Everyone is praising Andrew's vocals. But not many seem to notice Rob really picking up his vocal chops. Sounding better and better every year UPD: Damn, I can't let go of this "It's halloween" short song. Very well done, very original vocals. Only one problem: it's too short XD

@@BanakaiGames I was also reminded of TMBG by that song. It's quite goofy yet masterfully composed in a way that transcends the expectation to stick to a normal genre.
I can't BELIEVE he nailed so many takes with such great tone and precision, consistently. Like, if my stuff had 25% of the sheer quality of his delivery I'd be pretty proud.
As a dad, "Love To Say I Love You" left me in a blubbering mess this Wednesday morning. Thank you for that track. Phenomenal music as always, gentlemen.
It's funny - even though you only record once a year, you can definitely see how First of October is really building its voice! This is the best album yet!! Such good music and a great mix of styles, emotions, and sound. I LOVE "I Left My Pants in Chicago" - I'm a fan of some good ol' fashioned bluegrass fun!
I think this is the shortest album you guys put out but I think the fact that you were able to go back and add extra things really rounded out the album. Quality will always win over quantity
Yeah, I really love to listen back and notice how they progressed Ten Hours was 20 minutes long, only basic rock instrumentation, really just the prototype of what FoO would eventually become Gourmet Ravioli was 27 minutes, they gave themselves 2 more hours, tried to add more stuff in there, especially the first piano-led tracks and Halloween songs, but still held back by the writing process that was similar to Ten Hours (laying down instrumentals and writing lyrics at the very end) GREG was 22 minutes, most songs are less than 2 minutes long, but you can instantly hear how they're much better thought-out, as they were each created within such specific contexts during their day, there is no such thing as the disasters that were "Possible Band Names" and "We Didn't Have Time to Get Lyrics on This One". Most importantly, it left them plenty of time to perfect Never Say Goodbye, making it sound like a proper, fully finished song that your average rock band would've taken weeks or months to make. Then you get the 11th song, which... is what it is, glad they didn't attempt it again this time. Chaos is really a continuation of that, just 18 minutes, but every song is a bop you can play on repeat, the album is brimming with ideas and exotic instrumentation, and just like last time, there's an amazing closing track (but no Greg unfortunately)
The sharp transition from It's Halloween to I Left My Pants In Chicago was straight-up magical. You guys did a great job with song diversity this time around. Keep up the good work!
I was just thinking about this. I want Evelyn, when she is around 16-18 to just show up and do a foo album, that would be cool. "My dad had this project with uncle rob 14 years ago, and i thought it would be cooll to revisit it with them"
1. Rob has NO RIGHT to play small stringed instruments like that but I love it 2. More metal vocals from Andrew is a big yes 3. "Every time" 4. Glad "in your area" made a cameo
Tons of respect for your first two albums, but I felt the third one was a major step up in quality. And I think this one is even better. How you cranked out a song like "Find a way" in that short amount of time is just insane.
"Good Enough" is more than Good Enough! Best Album in a day so far. Some really soild tunes here. The improvement of Rob's vocals is impressive. "Love To Say I Love You" is such beautiful song. Could even be a hit song. Same can be said for "Find The Way". Sounds a part of a indie movie soundtrack.
Wow, I was already impressed with the previous years, but this is my favorite one so far! I don't think you always need to improve with each Song/Album/Project you put out, but this one is so consistent from song to song. Not only with the darker vibe (at least the first half of the album), but also in terms of quality. I enjoyed the songs in previous years, where it was obvious that they were created when time had almost run out, but this year I'm unable to tell which one was finished last without having watched Rob's BTS Video yet. Also, it just dawned on me that I would love to see a live performance of First of October (maybe just as an one-take video with guest musicians like Jessica Burdeaux on drums?)!
The way that you creating an emotional ballad as Rob creates a Halloween jam is becoming a tradition is my favorite. Love this one day a year band oh so much!
And somehow they legit always end up with a couple playlist worthy songs. I would legit want to see these two do an actual album. If they can produce songs this good in 12 hours, then I can only imagine what they'd do with 12 weeks :'D
This album is amazing! I love the callbacks to other songs from previous albums, such as the “in your area” being in the Spooky Time coming from Robs Mom, Lonely Angles taking inspiration from Ravioli Now, and Find the Way having similar instrumentation to First Of October. Keep up the good work guys!
I actually think Find the Way is more building up on Never Say Goodbye. Both are the anthemic power ballad they put the most work into and close the album.
the level of quality in these albums has improved so much over the last couple years it’s insane. the writing, performance, production, everything is incredible
Andrew, I remember you talking previously about how you're self-conscious about your voice (or at least used to be), so I want you to know that every song y'all have done where you use those soft falsetto vocals has made me tear up immediately (ex. Love To Say I Love You, Miracle, Don't Go), and that's hardly even with the lyrics in mind. You have an amazing voice :)
y'know what the corrupted footage DOES look cool! i thought so in rob's BTS video too and it's kind of PERFECT here! like it ended up working out perfectly to be on that song in particular. lol also although it's mostly andrew singing in this album, both of you continue to get even better AND the harmonies and layered vocals really emphasize just how well both of y'all's voices mesh together. serendipity! lol anyway i LOVE this album, great as always, and each year it gets better. with mitch hedberg references, a washboard, a harpsichord, lots of yelling, a devastatingly gorgeous song abt your daughter, and a fucking kickass anthem--AND halloween vibes! this album has it ALL in 20 minutes or less! lol congrats on another fantastic album!
Not only is "It's Halloween" their heaviest song, but probably one of my favorites. We don't get a chance very often to see Rob add his crazy metal chops into these albums, and I'm glad that this album is chaotic and heavy. Both of you guys really outdid yourselves on this album. This is definitely my favorite album so far, but I say that every year XD
Find The Way hits me in that special place where all of the memories of adventures with my friends and band mates in the past live. Thanks for another special album! Here's to making more musical memories ☺️
Geez, this was the best one yet. Every single track holds up to repeat listens. Also, the solos on this album are some of the best guitar work I’ve heard all year, truly.

