    I love the flights out of Miami to Rio. It leaves at 11 PM and you arrive at around 6:30 AM, since Brazil is only 1 hour ahead you can arrive and get right to things without losing time. This is true if you can sleep on the plane. I was able to since flights aren't full right now and you can stretch. The return flight is the same schedule leaves around 11 PM to Miami.
    One tip is if you want to go to Rio try to avoid a connection in San Paolo. San Paolo airport is huge and you will have to walk like 45 minutes to 1 hour to get to your connection. Not fun...

    • @djeanpierre
      @djeanpierre  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True indeed. I will no longer fly back to the United States from Rio, but from Manaus. It’s 3 hours closer to Miami and there are not many passengers. When I last flew from Manaus to Miami the flight was 5.5 hours and there were only like 10 passengers on the plane. Like you said, I was able to stretch out.

    I don't think I'd take my iPhone to Brazil. I'd really hate to have it stolen. I'd seriously consider buying a cheap phone in Brazil. I'm really glad you can use a photocopy of your passport. In Kenya they will also let you use a photocopy of your American driver's license or state ID. Thanks for the heads-up in terms of women trying to hug you. I'm already sensing a major problem. In developing countries, an easy way to tell a person's income level is by the clothes he wears. But if one is concerned about getting mugged and therefore dresses simply, many women will not even look at him, for they will see him as a desperado in life. I wonder whether this is the case in Brazil.

      @@Black-Circle Thanks. The reason I really cherish my phone, it's not because of its value. I have a lot of notes that I write for myself on a lot of different things. Even though I could get them back from iCloud, it would kill me to think of someone else reading through them. I love keeping notes and reminders on my phone for it's very convenient.

    Good video but I do not agree with a few things ... I travel light 7-8 kg total , i do not bring flipflops I buy on site it's a good way to meet people who have a job ! ... I always buy a cellphone with 2 Sim card slots get a local number for internet it usually is super cheap you can almost forget using WiFi networks .
    ATM machine I only go in the morning then bring back card to the room/apartment where I stay . At time of booking I book for 2 people say my gf will come later . I usually ask for cleaning lady to wash my clothes she gets extra money ok if you are staying static in one place then a washing machine is better ... Lots of other stuff...

    I disagree at least a 30 days in Brazil 🇧🇷. I was in Rio de Janeiro for 30 days in December 2019. Here is my take don't be a lazy tourist. I'm old school and been traveling independently for over 40 years. This is what I do first I purchase a lonely planet travel guide, a English to Spanish dictionary a detailed paper map and I try to learn at least 100 common phrases. This will give up a lot of information before you even land in a foreign country. Again this is only my opinion. A ten day visit will make sure that you will be a tourist and not a traveler. But you did give a lot of valuable information in this video 📹. I used both the bus and the subway I don't know for sure if this is still available you can get a card and load money for multi-sides. I put 100 real on my card and had money 💰 left when I left Brazil 🇧🇷. Wear a money belt also when in the streets.

    • @djeanpierre
      @djeanpierre  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You already know that most travelers have regular jobs and can’t take 30 days off, which is why I said at least 10 days.

    • @markrush2319
      @markrush2319 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is my point put in the effort and the work you figured out a way to travel to Brazil many times you put in the effort and the work it is OK to be a tourist don't get me wrong but all you will have is a tourist experience and that's not a bad thing at all I just have a different perspective on traveling that is my only point.

      the problem with you gringos is that you think we speak spanish here, for fuck's sake. Learn once and for all, NOBODY speaks spanish here, and don't even try because it's considered of low taste and disrespectful. The languages may look similar to the illiterate, but in reality are very different.

    If your going to spend a few months or longer in Brazil you might as well get a Vivo or Tim SIM card with a local number. I pay $R 80 a month or roughly $16 dollars for 6 gigs of internet and unlimited calls.
    Surf or water shoes 👟 are very difficult to find here and useful for rocky or coral beaches also don't do the Rocinha Favela tour in chinelos.
