My dad purchased a Yellow 69 off the showroom floor fresh back from the Vietnam War. 383/ w440 heads, Holley highrise, but his had a red bee stripe across the trunk. That car is a legend in my family. He was the man to defeat in a race in Dallas TX. back then.
Very, very, very nice... I grew up in the era of muscle cars, saw them @ high school(mid 70's) on the daily... My first car was a 1969 Dodge Coronet 440, fire engine red, black vinyl roof, red interior and a factory 8-track...
When I heard the exhaust note on the intro I was reminded of why I'm a Mopar fan. Back about 1979 one of my buddies borrowed his MOM's 69 Charger. Stock 440, we think it was a magnum, 90,000 miles on it, automatic. The exhaust note was marvelous! 5 of us - full car - went out for coffee and a cruise - my buddy kept complaining about how badly out of tune it was. After coffee we were facing north and buddy wanted to go south. He pulled out into the intersection and hit the gas. Exhaust roaring, tires howling - half a block later I was able to pull myself up out of the seat and look back. The intersection was full of blue smoke and there were two solid black stripes all the way around the intersection, coming up to meet us! 90 THOUSAND MILES AND BADLY OUT OF TUNE. (And, they're HUGE cars as well) I've been a Mopar fan ever since.
Beautiful car. Nice to see the original steel wheels and not 30" GHETTOS. I love the Six Pack hood. A high school teacher I had back in 1974 had a '69 Super Bee, and that hood really caught my attention. His was orange with no vinyl top and I believe it had the Magnum 500 wheels.
My favorite car ever!! But I do have to say I prefer the double hump hood over the six pack hood. But this is one beautiful Bee!! First one I ever saw was an orange 69 with the hemi that came flying up behind my brother and I when e weee returning from the auto parts store in a 69 Road Runner and we had a long straight away and yes, the fun was on!! I have always wanted a 69 Bee since that day and that was back in either 1980 or 81 and have not been able to locate one yet at the right time that I could afford and now time is starting to quickly run out but who knows. Thanks for sharing!!
Damn.... Wonderful machine! Love the mufflers! Flowmasters are cool, but old school is the BEST! Let's you hear the soul of the engine! Any idea what mufflers those are? She's a brute! Can DEFINITELY hear it gulp when that 6 Pack starts to do work! Thanks Joe, can hardly wait for the W/2 motor & to see your Dart eatin' up the street! Be safe & be blessed!
the band Flamethrower have a song about the Super-Bee called "Super Bee" and another called "I want it all" which has 60's Mopar references in it......
Same color as my V-code 70 Roadrunner. Same Dakota Digital dash. Now I know how the Tuff steering wheel would look in my car (great). I'm building a Bill Mitchell aluminum RB block based 572 for my Roadrunner, ModMan intake and the Holley 6bbl.
Got a friend in San Francisco with a69 super bee hemi, very nice condition, has not been on the road in five years, but it will run right now. But front disc brake is locked up thanks!
You said you never been In one of these cars. I'm 54yrs old not to many people from my generation can say this but first car I ever drove down a drag strip was a 69 1/2 real m code superbee in the 80's. I was 14yrs old
I'm building a 69 super bee clone at the moment but I'm dropping a 6.4 hemi in it only because of cost someday when I get the bread I will put a 440 sixpack in it.
