    well one thing i did learn ....from the comments is why you chop the little trees down ...to clear and clean the forest of non native trees

    If Medford didn't want people to clone his knife he wouldn't charge $700 for $60 worth of D2 and g-10.
    Nobody bothers with the Ontario clones or ZT clones because their prices are reasonable.

      Matte Schmuelling thanks mate, try loosening the screw or just bend the framelock A little the opposite way so ITS not that tight. Hope it helps

      Matte, I own several of these and I can open them one-handed easily. How I do it is to put my thumb on the bottom of the groove (nearest to me), while putting my center finger on the same place on the opposite side. In this way, I pinch it with these fingers on both sides to get it moving open, then do a thumb sweep to the post to completely open it. Hope this helps.

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      oh yes those mofo asking for it, messing up the forest and killing beautiful birch and stuff so they are looked more upon as weed. And to have a good healthy forest you need to trim it down once in a while. ;)

    • @Grummash
      @Grummash 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @dseednorwayn47  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There has been some real bad imports made by dumb people from 1800-1950 that has messed with the forest in some of the places here south in the country. Not cool to see an entire forest choke to death because it normal breathing habit has been invaded by some scary trees. So no sympathies and def chop some more in near future hehe.. cheers mate

    • @Grummash
      @Grummash 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      dseed what species are the "weed trees" ?

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Among many imported hemlok, sitka, lutsi for example. Not sure what they called in english. Some of them use up all the good soil but the wood sucks and cant be used for other than fire. but they have spread into natural forest. If I am not mistaken I think a bunch of them are blacklisted by the country.

      @@dseednorwayn47 I just ordered mine. Did you manage to change the bearings ?
      If so, do you have the specs or a link to the correct parts, and was it an easy job ?
      Also, what angle did you put on the blade that was one chopping trees ?
      Sorry for all the questions, just looking forward to getting mine and customizing it!

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gary Storey No prob mate, knife community all about sharing knowledge and experience :-) I did not change the bearings but I did oil em up and I also loosend the framelock it self a little by force to make it open smooth as butter. But after flicking the other one 500 times it will eventually break in anyway so u dont Need to do that. My experience is that most folder knives Need some breaking in by use. I put on a 25 degree angle with the Lansky Deluxe Controlled-Angle Knife Sharpening System. I really like that kit. 25* is the recommended angle for most knives that need a durable, sharp edge. Ideal for hunting and outdoor knives. But I got to warn You that chopping them trees took Some real wear And tear on the framelock so not recommend doing that.
      I also used paint remover for boats to remove the coating on the blade. Let me know if You do a video on your customazation plz. Have a great day mate 👍🏼

    I saw the original Tactical's video of this and immediately put it on my list because I really like the look of these over-built, "tank knives." But upon further study, I realized I'd never be comfortable carrying such a heavy knife. I once had the Schrade SCH304 which is sort of similar to this and that weighed 270 grams. I sold that as soon as I could. I love your dog.

    great footage you filmed!!
    they carry so exceptionally well! i rarely put sth else in my pocket these days. and whatever the steel is, even if it's 440c, i have no issues with it. for the stuff i'm cutting in an urban environment and mostly indoors anyway i can not complain! for my first i paid $28 and for the second $40.
    splitting wood and chopping is the last thing one should do with a pocket folder and that kind of blade geometry, but it worked itself through those trees and logs like the badass it is lol

    Love my clones!!!
    The people who whine about clones are just not very bright. Just about everything they own comes from China, TV, shoes, phone etc! Yet they hate the idea of a knife that comes from China that’s made at an affordable price!
    The Chinese have proven great knives can be made and sold at very reasonable prices!

  • @comanche6943
    @comanche6943 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    After watching your test I decided to pick up a clone for shits & grins. I have two authentic Praetorian T’s and a 187DP.
    I carry my Praetorian everyday.
    The clone came from a company called Canku via Amazon $30 shipped 2 days! I must say the quality is pretty damn good.
    Dimensionally it’s a little smaller than the Medford the biggest difference is it’s significantly heavier than the real one so it is handle heavy vs. blade heavy. The Medford just feels better balanced because of titanium handles. I’m sure if I put some lightening hold or slots on frame that can help balance. Washers appear to be brass not bronze phosphor. Blade grind is very good and has a good sharp edge.
    I actually like the dark stonewashed finish.
    Happy to say the clone has no Medford markings at all just knife cut out on pocket clip. No phony D2 markings. My T’s are S35 and S90.
    Will give it a workout in a marine environment we’ll see how it holds up.

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man that test is old, maybe you should make a new test video after some hardcore marine use ;). I have actually had quite a few versions of the clones pass thru past few years. Some of them better than others. Turns out the framelock gets easly worn down especially if you like to flick around with it much. Not made for real rough use like a real praetorian and their lifetime is short lived, but with that said I had a lot of fun playing around with them. All knives been real easy to sharpen but with some fine edge on there expect sharpening your clone often.
      Thanks for watching and commenting mate and plz let me know if you make a clone review of it after some usage.