Love To Say I Love You really got me and I was not expecting that! As a newer dad moments like that are still pretty fresh in memory. It was really incredible to see the difference in the fun 'random' songs compared to one that was inspired by a personal moment; very raw and special to have captured here. Also, it could be a chart topper; great work!
I think this is THE best First of October album. Right from the start all the way to the end, absolutely no holes. Maybe some fumbled lyrics but there’s no filler songs. I thought last years album was great, but this takes it to a whole other level. My favorite is Find the Way, it’s such a great anthem! And it all started from a joke video idea in 2018!
You guys did such an incredible job this year. There is so much gold on this album, it might just be my new favorite. I gotta say Rob's vocals have improved loads since Ten Hours. Clearly, the interplay between you two only gets better with each year, too. Also thank you for writing another beautiful song for me to cry to Andrew. Jangly Bones is such a unique and different song. It's hard to believe it was written in such a short time.

It somewhat reminds me of Aurelio Voltaire, who coincidentally writes country halloween songs

THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING! NOT JUST FOR BEING DONE IN A DAY, BUT JUST AMAZING!
Rob is killing it on Vocals this year. Great work guys. This is great. Until next year.
The transition between Love to say I Love You and Find a Way is so good, it sounds like paired songs in a concept album
it's just amazing how every year the albums just keep getting better and better (I'm about to add every single song to my Playlist)
I feel like you guys evolved so much in songwriting and connected way more this year. All these are real bangers!
That was one of the best albums I’ve ever heard, and you guys did it in one day.
Y’all have gotta be some of the best songwriters on TH-cam.
everyday since the first I've been anxiously looking at my youtube notifications in the hope that this has been uploaded 😂 Great job guys!
Your daughter's gonna be immensely proud and amazed at these when she's older. Please never stop doing these. You guys are awesome.
ive been waiting a whole year for this!!! LOVE IT ♡
Absolutely beautiful, I look forward to this every year!!!
