      This and other Lakeside products are food bank staples. Another is pouches from Ameriqual. They make entrees for MREs. The pouches can be heated in boiling water or used like regular canned goods. DO NOT MICROWAVE the pouches.

    I was given some of these cans of Lakeside Beef by my lovely neighbors. I made beef & noodles once. It was wonderful! Then I’ve also made beef & barley soup. Those were both delicious!

    I get this & canned pork from food banks as it's only place I've ever seen em for sale besides the old Piggly Wiggly grocery store some years ago. Otherwise, I believe it's only available online & is among the government food distribution deals.

    I have 4 cans of the beef and 2 of the pork. My neighbors got them from the local food pantry and gave them to me. They said it was an acquired taste.
    Man was they right. I too made spaghetti. It was awful. It tasted more like cardboard than it did beef.
    Now I’m here searching for recipes.
    All I can say is, spice to taste. Don’t just assume it’s a hamburger replacement. It is not!!

    • @vinceraven1501
      @vinceraven1501 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, the pork is actually better. Especially with red pepper flakes & a mix of onion & garlic powders. The beef has a strange flavor at times, like cardboard & driftwood lol. 🤔

      @@BigBrian That was pretty good! Like you, I never heard of canned beef and was reluctant to try it until I watched your video. What I do differently is once the spaghetti is cooked, I rinse it off and throw the spaghetti into a pan with heated spaghetti sauce. Also, I put some Chief Paul Prudhomme Pizza and Pasta Magic Seasoning Blends and Andy Roo's Cajun Fried Chicken Seasoning in the sauce which is suggested on the label you can use in just about anything. I experiment with spices for flavor since I have high blood pressure.
