Yo Dad! Congrats on finally moving in! Almost done with my new place. Had to replace bathroom floor. To fix the echo, cover your walls. Pictures, shelves ect. Also can do end tables around your furniture. Anything to keep sound from boucing off the walls.

For your echo in the house I recommend getting a bigger coffee table and maybe more decor objects on the ground to cover little more ground of the tile. I know you said you were getting more furniture so that should help it.
Furniture will definitely help lower the echo, I live is SC and we have the same floors as you do, your idea of getting a big sectional will help and more stuff on the walls. Drapes will also help to cut the echo down,you don’t have to close them just having them on the side of each window will help allot.

For example, a large mirror, canvases l, more shelves if possible, acoustic covers in some rooms. You should also put some blackout curtains on your sliding glass door, Hope this helps!!!
