There wasn't much WWE could do. ECW edited tapes, and really most WWE fans had no idea what ECW was. Also, Bruce Pritchard doesn't know how to book violence by not really using violence. Paul Heyman did, but WWE hates Paul Heyman suggesting thing

    • @kjpierson1152

There was no bringing it back. It is like bringing back something with a sell by date 10 years before. Things had changed too much. It had to change, it couldn't just be ECW again, but no one knew how to do that really. Nor do I think people really wanted to. Vince wanted a third show to throw off some lower talent on at times, Heyman I think was just "Okay sure, I get paid either way".

I think the Lawler angle was fantastic. Only difference I would have made was to put Tommy Dreamer with RVD and Sabu, because the dude can wrestle. That was the whole point, that none of them could wrestle and only knew how to make each other bleed. It was so spot on... except for that one little oversight of not having Dreamer with them. Half the roster had any actual talent, and it was great to see someone point that out.

    • @tyrone5969
      @tyrone5969 ปีที่แล้ว +15

Rarely is it appropriate to blame something on the minor when adults are involved in something so fucked up.
But it’s absolutely his fault. He lied to every person, at every level and at every stage.
Then he went and asked the most unstable and shoot violent person in wrestling history to blade him.
Someone who is so dedicated to shoot violence that he’s openly admitted to trying to kill other wrestlers in the ring.
Him and his father forced their way into the situation and then had the nerve to sue.
All of that said, there’s multiple cases of minors getting into the ring and the promoters NEED to do their due diligence vetting the local performers they use.
It’s a simple matter of checking their ID before anything happens.
Something made even easier when states have digital IDs that can be scanned to verifying authenticity.
But yeah, the kid is definitely carrying 90% of the blame here. He demanded he get put into this position, worked to make it even worse, was hurt because of it and then his family sued.
      Gotta love Murican litigious culture!

Jerry Lawler is 💯% correct! _"Extreme"_ professional wrestling existed long before most people involved in ECW were born; and all ECW accomplished was to shorten & kill wrestlers' careers, because most of the idiots involved in it didn't know what the hell the were doing. They took unnecessary risks and injured each other unnecessarily. By contrast, even in the extreme wrestling in the 70's and early 80's wrestlers took care of each other, because they knew that it meant they could keep making money together. Yes, there was blood, but wrestlers from that era didn't get injured nearly as much as they did in ECW (and present day WWE); and they didn't suffer from CTE related injuries, either.
ECW was shite! Nothing but crash TV garbage for wrestlers who didn't know how to get themselves over elsewhere. Those who did learn how to get themselves over, did so more outside of the ECW.

Honestly Big Show was right about the ECW fans not wanting him or Batista to be in ECW because they weren't originals and Big Show clearly was getting at something about Vince's booking

I don't think Jim Cornette and Jerry Lawler count as "working for ECW". Neither was under contract, Cornette didn't even want to get paid (although Heyman ended up paying him anyway and going back on his word in regards to apologizing to Dennis).

I liked WWE when I was a kid... but I loved TNA, and I loved watching all the ECW hardcore heaven dvds, because they went for the extreme angles. I cannot understand why someone would enjoy watching 2 dudes do nothing other than bounce off ropes and clothesline each other for 5 minutes.

They really shouldn't have used the letters ECW if it wasnt going to be like the real ECW. They should've called it something else honestly. They killed that brand off within their first 2 shows on television.

The rebirth being on the Sci-Fi channel didn't win the brand any points in my book either. It didn't really fit the channel very well. At least, the thought of what it was supposed to be didn't. They started adding in vampires, zombies, and other dumb crap probably to go with the channel identity a bit more. I remember being so disappointed in what I watched.
