Thank you. Your tutorials are more useful to me than many other tutorials including the official reallusion ones. Clearly explained and straight to the point.
RL documentation spanks most other programs these days, but what it is missing is a cookbook. Such a thing can only be provided by an experienced user. That's where Mike Kelly comes in. Thanks, Mike.
You’re the first guy Im ringing the sub bell for. The only person worthy of notifying me when a video is uploaded. And I’ve got HUNDREDS of subscriptions.
Hi there Mike - A question regarding characters um..... crotch area and why the underware or bikini / panties never work with the transfer - the skin weights don't work and the side always stretches with the upper legs a bit - even on the CC3 clothing that comes with CC3 - I want to try upgrade to CC4 SOON! it looks awesome!
You can fix this by editing the weights of the underwear but you are always going to be compromising some degree of fit because the upper thigh twist (which causes this) also contributes to the crotch itself bulging, so it will have to be a balancing act. In a few minutes I was able to get a fairly good compromise but it really depends on the look you are going for, which is why a tutorial wouldn't help (because I am not sure exactly what you are having trouble with).
I’ve tried several different hair types from Daz in cc3 but none of them look as good or close to the cc3 hair. What type of hair should I look for in Daz that will have the same look or similar look to the character creator hair? Thanks for the great tutorial. Cheers
About half of the Daz hair works fine in CC3, some even better than what you can get from RL. But it's hard to generalize on what will work and what won't. I can tell you some guidelines, but if there is ANY hair you have a question about just ask and I'll let you know or even show you. 1) No dForce hair. 2) No fibermesh hair 3) poly hair only but don't bother with buying further textures for it since you'll be using the CC3 hair shader. But, again, ask me before buying.
@@AdamSmith-pn5hk That should work but I don't have the time right now to make sure. It's not fibermesh and it's not dForce so overall I don't see any issues.
@@MikeDKelley One more quick question in regards to hair being replaced in cc3. Is it possible to keep a section of hair without the hair being replaced if I choose something to add instead of replace? I’ve ran into this issue when trying to apply a beard. When I apply the beard, the hair that I have created is replaced or removed. I am trying to keep both but I can’t figure it out. I watched a tutorial awhile back but I forget how it was done. Thanks again for all the help. Cheers
@@AdamSmith-pn5hk How you do it depends on whether it's the new hair system or the old one. In the old one you take whatever the hair is (beard, hair, mustache) and go to Modify/Change to accessory. Then you add whatever other hair you want and turn IT into an accessory. Then do a Merge Accessory with both selected and finally reweight them as hair again. Under the new system it's a similar process but there is now variants so you can have beard, mustache, beard accessories, sideburns. hair base, hair sides, etc. etc. So you categorize it as to what you want but you can still combine two of the same type in the above manner.
@@MikeDKelley from the cc3 doc it seems like the hidden mesh of the body is done by using a opacity mask. i would like to get that and use it in unreal engine for the same purpose. i know you can delete the hidden mesh when exporting but i use cloth as an equippable items. thanks for the reply!

Mike I got : Failed to load character. no suitable setup profile found. click "More" to check the compatibility list " Im trying to imoprt a Gen 8 character -- any suggestions
With clothing? Most of the time this error means the clothing or item has hidden part of the mesh. It's solvable by simply importing another exact figure (so another Gen 8 into the scene) and then when importing just don't import the first one (I even have a tutorial about this you can look for but it's as easy as I just said).
Hi ....If you know how to add the genesis 8 eyes brows to a character in CC3 i will be happy to know ....Because no one talk about that...I know CC3 + have a new plugin with hair ,beard and eyes brow ,but r other characters in daz studio with a original character brow witch we may like to use
I spent 3 days trying to import an obj exported from daz, to add it as clothing so all my CC3 figures can use it, and here you do the whole thing effortless, by just importing the whole figure with the clothing on :) I assumed that if you save the figure with the clothing, when you load it on a different avatar in CC3, it will replace the avatar with the character you imported with the clothing, but it seems that I was totally wrong. Thanks for the great tutorial! BTW I assume this works only for Genesis clothing and hair, since the clothing made for M4 or V4 for example will have to be added via obj, because transformer does support only genesis figures.
Transformer supports M4 and V4, as well as Hivewire (and any Genesis of course). You have two choices when you load in a complete figure saved with an outfit -- you can load the avatar (with the clothing) or you have a "replace clothing" option that will just load the outfit on top of whatever avatar you have loaded. This is how I recommend you save most outfits, since it's then easy to swap out outfits onto a figure (note that this will NOT work with hair -- hair is the only thing that can't be either swapped or saved in this fashion. If you want to save an avatar with hair and clothing, you need to save as a project). Oh, and I should note they have changed it so you ALWAYS want to use advanced (this tutorial is now wrong. Sigh).
@@MikeDKelley I tried it last night, and even with the latest version, it seems to be working. Exported from DAZ a full figure with clothing and hair, imported it in CC3 via Transformer and then decimated the clothing. Once the poly count was low enough I did save it as custom clothing and same goes for the hair, and was able to save both in their respective category. I am blown away by the fact that the clothing fits for 99% of the cases! The only area that is problematic is the gloves, which I assume depends from the T pose (the fingers are not straight in CC3 pose for some reason and poke out but I just hide the hands of the CC3 figure). This workflow takes me 20 minutes versus 4 hours for each clothing item, so it is really a game changer to me. I did use advanced most of the time, since I am getting the PBR textures from the DAZ clothing, so I didn't even try with the standard profile when importing.
