Thanks for the reaction! Hua Hua is primarily a rocker, but he can sing in many different styles. He plays the piano and the flute. But his most amazing talent is in songwriting. This song Nunchuks was original written and sung by Jay Chou. It was straight rap with no melody whatsoever. (No English in it either.) Hua Hua spent three days rearranging it, deconstructing it and writing in the piano part, background chorus, Chinese opera....the end result is this extravaganza that is totally different from the original. Please react to his other performances in Singer 2018 and see the variety of his styles. You won’t be disappointed.

Hua Chenyu is super amazing, not just because he has that super amazing voice but also because of his dedication. I watched this episode and (not sure if he does it every performance) but-every two days, right before his performance he won’t eat anything and he’ll just be drinking water. His reason is because so that there won’t be any grease on the throat. And how he always seems to forget everything else when he’s concentrating on arranging the music of his choice and how he always try to do something unique to own the song💕

well, I have been in European culture for around 5 years. I do understand that his performance might not be that welcomed in the western world. After all his voice is a bit too feminine for a lot of people in the west. However, the middle part, that both hoster comment as cat's voice right after the end. Actually, it was the technique that the singers use usually in Chinese Opera. Maybe, it's hard for the people who have never heard of Chinese Opera to really understand why he makes a sound like a Cat. (But just as an Example, if you have never heard of Mozart's Zauberfluete and yet a male singer is singing and using the technique in Der Hoelle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen, I bet you will also think he sounds like a cat) It's just some kind of attempt for singers to mix difference technique and style.

Hi guys, nice reaction. M-Angel comment regarding judges focusing on overall performance I believe is correct. These are professional singers with careers already established, so their priority is not to win the show, although someone will. As some of them have commented (especially James Li [you should check him out]), they are competing against themselves. They are experimenting with new arrangements, singing songs in genres that they will not normally sing, taking risks just to get a point across (like Hua Hua performance in episode 10 to bring attention to the struggles of loneliness and a childhood without love), they are looking to show new things to the audience; so at this point of the competition, they focus a lot in the overall delivery and performance of the song, and the audience get to approve or disapprove on the risks taken. At the end, we all win because the performances on this show are just amazing.

I've noticed Hua Hua sings repetitively to first let the audience hear it. Then the second time through they can join in. And, then, like "Nunchucks" the audience totally participates with him for a full blast ending. In other words, entertainment for those attending. He's not a "screamer", but he does score better when he does. The audience loves it. If I remember correctly, the remaining original contestants are Jessie J, Zang (the guy with glasses), and Angela (who is also the show Emcee). As singers were voted off Hua Hua was the first replacement "contestant" at episode 4, then KZ, then Tenggre, then Henry Ho, now this new female singer since KZ and James Li were voted off. MAngel's right on the mark. Since the studio audience are the only judges here and no judging parameters are given to them, it boils down to who has entertained them the most. And good call on reacting to this, this I think is his best performance since he entered the show. The cat-sound remark is quite funny, and now can never be unheard.

But for me, i think in terms of the talent as a singer and musician both Huahua and Jessie are the best there, they have everything... Badass vocals, awesome musicality, and their undeniable stage presences. What's going to be a game changer is who's the one that can connect to the audiences more with their songs.
