    Those VW wiring plugs are always fun, you have to push on them (compresses the rubber seal inside) before you unlatch the catch bit, also If you solder those 2 wires together the brake pad warning light will go out, but you'll have to keep an eye on your pad wear yourself.

  • @honestreview1043
    @honestreview1043 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    To save loads of brake fluid running out you can take the reservoir cap off and cut a piece of polythene or plastic bag about 100mm square and place it over the reservoir then put the cap back on. That should create a seal and stop all that brake fluid loss.

  • @roberthargrave573
    @roberthargrave573 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    When bleeding brakes always bleed the farthest one away from the master cylinder as air can get trapped in the brake lines leaving you with a spongy brake pedal also advise you to put some type of brake grease on your new calipers and pads to stop brake squealing also will make it easier to dismantle when pads need replacing great video mate enjoyed watching it

  • @sonny8628
    @sonny8628 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good stuff, bit of advice on bleeding brakes. You really want to start with the caliper that's furthest away from the master cylinder and work your way to the cylinder. For example on my Polo GTI, it would be rear left, rear right, front left and then front right. About 10-15 seconds is enough for the bleeder to be open normally.

    • @chrisryan3445
      @chrisryan3445 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would agree with that normally, but the Golf MK5 has a specific bleed order which is start at nearest to master cylinder.
      Also it's well worth bleeding out the clutch - shared system with the brakes, so there is still some old fluid in there. Plus if you have VCDS/VAG-COM then go through the ABS cycle too to get the old fluid out of there.

    You bleed furthest away from the master cylinder first which is nearside rear,offside rear,nearside front then offside front.
    its dual circuit split diagonally so if you get a leak on say the offside front you still have full braking on offside rear and nearside front.

    Working hard as per usual my brother... As you said the car is coming together.
    Regarding the ABS/Brake light on the dash, just loop the broken wire(s) so it completes a circuit... this will get rid of the light (temp solution only, lol. Replace it in the long run).

  • @einfelder8262
    @einfelder8262 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What I'd like to see is the rear brakes upgraded to match the fronts. MKV GTI applies the rear pads before the fronts to prevent dive under brakes. Quite possibly ABS calibration is out of whack with the different brakes front and rear. Just short the two wires together on the wear indicator to turn the light off.

    • @irishbaz2010
      @irishbaz2010 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I thought the same, the brake balance would be off doing fronts alone. Could even be worse than standard unless the rear brakes are upgraded to balance out the front.

Hopefully you sort body and minor details out. I know it’s nearly 200k Miles but old is gold as they say. Also for the break pad grease check out Textar Cera Tec from Euro Car Parts it’s a ceramic paste. It’s much better than copper grease. Read quite a bit about it on forums. Works a charm.

    How much did that pressurized bleeder bottle kit cost you? did you get it on amazon? Also, the wires on the front brake sensor always break like that super common. If you can get on vag-com you can actually deselect the brake light warning, which also deselects the empty washer fluid warning as well. Did it on mine because I had the same issue with that sensor wire.

    Bro love the vids , try investing in a high pressure steamer for those kind of parts , after using it to clean all the gung off spray it with a metal friendly anti rust and just wipe it down

  • @zhoaibraja2992
    @zhoaibraja2992 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bro ideally you wanna bleed the brakes furthest away from the brake reservoir (so in your case back left then back right then front left then front right)

      @TRHamza  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On most cars this is the case. With the MK5 it isn’t Ive been told
