  • In case you missed it, Earlier this week parks and wildlife service were dumb enough to publicly highlight to all, its blatant double standards. An act so stupid it resulted in a public lashing, of a size not seen since the dawn of our convict beginnings.

Rob/Levi, I started following you when you went in search of Stannards grave, the time, money and effort you put in was incredible. Stannards last resting place would never have been found and with out your efforts would have been lost forever. Parks and Wildlife should be supporting you and your adventures, not persecuting you for using PUBLIC LAND.

We live in a country that loves red-tape, loves bureaucracy, loves the rule of law. As someone who's only lived here for 20 years I'm constantly amazed at the crap that everyday Australians not only put up with, but implicitly approve of. The shit you're going through is a perfect example - an absolutely meaningless set of regulations, that benefit absolutely no-one and which are enforced simply for the sake of enforcement by government officials who could be better employed doing something meaningful. Watching with interest from NSW.

As a landscape and portrait photographer, I’m with you all the way, Rob. At this point, Parks and Wildlife are looking to bury their head in the sand and hope this all goes away. They forget what power Tasmanian communities have when it comes to persuading public opinion and forcing change. I, amongst many, will write to our representatives and seek this change, but my strong advice would be to continue to try and get media exposure on this - if the noise gets loud enough, it’ll end up in the house of reps and head for bill amendments. Perhaps brace yourself for more of the ‘mud’ slinging before this sort of change occurs.

Your work has put Tassie on the map for so many people and I'm sure it will lead many to plan a trip to Tassie to discover the wilderness and history you have respectfully showcased.

Rob and Levi make Tasmania look magical and I was planning a trip from Milwaukee Wisconsin in the US but they way your bureaucrats act has made me rethink my visit because i don't want to be fined and overcharged, who knows i might even be arrested for something I might do by accident. So i am scared to come to Tasmania because of your bureaucrats and i am planning on going to Indonesia, I feel sorry for everyone living in Tasmania.

@@imchpr2000 Sadly, i feel this i exactly what it is all about. Having the one or the other photographer out in the parks has never been seen as a problem. Attracting hundreds of gold prospectors to the parks is a completely different story. P&W do everything in their power to curb the upcoming rush of prospectors to the parks. They see current legislation unfit to stop the stampede, thus, unsurprisingly, new regulations are pushed. Levi and Rob might win the battle for their land access and filming, but they will sure loose the war of keeping prospecting laws as they are.

I appreciate your ongoing strong voice on this issue. There has been a precedent set by Parks and Wildlife on limiting access and use of land that is going beyond what is reasonable for the protection of lutrawita (Tasmanian) land. The business licence and photography/videography issue is just one of them but deserves all the recognition for it's issues as it's getting and MORE. Beyond this is also the wulinantikala (Cradle Mountain) commercialisation building and additional fees you have talked about on your channel previously, the limitations placed on palawa people to conduct cultural burns/land management/hunting and gathering practices, the attempts to limit off track roaming but excessive infrastructure on others just to name a few. Common sense is not common to those at Parks and Wildlife but money and power talks

The Qld gov and pws should b shaking in their boots too with their overarching and destructive practices. At Mossman Gorge in FNQ the pws cleared a massive area and built a massive information centre and car park amd now you have to pay an exorbitant fee to get on a crappy shuttle bus and be driven up to a place where you used to be able to drive. When you first started posting about this, I watched and was thinking, "Well, maybe they have a good reason for restricting access..."
But then I found out that the licensing rules were created in the Stone Age...well at least when it comes to the web, social media, and amateur content creators. Tas Parks need to drag themselves into the 21st century and move with the times. Back in the day when these rules were drafted, it would generally take a film crew of half a dozen, as well as kilos upon kilos of equipment to film anywhere remote. Base camps, generators, etc etc. A lot of potential environmental damage if it was open slather for filmmakers.
Today, the same can be done with one person, such as you, with a few small cameras, some batteries, and a pack, leading to far less intrusiveness on the environment you are documenting.

