    When I started playing magic when the Set Ravnican Allegiance, I liked Gruuls big stompy creatures, but after taking one of the online tests I was told I was Selesnia which was a guild I enjoyed the philosophy of. My new favorite guild is probably the Orzhov because I like there appearance and connections to ghosts.

    My favorite guild is the Boros Legion, for their passionate drive for justice, being my favorite dual color combination, connection with Gideon Jura, my favorite planeswalker and mix of paladin and crime drama flavor.

    I was enamoured and inspired by the original Ravnica set and lore ever since I was 5 years old. Thank you for covering and summarizing this plane!

    As a passionate Izzet Player i have to say... no Lightning can be 'To Strong' and no experiment 'To Dangerous'
    We are here to expand the borders of what can be done with Steam and Power, Water and Fire, Time and Space step by step.
    Mark my words fellow Ravnican Citizens! The time will come where the Izzet's glorious minds will be seen as the TRUE science masters all over Ravnica!

    Let's go Simic! Thanks for the Ravnica videos, is my favorite plane (next to Dominaria).

    I’ve been drawn to Golgari since I first got into Magic, but Selesnya comes close second

    Any chance of the earlier sets stories being explored? Started on Legion set would be cool to see the whole saga of classics like Phage Akroma and Kamahl

    On a personal note Orzohv would be my go to guild if not for my love for blue/black. The fact it’s one of the few guilds in open communication with the Dimir is another reason to pick them

    Lore wise the Izzet and Simic aren't friends. but Set wise they make a killer Tri-color deck. I have a Izzet/Simic deck thats won me some Local Tourneys way back in the day.

    Very pleased with the video overall, but you paint the Boros and ignore their police brutality, fascist side.

    Okay, Magic has a lot of cool settings, but Magical Ecumenopolis controlled by insane guilds has to be one of the coolest. Like I legitimately just want a miniseries series set on Ravnica, doesn't even have to be some world shaking plotline, just a bunch of people surviving a gang war on Ravnica during the period the guild pact wasn't enforced. Imagine how cool a fight/chase scene through the streets could be, especially if it spills out into one of the Zonads and leads the characters into the undercity or something. Something along the lines of Edgerunners or Arcane.

    Early on when I began playing Magic I was drawn to red and white for its destructive and staying power through damage and life gain. I wasn't long before the first Ravnica block and set; Ravnica: City of Guilds. There I found the Boros Legion and a new perspective. I had when I was younger an aggressive streak that wasn't the healthiest and the fictional faction taught me that instead of trying to quell that rage and fire as many wanted me to do, instead direct it where it might be useful and welcomed instead, putting that energy to better use. The Boros allows rage and passion but gives it direction for the greater good. Much have I learned through fiction where the real world failed me. For that and other reasons, I am a legionnaire forever.
    FOR THE LEGION!

      @carlosalbuquerque22 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Boros engage in police brutality so maybe not the best example. The Jeskai seem more like what you want

      @@carlosalbuquerque22 I see this sometimes and I'm sure that's true about some in the Legion but I don't know what specific event they are referencing (and none have yet said) that has to do with the Legion itself in the setting of Ravnica. I don't want to go into the myriad different ways this is too oversimplified, so a list:
      In the books it isn't represented as such, though we largely follow Agrus Kos and the League of Wojek (Feather might qualify?)
      As far as I know (I might have missed a story) the side stories say nothing of this. I do seem to recall something about Vraska, but I only remember the Azorius doing her wrong.
      The League of Wojek and the main army are different entities (Wojek being the main policing force versus the standing army). The Wojek are often portrayed in the books as pretty regular.
      The times I'm aware of force used was in defense from a crazed ghost, the attack on Centerfort and Wojek command, the skirmish with the Selesnya, the quelling of the Tenth District of Gruul and Rakdos (all parties were violent), and dealing with the Gateless rebellion. Another incident was in Agyrem and the defense of the Parhelion 1.
      Other guilds also are often doing similar things, and have a large diversity of members who may be more inclined to such violence. This isn't to excuse such acts by the Legion, but to say that painting most groups or organizations with a large brush isn't great.
      Outside of all this aside, I'm more Jeskai now anyway, but I'll stand with the Legion.

    • @iudexumbra609
      @iudexumbra609 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, the quelling might have been the Nineth district. It's been a while.

      @@iudexumbra609 See how Aurelia overthrew Feather for instance. And how in the old trilogy the Boros are fine with a fascist state.

    • @iudexumbra609
      @iudexumbra609 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carlosalbuquerque22 As far as I know Aurelia gained popular support and the coup was bloodless (though people were shamed into silence).
      I have the books. I'm not sure where it said the Boros want a fascist state. I do know in the extremes of their color identity it can come to that, but both the guildpact and other machinations kept those individuals at bay.
      After the guildpact was dissolved, the Boros largely served as mercenaries before being reorganized and Aurelia creating the theatres after usurping Feather (questionable canon here due to Agents of Artifice).

    First of all, I must say a huge thank you for all the work you have done.
    It was wonderful.
    And now, in response to the question, if I have to choose only one guild, it will be Simic.
    Everything from their architecture and design, to their philosophy and color combination, I fell in love with them the first time I met them.
    Definitely my color combination.
    I would say the Golgari and Izzet are also very interesting.
    But, in general, I find the enemy-colors more interesting in their manifestations.
    Allied-colors seem to complement each other, smoothing out corners and enhancing certain aspects of each other, but with enemy-colors there are many contradictions and even conflicts, which creates a rather interesting dynamic.

    I started playing Magic back in the mid 2000s and Ravnica was the first set I came into start to finish. Back then, I was so enamored with the flavor and fluff of the guilds that I exclusively constructed decks around mechanics and things around guilds. I almost never won using those decks but it was fun as hell thinking of and role playing the deck as guild collaborations much like government agencies would.
    I still find it funny how some guilds specifically function as governmental or representative unions... Rakdos essentially being the entertainment industry and more comically a bunch of blood-crazed theater kids still splits my sides.

    I am DMastering a DnD Campaign in Ravnica. Your video are great for inspiration!. Unfortunately, we are playing a "What if?" in which Jace disappeared and they need to solve the Maze, so I can't share these videos or I spoiler everything (they are unaware of Bolas and every planeswalker involved with him XD)
    Favourite guild Boros hands down, epic, Just, and passionate!
