    James been subscribed for going on a year and your site is so informative and so easy to understand. You don’t add any hype or drama and don’t trash mouth anybody’s products. Your way of testing and explaining what you are doing is the best I have seen. Thanks for the quality of videos. I just wish I lived close enough that I could meet you. After watching this video I will be purchasing this items as my budget will allow.

    I like that reinforced USB connector. I’ve got two Braun lights and on the first one the connector broke with almost no force applied. A lot of reviews say the same thing so I’m glad to see this sort of connector being manufactured.

    Nice unit. I would be tempted to get one but I already have a decent borescope. Mine is the same 1080p but with two cameras, one on the end and a single one on the side. I can appreciate that sometimes having two side cameras will be useful. The camera "cord" is rather stiff and not easy to move around, so changing side cameras is much easier than rotating the "cord".
    Thanks for the video.

    What would be nice is for Depstech to put an orientation line all the way up the cable so that while the lens/head of the camera is inside the cylinder, you can tell the direction you are looking.

    • @jcondon1
      @jcondon1  ปีที่แล้ว +9

    • @michaelkennedy2528
      @michaelkennedy2528 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@jcondon1 yeah that does get rather difficult to handle. Something else noted on your new cam was that you have to stop recrding to switch cameras/angles. That doesn't make sense, because if you wanted to give a customer a "tour of the engine internals", you would have to stitch the videos all together in post production, which just makes it harder. Maybe they can do a firmware update and correct that issue. They would be likely to listen to you being that they reached out to you for review.

    I I purchased a Depstech camera a few years ago. It was a Bluetooth model that I thought I would use with a laptop so I had a bigger screen but my security program didn't like the software. I was going to return it but Depstech said to keep it and sent me the USB version. I liked the ability to use a larger screen. Of course cameras get better every year. I did use an old laptop that is not connected to Wifi and loaded the software for the Bluetooth model.

    I have that same wireless one and it was neat when I got it years ago, but the image resolution is terrible, just like you demonstrated. Using it became time consuming (trying to get a decent view/photo that wasn't blurry) and then frustrating. I'm glad to see that Depstech has much better cameras now with 1080P. Does it auto-focus at all? Your video seemed very clear.

    My first one was like your first one. It was OK but using on an Iphone I had to reboot the phone after using as the app locked the phone. I gave that to an Android using friend. My next was a pistol grip model with built in screen. Much better. There is also another type which I also have with an articulating camera. For those who don't know it has a dial/wheel that you turn it can bend the camera. It can bend all the way into a U shape. It also has a built in screen. The only negative on that one is the cable because it has to bend it is very floppy and not rigid like we are familiar with. I think between these two I am set to tackle most things that require a camera.

    The IPS screen makes a huge difference. I had the DS380 with triple camera but the display was just horrible with almost no viewing angle. It's like cell phones from the early 2000s.
    The IPS screen on the DS520 makes it very clear no matter what angle you're viewing the screen from.

    One thing that would be good, would be if there was 'rear view' camera in that head, so that you can backwards, behind the camera head. That way, you could push the scope down into the cylinder and look back at the cylinder head and valves.
    It's a damned fine borescope all the same - Mike "small engine mechanic" has a good borescope too. I don't think it has as many viewing angle options, but it definitely can look sideways as well as forward.

    Neat.
    I have one of their older ones that you view through an app on your phone or tablet. It looks like your old one but has a yellow tube. Its only 720p but it did what I needed it to do.
    We had a drain that stopped working and couldn’t get a snake through. Plumber said the only solution was to tear up the concrete. For me that wasn’t an option because the line runs through the center of the house and would effect every room. I taped the endoscope to a snake and was a able to see a huge chunk of wood. Using the DEPSTECH, a snake slightly modified, and some ingenuity, I was able to pull that wood out of the line that had most likely been there since the house was built in the 50’s.
    The larger and clear view of that new one sure would of been nicer though 😅

    I’m sold and the price is great for a hobbyist or even the slightly more busy person doing car repairs for family and friends.
    Snap-on used to make a dual lens bore scope and it worked pretty good for it time.
    Picture and focus were good.
    I was able to diagnose several bad head gaskets with the bore scope much faster instead of doing compression and or leak down tests.
    It helps to actually see water dripping into a cylinder to Show to the customer.
    The problem was the connector sucked and the wires inside the flexible metal cable could break if you rotated or flexed it to much.
    The replacement cost for the lens was outrageously expensive and then snap-on quit offering the lens.
    Just like them to screw people over and expect their customers to spend more on the latest bore scope with no side cameras.
    It only has single view.

    The newer model is much better than the old one. I like that it has its own screen. I don't use a so called 'smart' phone, aka tracking device, and would NEVER buy any product that requires the use of one. Within a few years, the phones will be changed to make sure you have to spend many $$$$ on a new phone (planned obsolescence), and they will make sure older products will not be compatible with them. Anything to do with a 'smart' phone is just throwing good money after bad.

    I recently had a 2000 watt Buffalo Tools generator given to me by a relative. This machine has a production date of 3/15/2005, and has never been out of the original packaging. It has never even had oil in it. A sticker on the box says to use 10W30 HD oil, but a sticker on the machine says to use 15W40. Which should I use? Given that this is a 17 year old machine that has been sitting on the floor of a garage with no oil in it, are there any extra precautions I should take beyond the normal break in procedures for a new machine? I carefully pulled on the pull cord a few times, and I felt no resistance at all. Based on what I have learned from your channel, it appears to be a Honda clone of some type.

      A borescope would really come in handy on this one. I need to purchase one.

      I usually use 10w-30. If running in a hit climate then 15w-40 is better. I would pull the spark plug out some oil down the cylinder. Fill the engine to the proper oil lever. With the plug out, rotate the engine with a drill in the flywheel nut to get the oil slashed around. Then try rubbing it.

    This is a personal pet peeve of mine…Not a fan of “sponsored” unboxing videos with kindergarten level instructions (reading the warnings and explaining what the pictures mean) to your viewers…quite insulting personally. I’ve NEVER seen (on any channel) a product review that was negative when the product was supplied free of charge to the reviewer. Not saying that is the case here…viewers just needs to understand the bias involved when a product is given to the reviewer at no cost.

      Cannot argue your points. I feel the same way when other channels do it. The old one I bought on my dime and liked it so had no issue helping them with their new product. The only negative to me is the cord length. For engine work, 4 or 5 feet would have been better. I ignore most promotion offerers I get daily because they either will get a bad review, have nothing to do with the work on the channel or do not want to run people off.