Unfortunately the Master at the wheel of the Ship has let the "Crew" run rampart. Not a good standing for the "Master". So much so that when I watch your shows I follow along on google maps so I can actually see where you are and the area you are travelling. This has given me a better knowledge of the river systems, lakes and button grass plains etc. National Parks couldn’t run a billy cart race let alone fairly manage access to a wilderness area as you have shown. Parks and Wildlife in Tasmania are an absolute joke, taking 2 years to issue permits etc. Etc,. Is it the management ? Yes I believe that's the case as I personally know many officers who are reasonable people. It needs a massive overhaul.

Absolutely unbelievable that any agency should even consider charging a fee for filming or photographing nature, commercial or not, so long as no damage is done by big production crews etc. Outrageous!

Good on ya Rob. I'm a Tassie boy now living in Perth and miss the Tassie bush. I grew up on King Island with the few pockets of rainforest left there as my playground. I would give anything to go for a walk through the bush there again. Your content puts me back in the bush right next to you mate. It's bloody fantastic. And I can also tell you how appreciative I am that you do show respect for where you are. You are the guy that is showing off Tassies' raw beauty to the world and the adventures that are just sitting there waiting to be had. Keep fighting the good fight mate. Cheers Heathro

Let them play victim, they'll give your more ammunition for your case than you can process.
Keep it up Rob, take care to state the facts of the case, so they can't get an attack in edge ways.

Get a solicitor and sue them for all financial losses past, present and in the future.
You already have enough evidence and summons others who have been supported by npws and not discriminated against by them.
The only way is bringing it to court.

Hi Rob, I wonder if the document you showed that TPWS has signed as 7 Dec 2022 would then negate some of the infringements they issued you had they occurred in the last 12 months. Their backdating of the document would mean you're allowed to work by the guidelines set in the TandC's, counteracting their targeting of you

    Rob and levi, my dudes
U must realise your winning the fight here, u have sense and reason on your side and overwhelming public support, parks cant continue to lambaste you whilst showing complete contempt for what they are trying to over regulate you on .the hypocrisy is unbelievable. I think a public rally in you guys support is in order. I know it would be huge.

Absolutely NP & W should be pinning medals on you guys, all you are doing is promoting the parts of Tasmania the corporates don't want to know about. The Spirit of Tasmania has zero pamphlets about NW Coast & West coast of Tassy, it's all controlled by major hotel chains. I love your work, keep it up. Brent x Smithton

Every now and then I get reminded of how well we have it over here in the USA with our State and National Park Services. Realizing of course, there may be the odd hiccup along the way...I’ve never heard of such blatant discrimination occurring in the way it has happened for you and Levi. This makes my heart sick...I found Levi’s channel first and was led to your channel which added a whole new dimension to my fascination with Tasmania...a country I’d not known anything about other than a cartoon character from my childhood days...the Tasmanian Devil on Looney Toons...ironic being that the Tasmanian Parks Services seems to be the ones that are “Looney Toons”! Keep up the fight and your quest for continued content...I’m sure Parks Services would just throw anything I wrote to them in the trash as I’m an American and my voice won’t be heard as I’m not a Resident of Tasmania...but their actions have no doubt cost them thousands in tourism dollars as I was wanting to travel down under thanks solely to what I saw on your channel and Levi’s as well. ‘Money talks” ...I’m sure there are hundreds like me who will no longer wish to travel to that part of the world where a governmental entity so blatantly discriminates two hugely talented citizen ambassadors who bring Tasmania and all its beauty into our homes with just a click. Sending love and determination to you and Levi.💪🏼👍🏼🙌🏼❤️

Thank you Rob and Levi. We need to stand united in this. I called PWS last week and they didn't know how to answer my questions and gave me an email address on compliance. I'm a landscape nature photographer based in Deloraine Tasmania and share content to promote our beautiful Wild Island State. They should be thanking us as they do in NZ for free publicity. Instead they want more $$$$. We pay far too much already in this country. Taxed on everything sometimes triple taxed. Enough. Blaze a Trail Boyz.. We have your back 🙏 @joykachinaphotography
