    What a play from Kevin Turner. I remember this like yesterday. R.I.P. Kevin.

      💯🔥👍When Kevin died I definitely had to reevaluate how I enjoy American football. He was amazing on this day.

    I was at this game one the best games ever. my friends left early, and I wasn't leaving til the game was over it's too bad they missed such an amazing comeback

      Look you
      Leave early in a game like this I don’t think you can even call yourself a sports fan.

      You never know when it comes to football, especially when both teams have a good offence

    A good test to see if a Patriots fan cared about the team before Brady/Belichick is whether they know about this game or not.

      Patriots started 3-2, lost four straight entering this game. At halftime of this game backup quarterback Scott Zolak implored coach Parcells to take the shackles off Bledsoe. Parcells didn’t believe in relying on the quarterback but consented and the Patriots won seven straight starting with this game.

      Assuming you are old enough to remember it. I remembered the Hugh Millen years. That was much worse.

      I remember. I always liked McPherson because he made the Patriots believe in themselves again after the utter failure of 1990

      @@STP43FAN1agree but they were awful for 4 years until this game. This was a very important win in my patriots fandom. It made us believe and we went to a preseason game the following summer.

    • @STP43FAN1
      @STP43FAN1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah. The collapse started in 1989 between key injuries in the preseason and never getting consistent good play out of their quarterbacks (to where Champagne Tony Eason got traded mid-season)

    Amazingly, 27 years later this record still stands even with the NFL being almost strictly a passing league today. No one else has ever thrown 70 passes in a game.

    • @STP43FAN1
      @STP43FAN1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Part of it is quarterbacks are scoring more long before they can get to 50 passes. Bledsoe got to 70 because they had to keep throwing to get back into the game.

    The big game this day was Cowboys at Niners later on; this game though marked a turning point for the Patriots franchise

      This was the era that made us believe. Without the tough times in the early 90’s I don’t think I would have appreciated the pats run of 9 superbowl in 20 years nearly as much. This era was fun and they should have won in 96 if the covered that kick better.

    Yes this game was in the pre Brady/Belichick era but dont forget Drew Bledsoe did get his Super Bow ring about 8 years later as a backup to Brady.

    Take note all you Pats haters who want to pretend that “no one watched the Patriots before Brady”….do you hear that SOLD OUT CROWD? This was Bledsoe’s SECOND YEAR!! I remember watching this game (I grew up in Boston) A LOT of younger Pats fans forget just how good Bledsoe was….the thing I always remember about him was his arm strength but also he always seemed to throw picks at the WORST TIMES!! I remember he threw 2 in the SB against Favre and the Packers!!

    • @jasonwebb3727
      @jasonwebb3727 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s why he lost his job. Young Brady did nothing but remain calm in big spots and avoid turnovers. That won bill over and drew was done. Turned out that bill and Tom were both gonna be just fine.

    DB11 was my childhood idol. 45/70, 426yds, 3TD's and ZERO picks!

      Same as me, man. I hated Brady in 2001; wanted Drew back in when he was healthy.
      I've changed my mind lol but still love Drew

      Drew Bledsoe was the man. Drew Bledsoe's favorite target was the original # 87 Ben Coates. The dynamic duo.

      I hated Brady too... but he won me over cuz he was sooo classy...and there he was High Fiving and Cheering Drew on in the 2001 AFC championship game against Steelers...I was pissed because I wanted to Hate Tom, but I couldn't..Brady & Bledsoe are my Favorite Patriots all time

    Bledsoe. 45 completions, on 70 pass attempts, for 426 yards, 3 touchdowns, no interceptions

  • @rrh1980
    @rrh1980 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Somehow someway i caught the radio reception of this game from Boston in my bedroom in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Bledsoe still holds the record for pass attempts and completions from this game.
    This is amazing tho...Bledsoe in a Shark Tooth Patriots hat and Kevin Turner RIP catching that TD and the happy crowd obscures it a little.

    20-0 at one point and Bledsoe and the Patriots come ROARING BACK... The original game plan was not working and they go to a no huddle attack...

    • @STP43FAN1
      @STP43FAN1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This game and the resulting seven-game win streak illustrated the fatal flaw in Parcells. The more control he had over the team the worse they played. He didn’t want to run no-huddle passing football.

    The Dungy era Vikings defense was never the same after this game.

      Before this game, you couldn't even blame the defense for their earlier losses at Green Bay and Arizona.
      After this game................ different story

    I was at this game. The place was on fire the second half and in OT. Turner caught the winner in our endzone, wrong corner though.
