These are the times of out lives and nothing better than climbing to that part of your mind and enjoying a trip to the best times!!

First board in 83. Proper pro board in 88. Lived it for a long time until 04. While getting a second wind and skating best I had for a while, I broke my back while skating. That a whole story in itself but it was bad. When it's your life, it defined u, having it taken away was the worst. I went into a downward spiral, as skating was everything. My psychological crutch, my anger tension release, my social life. Everyone knows what I mean, and losing that was bad. I still appreciate the years I had, that was obviously the best days of my life.

About 1974, begged my mom to bye me a GT knock off from Pic n Save, ha ha. First real board was a Sims with Trackers, Sims wheels. Still remember the excitement walking into Sandy's Ski shop to get it. Then I got a 10" wide from a shop on Venice blvd, they had their own "Venice" boards. Bought some Independents and a friend's older brother sold me some conned Sims wheels. Took it to MDR skate park pro shop and had them do a custom pizza gip tape job. Man, loved that board!

First board was a flexy deck in '82. But i wasn't yet IN to skateboarding. I was 8. Only in '88 did i get my first deck, a worn down, beated up Steve Caballero deck. The first music which came from the skateboard community that i really loved was that of the H Street movie, Hocus Pocus. I still love it. Don't skate anymore, just took on surfing as i missed skateboarding but didn't want to risk the injuries anymore.

I started in 87. First started riding around on a fiberglass board my uncle made out of plaster. Chicago wheels and some sort of trucks. Then he let me skate his pink steadham with bones wheels and gullwings. The first board that was actually mine was a vision with blue venture trucks and green vision shredder wheels. The store called the deck a “punk skull” but I’ve never seen one again. The board was about the same size as me. I skated that for a couple years then got a blind gonz with some boobs on it and I learned how to flip my board on that one. Finally got some lighter trucks too. Right when the small wheels thing started my parents couldn’t get me wheels so me and my friend sanded our wheels down to basically bearing covers but they had hella flat spots. Got some blown out wheels kicked to me and skated those til Xmas when my mom got me a 6 pack of real smalls and that’s when my trick bag started really growing. 41 now and never been off the board even a whole year since I was 5 in 87. Skate almost every day with my 7 yr old now. We have our own probate ditch here in TX that we shred anytime it’s dry and we have our own basketball court none of the neighbors use that we set up the manny pad and skate flat when the ditch is wet.

remeber agent orange album "when you least expect it", blaring it till i had to fix the tape with a scotch tape fix.

Started skating in 72 grandpa bought me a board from Kmart! It was over, I was completely obsessed!! My first experience with a skate park was Indy skatepark in Indpls. This place was all fiberglass modular. With this weird thing call skate ball. And it would seem no one is left out there that knows about it! Put 0.50 cents in this half pipe a horn would go off on a score board you had 90 seconds to skate and run over as many lit bumpers as possible for the high score. The bumpers were 8" round disks that depressed when you ran over them! Scoring you points!😂 we had a 7' wide 3/4 pipe that had one bumper 4" from the top. And we all killed ourselves trying to score on it.
Sents then I've skated all over the country Roseta Delmar Oasis Cherry hill Turf Apple Kona Highroler and many others.
If you find a skateball ramp. I would love to restor it. Now 53 years later I am the pioneer of GatorSkin skat surface have been a builder for 30 years and a veteran skater of 60. Skating was is the best thing that ever happend to me except for my relationship with Christ!! Thank you for the trip down memory lane . I hope to hear more from you!!
Ps I'd love to swop stories with you!.

I started in Normandy, France in 1988, second wave.First deck was a Psycho Stix like millions of dudes who fell for that graphics...Deck wasn't that good though and I quickly switched to a SC Jeff Kendall (atomic man).I had 159 indys with a cell block at the back(jocks put it also on the front...), green Shredder Vision wheels and pink Schmitt Stix rails.I never quit since.I am now 51 years old.

Definitely a great seed for a conversation. My first board was an Executioner that I sold my BB gun to buy. But my first "real" board was a pink Tony Hawk pig in 1985. Our skate shop in WI had a ton of product and they were cool enough to let us build boards literally piece by piece... so I got Gullwing trucks and got to pick 4 different colored baseplates and hangers. then OJii wheels in 4 colors too. White rails and of course a tail skid. Pretty sure it had blue grip. I was da-glow af! Hahaha. I have been skating continuosly ever since and feel very fortunate to still be able to get out there and do it at 53. I never imagined it would be possible.

