refresh rates, i highly recommend checking it out, its very fascinating to watch a tv in slow motion lol
Doesn't need to be higher. In fact, tearing is more common/more noticeable when framerate is lower than screen's refresh rate. For tearing to occur all that needs to happen is to refresh to happen while the "frame buffer" is in the middle of being updated.
You can get a tearing-free image with framerate higher than your monitor's refresh rate as well, "fast sync" or "enhanced sync" can achieve this. You still get judder, though, which is not ideal.
@@GunF0x honestly I'm convinced that "Vsync" is a term developers throw at something AKIN to Vsync and it totally depends on the game whether it makes it look better or like shit. @@GunF0x Some people might disagree, but VSync on is almost always better. But it's not just me saying that. Every experienced game developer agrees. Think about it this way: If VSync off really was better, you'd think blockbuster AAA games on PS5 and Xbox would be full of screen tearing... But they're not. Because they all use VSync. Game developers know what they're doing.
3:49 Not gonna lie, I have never ever thought about VSync in a GameGrumps episode until this specific one, but I ABSOLUTELY noticed the screen tearing before Dan mentioned it. TY for turning that on. Also, the way VSync works, basically, is a coordination between how your screen and the game render stuff. Your screen draws its contents (refreshes) at a certain rate that's fixed to the hardware. For YT, that's gonna be whatever rate at which your capture card is capturing (like 60fps or 120fps). Your game, without vsync, just throws frames (rendered images) at the screen as soon as they're ready. Sometimes those frames land on the screen while it's in the middle of being refreshed, and when that happens you see part of one frame on top and part of another frame on the bottom, which looks like the screen has torn at the point of refresh. VSync synchronizes the rendering rate of the game with that of your screen, so it only sends frames when the screen is finished drawing a frame, and thus, no tearing. :) Not sure if VSync actually adds latency, but it does cap your frame rate at whatever your screen can support.

Please keep these coming! This is one of the best series in a while!
I love this timeline of game grumps. Wednesdays we go to the buy & leave. Fridays we go to the grumps gas
Dr. Pepper is the only TRUE artificial flavor. It has no real world analog, because the guy who made it wanted it to taste how a specific soda fountain he used to frequent SMELLED.
All the other sodas are technically based off of other real flavors in the world, but good ol Dr. P is the delicious taste reminiscent of the scent from two dozen different congealed soda syrups
I wonder how long it will take for Arin to realize that 1) Red Dot = more expensive, and Green Dot = less expensive, and 2) all bits of trash on the floor can be picked up with the garbage bag, that way he only takes out the trash when the bag is full
Gotta love running right past Dennis near the end as he's tagging the store.
Holy shit they finally turned on v sync in a game.
Hey guys, to make sure customers dont come in, you have to go to the giant sign next to the phone booth and flip the sqitch to close the gas station. Customers won't come, and that gives you time to set up everything without any distractions. Keep up the laughs, Donny and Arnold
I love the "no" from the models In America's next top model...it kills me how bluntly they say it lol
