Just did mine, new master and booster. I think the water runs off the rig and drips on the master cover. Not sure how it gets by the rubber seal. Be sure to check your slave cylinders. You may want to put a vacuum on your booster to check for leaks while you are in there. PS - It is not easy to get to the four nuts on the backside of the booster. Unless you have edited your dash.

Some owners take a plastic 2 liter bottle, cut it in half, and use that to keep rain from running into the master cylinder.
