    Belgian Millitary ordered the g4 combat sets and field uniforms for the whole army. We are supposed to get them in 2023. Crye's supplying them for 15 years. Glad we get quality gear for once.

      @@esar71 just got them, they're incredibly good. The combat uniforms areyears ahead of our old uniforms. Do I don't really like the shirt we wear in our base when we are not on the field. Here's to Crye Precision! a NYC home grown business. In Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Navy Yard sat unused and abandoned for decades until there was an initiative to transform the space in to a place for innovative startup companies to operate. Crye is one of many companies in the Navy Yard doing great work (not many companies there deal with military / pseudo military products, and recently, a lot of companies there re tooled their machines to produce face masks and other PPE)

    "Fuzzys" are the fabrics response to the fact that cotton and polyester don't bind. So over time when heat is applied through washing some of that polyester loses its tensile strength and the bonds between seams break. This causes the polyester to bind up into balls and get caught within the Fabric.

I can post a link to a great wool washing video if your not sure but essentially it's very specific sports apparel detergents as well as doing a soak and hand wash vs just beating them up in the wash .. or just buy new ones every couple years but I tend to just dislike the fuzzy balls so I hand wash mine but it's probably overkill who knows lol

    How are your G4s holding up? I want to try a pair but pilling and other problems has left me reluctant to part with the coin when G3s serve me so well. BUT, G3s are uncomfortable in hot summer weather (it is both hot and humid where I live).

    The buttons are easy to repair when your on a mission I love buttons but that’s my opinion bc it’s quieter and Velcro gets dirt or wet or anything could stop working and that button will always work when your on recon mission or any mission but good video I also love the uf pro and for cheaper end I love the Propper brand of combat clothing or so very good at a cheap price

    Fellow asshole here!
    Can confirm all Jake says about the Crye Gen 4 Combats Pants, very much soft sweat pant feeling in them. Much better thought-through than any issued pants I've had during my 10 years in service. Mobility-wise they are fenomenal and durable. The 2 cons I have with them are:
    1. Just as Jake says, they accumulate a lot of the "fuzzies" very quickly. Hopefully the material loss doesn't affect the structural integrity of the pants aswell.
    2. The asspockets are velcro-closed instead of zippers or buttons and they don't keep closed. i'm size 35" and my gen 4's are 38" so it's not an ass problem, the thin velcro strips are just not good enough to handle people sitting down. Gonna install zippers myself on 'em.
    Peace!

  • @martinnichols45
    @martinnichols45 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    G3's are more durable , less comfortable than the G4's , they are hot during summer time but i prefer them over the G4's . G4's are skinnier and i prefer velcros over zippers . The one on my back pocket broke so i have to keep it open now although the velcros on the side pockets ate not strong enough, you could easily lose materials if you're rolling around on the ground.

    I will say if you’re reading this and are interested in getting these, don’t wash them as much. Crye’s don’t need to unless they are completely muddy and look awful, even then just spot clean them. You won’t have piling in this case, but also I noticed that the fabric just picks up random fuzzies from the carpet and it’s not just the material.

    Those fuzzies look like the material pilling... It’s not exactly the best early sign of durability, especially considering the cost and low hours you probably had on these at filming. It’s normal for regular clothes to pill from abrasion of the fibers due to certain use, its common on cheaply made clothing and from shitty materials (not saying that’s the case here just saying it’s common in those instances) it’s certainly not expected from any of the prior Crye gens I’ve used...

      I emailed Crye and asked if they would have new colors in the future for the G4’s and was told there will be solid colors, but no other camo colors. They would not specify when, she just said “in the future”

    As a fellow asshole I can recommend Claw Gear, a good gear company from Switzerland. Cheaper and really well thought out as well. Not as Gucci as Crye, maybe, but at a third of the price they're purdy dayum awesome. Dunno if they ship stateside, though.

      Sean Koester they feel really similar to snow pants or motocross pants, lol. not sure if that’s what combat pants should feel like as they are my first purchase, but that’s why I’m looking into a new pair. The combat shirt from them is awkward as well, in terms of fit. Again, not sure if this is a common design choice among combat shirts but the sleeves are obviously durable and are made of the same material as the pants, but the torso piece is practically an under armour shirt and it’s extremely form fitting, which can look really odd when the sleeves are really baggy and wide. You’ve been warned

    • @maltaconvoy
      @maltaconvoy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How do you deal with G4 pilling? Just pull them off? Cut them off? Asking because I got a G4 field shirt and it's already pilling on me after one wash.

    • @hebrewhooligan5462
      @hebrewhooligan5462 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Malta Convoy so the only way I know to get rid of it is by pulling them off. Also idk if you were in the Army but when I had that damn beret I would use this little fuzz shaver on it. I would think you could use one of those. Up to you on that I would be worried it would eat holes in it.
      I'm wondering if there is a way to prevent it from happening in the first place. I do kinda remember a type of soap that was spose to help...??? Idk for sure, but I guess Google should have something on it? Or maybe Crye has put something out about it?
      Either way congrats on a dope ass shirt. I hope to join the Crye club eventually.

    You did a great job a differentiating between G3 and G4, and between combat and field. I’d love to see a similar video on their shirts / jackets too. Best video I’ve seen on this subject.