      I think if knife makers didn't start getting greedy and over valuing their skills and time, more people could afford the originals.
      When you throw in waiting lists (3-5 years in some cases) you can understand why these clones sell so well.

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gary Storey i think It is often more a collector thing. I for sure got the original for my collection and not use. And it quite normal for a lot of collectors trading blades among them. And i got to admit there is a few knife makers out there that I gladly be on a waiting list for a year or two.

    I'm going to order one of these. I think I am safe in saying that anyone who desires and can afford the real thing isn't going to buy this instead. They are not going to hurt his sales at all. I'm betting he's getting more advertising out of these copies than he could ever pay for. There is no way I could ever come close to buying a knife o re $1000.00. If I'm spending a grand on s weapon it's gonna be a another Colt M4 or another Colt 1911.
    Think of them as a functional display model of the real thing. Hell, if I did own the real thing I would still buy one of these for daily carry and let the other knife be my Barbecue knife.

      jcgomez glez oh yes and btw let me know if you get one and if you doingsome pimping on it. I used paint remover and 2000 grit sandpaper on the blade to get the coating off and I seen some others on instagram pimping it hehe.

    I dont like the shiny blade on yours at all, mine is like the other, which I love.

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      dfcvda it was just a paint remover test to see if I could get the coating off. Agree it looks bad ass with full black out :) Do a video of yours soon then?

    i just watched the Medford owner fake/ clone rant video, he is not a happy camper!

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      dfcvda that is understandable, but as someone in the comment field suggested that he should make the same design in cheaper material. Look at emerson kershaw collobration etc etc.

    • @dfcvda
      @dfcvda 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes his knives are expensive why is that?

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      dfcvda he gets paid for the design and the material used is way better, these clones can take some beating but not even close to the real one.

    • @dfcvda
      @dfcvda 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      they do look awesome, wish I had the money, I'd defihitely buy one.. even rhough my girlfriend would kill me, ha ha

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +FpsArts / Gh0st it is a replica, not the same quality and material and way cheaper than the original that goes around 800-1200++.

    • @fpsartsgh0st278
      @fpsartsgh0st278 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dseed norway Where can you get one og them? They are pretty cool knives. Do you think they are good?

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for sixty bucks they hold up great, but nothing like the real thing. You can find them on aliexpress and sites like that. Just search for Ti Knives

  • @lanehoward8612
    @lanehoward8612 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ppl spending money on cheap clones keeps the clone makers in business if ppl stop buying them they would stop making the trash and flooding the market!

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Lane Howard it is an endless discussion, but in my case after testing out the clones I went and spent the bucks on a real praetorian. Not sure I would done that with out being able to try out the cheaper version first.

    You don't feel bad supporting thieves who steal another man's blood sweat and tears? Whether you ever planned to buy a real Medford or not, this doesn't give you the right to have the use of his design.

    • @advertech
      @advertech 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i can understand your point of view....but....one knife costs 1200, the other costs 25. i dont think the chinese are taking sales from Medford...if i was Medford, i would capitallize on the lower end of the market.

    • @bladeswelove
      @bladeswelove 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Whether they would ever buy the knife or not, they don't have the right to use the design. It's thievery plain and simple. Also, saying Medford should take advantage of the lower end market is like saying Ferrari should make 15k beaters and slap the horse on it. This just isn't how premium brands work.

    • @dseednorwayn47
      @dseednorwayn47  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, but would like to say that lots of premium brands hustle and work on the sidelines with lots of bad product. Ferrari put their logo on a lot of trashy products. For example they had a collaboration with compaq pc and they put their logo on some pimped lap top and marketed it as a ferrari quality built fast laptop, and let me tell you that was one piss poor pc, and absolutely nothing to do with the fast action quality brand that ferrari like to be. They also put on their logo in collaboration with gaming wheels and joysticks from thrustmaster. And what about the emerson kershaw collaboration? I like the emerson line that kershaw came out with and think it is great to find a budget friendly knife based on the emerson designs. I wouldn't mind a praetorian built with less expensive material in the price range of for example a great zt knife for 2-300 dollars. And yes I do agree with William that it is thievery plain and simple, but also would like to say that for me getting a hold of the replica, which by the way is incomparable with the real thing, made me go to the secondary market and get hold of a real one used for 700 dollars.

    • @bladeswelove
      @bladeswelove 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dseed You know why Emerson did the collab with Kershaw/ZT... His patent on the wave is about to run out and then anyone can do it legally. He's getting the last blood out of the turnip. I think if someone like Medford were to do something budget, they'd be wise to do it under a completely different name. Mixing budget items with premium stuff always drags the perceived value of your high end items down.
