The pattern for the bat shawl my sister made docs.google.com/file/d/0B53Qt4tPM1ouSlJzRld2SGhmdTA/edit?pli=1&resourcekey=0-XfvPTaXVfU_AY15K8CCUow
I always love when Brittany is in the videos! I know she doesn't always enjoy being on camera but it's always fun to see her on the channel when she's up for it. 😊
I block my acrylic projects all the time and it always works. I don’t know why people keep insisting it doesn’t work. IT WORKS.
I’ve always steamed acrylic projects! I didn’t know other folks thought it couldn’t be done! I’m so glad it worked for you, your sweater is lovely! And I love how your sister’s shawl turned out!!
Me Too!!!! I had no idea people thought you couldn't steam acrylic. When i hang steam i literally just hang it in the bathroom while i shower and it always loosens the project up.
@@alexkass5548oh my god that’s such an amazing idea wtf i’m going to have to do that!
Acrylic does steam it’s what works the best actually
STEAM FTW with acrylic, imo. I agree. Gorgeous sweater, as always! How funny, I LOVE the Friends 8/4😂. Hobbii is AMAZING ☺️🫶🏻🧶🧡🧙🏻 xx
Totoro absolutely is the star of this episode, a very nice sweater and I'm a big fan of the hobbii halloween stuff but your cat just has that star quality.
It’s always a joy to see Brittany on screen! Loved her shawl ❤❤
Thank you for sharing your sisters projects AND her pattern
i just finished the yarn horizon. though in a different color but it didn't throw up the same way as yours.. i actually like how it goes from thin stripes to thick stripes. really a nice sweater you made! ❤
Right in time for crochet along with you in the vid!
Michelle I adore your videos and aesthetic, you are just an amazing soul my lady 🙏🏻💖
As a cosplayer who also does crochet/fiber arts, I can tell you exactly why steam blocking your acrylic (or any other synthetic fibers) works.
When you steam block synthetics, you are basically heating up the fibers enough so they can become soft and pliable (while not melting) and molding them into place. They will basically lock into place whenever they cool down.
It’s also why you might have to block your synthetic made items multiple times. They heated up while in use and were stretched and pulled into a weird shape or they were warping with the twist of the fibers themselves.
As an acrylic girlie, I love to steam everything! It makes the projects so much nicer!!!!
I love the sweater as it is, the bigger stripes on the sleeves add something to it. Lovely.❤
10:39 Oh, wow, that yarn is definitely a lot thinner than it looks caked up/worked up! I've used a yarn like that, too - it looked like it was MUCH thicker until you actually pulled it and started to use it! I see why you'd have to go up by a whole size/size and a half now!
I always block my acrylic and it works great 😍 Cute Halloween projects ❤️
The sweater turned out awesome! And that shawl is gorgeous!
I find your videos so comforting and warming! Always love crocheting along. You and your sister, and Totoro, are adorable too.
Great see you again Brittany! Great work!
As cute as the chunky stripes are for your sweater, i really love the thin stripes a lot!
I'm currently working up my first ever crochet sweater, a raglan granny stitch sweater. Your vids gave me the courage fo finally try working up a sweater for the first time! There's been some trial and error, but it's been fun!
Steaming definitely works with acrylic. I always steam my acrylic sweaters. Just straight water(or spraying it), does not work. The heat helps a log.
Since I hardly ever do research, I didn’t know you couldn’t stream acrylic yarn. I just did it for a project a few weeks ago and I think it helped so maybe I was just stubbornly determined to make it work 😝 I love the way the sweater turned out but doing that wavy design would look sooo cool!
Love the s;hawl too!! Super pretty!
Thank you for your video(s), all of them, and for including your sister's makes. It's fun watching and listening to you, and of course, the popped in references of your inspirations. I look forward to Sundays so I can see what you have done.🙃🥰
I'm so excited to see a Halloween project!
so many good projects, loooove the colours of the sweater!! and love when your sister turns up, its like the two sides of halloween :)
Love the sweater!!!
Very cute sweater! I love it 🥰
Yeah acrylic needs steam because it's basically plastic so the heat softens is so it can be reshaped by blocking.
Also, any insight on the cost duties/taxes/customs brokerage when ordering hobbi into Canada? I avoiding international sellers to avoid surprise customs fees, but it miss a lot of options that way
Only one time did i get charged for duties and taxes on a hobbii order.
@michelle_jasek That's kinda the impression I got from looking into it, seems to be a bit of a gamble, sometimes there's a surprise bill and sometimes not, which makes it really hard to predict!
my cat Smoke INSISTS on sitting on my lap under whatever im working on like a little kitty blanket.
Howdy Michelle!! Love your Halloween Hobbi yarn & your crocheted works!! The pullover is gorgeous❤! Also love your sister’s projects too!!!
[Side note: Secret Yarnery has 5 MUST-TRY Crochet Sweater Patterns for beginners, you are EXPERIENCED, I am NOT!!!😂 But the Tammy Sweater is pretty, thoughts that yarn you used for your pullover would make a super sweater.]