I love this! Great document! First board in ‘78, a “Sizzler” by Mattel, plastic deck, plastic trucks, loose ball bearings and a tuning fork shaped wrench screwed to the bottom to remove the wheel hubs. Learned to ride that piece of garbage pretty well! First “pro” board was a Town & Country Burst with red Gullwing Pro trucks, Madrid Street Fly 90a wheels, GMN bearings, copers that fell off all the time (to protect those sweet red trucks!), a Variflex wrap around tail guard, Ugly Stix and (drumroll…) a Bird lapper. Must’ve weighed as much as me and it wasn’t until I ditched all of the plastic besides the rails that I learned to Ollie. I probably rode it for a year till it had no tail left, then a Phillips (RIP) Breakout, then a Blender Coffebreak and on and on and on… Thanks for all of your videos! Fantastic stuff!

Dec 2017, as i turned 41, i picked up a board and have not put it down as i come up on 47.

Roskopp III mini in sky blue, picked it up June 27, 1986 (yes! I remember the exact date + it was also around the time of the 2nd Mt. Trashmore NSA contest in VB). This was after nagging my mom for a skateboard for about 6 months ("it's a fad like breakdancing."). Components: Gullwing trucks weighing about 5 pounds each (heard Indies break -- pretty much my only deviation from Indy) and OJIIs -- full plastics except the lapper. I can't really say whether the Gullwing radius led to poor turning as I ran 'em fully tight initially although that certainly wasn't the case later on...
I actually remember the exact deck progression of skating journey I from 1986 - 1991. I decided to quit skating due to a serious injury and didn't pick it up again until the mid-2000s. As a local 80s pro once told me, I can remember this sh*t because I wasn't smoking weed BITD.

My first skateboard was a Black Flag Loose Nut with Tracker Ultra lights and Sims street wheels that were purple. That was from a Surf shop that had some boards. That was summer of 1985. We had moved to Cali from Austin, Texas. I had raced BMX and saw some guys. skateboarding in between race motos. It was inspiring at 10 years old to see this, I turned 11 that summer and got the board and a used surfboard at Wahl Boards in Pismo where I went to 6th grade, and in 7th grade I heard Black Flag, The Misfits, Minor Threat, DK, and Doggy Style from my friend Danny Esparza. At 12 I started learning to play guitar and learned about Heavy Metal. I played in Punk Rock bands in the mid 90's Terminal Digust "The Price of War" was the first full length release in 1996, i then went on to play in Death Metal, Black Metal, and Grind Core bands the last 30 years. I still play in a Death Metal band called Goretorium in Austin with the same drummer since 2006, who I met in 2003 skating on North Loop here in ATX. I stopped skating in 2004 after hurting myself on my buddy's 8ft backyard halfpipe. In 2020 I started skating again at age 46. I got some rad Roskopp reissues, Neil Blender reissues, some Hosoi Hammerheads. I have 18 decks of which 6 complete setups I ride on my backyard mini half that 4ftx16ft on one side, 4ftx8f and 5ftx8ft on the other side. It has 3ftx8ft on one side and 3ftx4ft on the other side. 4 sided with 6ft transitions. I started watching all of your old videos in the spring of 2021. Cops took it. Still bummed to this day. 2nd Gonz. 3rd Aggresor. 4th Cab Dragon. Gets fuzzy after that. 5th Roskopp? Def had a slick bottom in there somewhere. Several more for sure. Better job. More money to blow on shit. Lots of reissued wall hangers.

The board that I saved my paper route money for was a Gordon Smith fiber flex slalom board with full tracker trucks and road rider sixes. There was the short-lived, Concord skate park and the skate park and Milpitas, but they might’ve will have been on Mars. Luckily, one of my friends, dad was cool and took us to Milpitas where I got to meet Tim Marting who was super cool and almost got in a fight with black heart. He cut into my line and then jumped on me about it. He tried shoving me thinking I wasn’t looking, but I was watching his shadow and totally. Blocked his shove, and came back with a punch, that scared the shit out of him😂. I still have my GS bowl rider with Gull wings and Powell-Peralta bones

This is fantastic, it has got me reminiscing about my early days, the boards I rode, the places we skated and all of the amazing people I skated with throughout the years.

My dad bought me my first skateboard from Westminister swap meet. It had like a coyote on it I think. I never had any money so we would dumpster dive Gremic or buy old boards from guys working there with laundry quarters.

1st punk rock: Circle Jerks Group Sex. Being 11 years old, I didn't really know what the title was about -- but I remember it being loud with short songs and kind of catchy even back then. My dad, who I was visiting, threw away the tape after discovering and listening to it. Being kind of liberal, he wasn't opposed to it but did not think it was age-appropriate..

Classic. My Mom asked me the same thing. I didn't know what the name of the group meant. She explained it. Very uncomfortable moment 😂