You guys are so cute together!
You absolutely can block acrylic yarn. I literally did it this morning and it blocks really well. You just have to make sure if you are steam blocking it (which is the method I would use), you control as much as you can the temperature and distance the steam is from the piece. Keep testing to make sure its warm and wet, but not so warm/hot that you're going to melt it. It's just about being careful.
The Halloween Horizon is a very nice colour palette I would wear all year round (if I lived in a cold climate)
I love love LOVE your sister's bat shawl! It would be so cool if you could add some sort of wrist ties or handles and then tie it down so you could actually run around with flowy bat wings XD
Gorgeous yarns can’t wait to see what you are going to make out of it
I don't have a sister so I get such a kick out of seeing you two interact lol
I'm working with this yarn right now and OH MY GOSH it just slips off in huge chunks and I have to untangle the absolute mess. I love that its soft and the swirl they sell it in looks pretty, but there has got to be a better way of winding this up to avoid the incredible tangles.
Yes I had to re-cake it up myself to be able to use it I didn’t care for the thickness either, it wasn’t very consistent in thickness throughout and I got a lot of weavers knots 😢 probably won’t be ordering from them again.
@@Gcarly425 I usually love their yarns! I've used several of their other varieties, but never this style before. I thought about recaking mine too, but I was in the middle of a panel and couldn't be bothered. I just h a d to try and make sure none of the sections slid off when I moved it or took it in and out of my project bag.
Right! I would move the yarn a little and the yarn would just slip right off. I spent so much time untangling it!
I like you two Girls. And I like your projects too.🥰
I have never used that yarn brand before. I might have to try it out
Just in case it helps a future person. In my experience acrylic can totally be blocked with a steamer and it works really well. I’ve also wet acrylic to block it and it definitely doesn’t work as well as steaming but it’s better than it was before blocking.
I really wanted to buy that yarn, but I already have so many projects I want to crochet. Maybe next year!
you can def block acrylic but i think it only works with steam if you do it too much it "kills" the fiber but that in itself is a technique used for certain projects
steam blocking works for acrylic. wet blocking does not. the plastic needs the heat to relax it but cant be ironed because it will melt :)
Hi Michelle the pumpkin and haunted house decorations, are they vintage Avon? Where did you get them? Love your videos! ❤
They could be? Unsure. We’ve had them ever since i was a kid in the early 90’s! 🎃
Great projects again! I love it when Brittany joins you 🫶🏼 I have followed her on instagram since she made your duck 🦆 and she makes some really lovely things as well. I do love her shawl 🥰 I keep saying I’m going to try a raglan, one day I’ll get there 😂
you have to get all your scraps and make T her own "scrappy blanky" iv had to make all 4 of my pets (2 cats 2 dogs) their own blanky cos they always wonna lay on what im making something my white cat tries to lay in my arms like a baby while im trying to crochet lol
Great projects! You and your sister are so alike
Wow, your sister does great work! Never thought about the striping doing different n the sleeves, thank you for sharing your experience, not crazy about the colored ribbing, but I 🤟🏻 how the sweater fits you!
Does your sister have a written pattern for that shawl? NEED
I second this! I've been in love with shawls recently & I require this one as well.
pin.it/6gt6O3nFo this is the link my sister sent me for the pattern she used for the shawl 😊 you just have to open it in Pinterest to get the unblurry photo of it.
@@michelle_jasek thank you!!!
@@michelle_jasekthank you!
Needed this video today 🧡🙏
There is something about crochet and pets. My dog always steals my work in progress but once it's done, he's not interested.
😂😂
I always block my acrylic projects. It always works for me lol
Acrylic is plastic, so of course steam blocking should work. Plastic becomes malleable with heat (but not too much). I don't know why people would tell you it wouldn't lol
Totoro takes her job as fibercraft (fi-purr-craft) inspector very seriously.
We Stan Totoro ❤❤❤
I would love to make the batwing shawl, it looks fantastic! Is there a pattern somewhere?
I have linked the pattern in a comment that is now pinned to the top of the comment section 😊
@@michelle_jasek Thank you! :D
slayyy!! it look so good!!
9:43 That's what we call yarn barf! When you're pulling from the center, and you yank out a massive tangle? Yarn barf. When you're pulling from the outside and a bunch of loops just fall off the ball in a weird chunk that doesn't make logical sense based on how the yarn is caked? Yarn barf.
Oh, how we all suffer from yarn barf smh my head
You are beautiful and talented and funny.
Is there a pattern for the sweater 😍
22:24 for reference for me ❤
What pattern did you use for the raglan sweater?
It was mjsoffthehook reglan pattern!
@@michelle_jasek thank you so much! ❤️
👻🎃🐈⬛
your first yarn link is broken :(
The link is not broken, the yarn is just unfortunately sold out 😭
that makes sense since it’s gorgeous!
