I followed this video and upgraded my 2014 Focus to Sync 3 and added a backup camera. Make sure you get all the parts he recommends on his website before you start. This is pretty solid and goes through everything you need to do step by step. Everything went smoothly.

@@viction7236 price outweighed the desire to do it. Ford thankfully fixed my sync issues under a RAV warranty so everything works fine with my stock system. If or when it breaks now that it’s out of warranty I would reconsider buying.

I've a 2016 Focus SE but it's different than both of these .It doesn't have navigator and I had it two weeks . Does have synch system abs and a few other goodies that I'm sooo happy . My old 06 Sentra was very bare / poor in a lot of areas compared to this new one . Verrry glad I got it . This one has Bluetooth , ABS , rear camera . tire pressure monitoring DAAANNNGGG .

Why never a Focus? . I've recently got one and it's a salvage title. 06 focus SE 2.0 L . Runs and looks fantastic though. Got it for maybe less than half of blue book dealer price. Three weeks now. Yeah found some minor things I had to fix. But otherwise seems like a phenomenal deal. Yeah I thought it was maybe technology design that made engine / powertrain so much more powerful than old car 06 Sentra.

it’s 670$ for the components then an additional 250$ for the wiring harness. So almost 1k for this upgrade. I do admire the craftsmanship and the knowledge that was needed to make this happen but for almost a thousand dollars it’s a bit of a stretch. For the price it’s a hard sale. Seeing that these cars go for less than 8k in 2021 if their auto transmission haven’t gone out yet I don’t think it’s worth it.
For sure - and if we're being honest I actually recommend people not to buy the hardware from me. Many people get away with spending $450-650 on their entire upgrade by picking parts themselves out of a junkyard. I've got another video with the full rundown of what to pull and from what cars to help make it easier for everyone. I do agree with your sentiment on the Auto transmission however. Complete trash. Most of my customers are ST and Zetec owners with manual transmissions.

@@Xfilesde your HVAC will still work you just won't have control of it from your screen. I can add in an extra connector to make the function work (I'll have these as add-ons in next month). The only reason I don't add these to my harnesses is that they're pretty costly to add because the connectors are custom (adding 20% to the manufacturing cost per harness). It didn't seem worth it to add since in the US all Focuses with 4" Sync don't have auto HVAC
@@Mhaona1all Focus's "have" SYNC.... They just don't all have the same sync Yes this harness will work for the "non sync"😉 cars.... They have the exact same wiring as all the no touch screens... HOWEVER, you might need the ACM and might need to "activate" bluetooth in a separate step. It will absolutely work but it might not be EXACTLY the same as this video. (Converting to the sync like in the video was a plug and play affair so obviously with that being the case, this would also be true...
I have a 2014st3 with sync 2 touchscreen and the dual USB center hub, when I pull the hub up it doesn't come all the way out. How do I remove this center hub?
Most of the times when something involves a laptop and multiple steps/uploads, at some point you will get an error that nobody knows how to solve and you end up with a bricked car just because you wanted a new navi ...
"bricked" That's a dealer service term... Because dealer techs are nothing more than parts installers! You could go ham in it and then just go online and download YOUR vehicles asbuilt and back to square one! You're right though, there's people out there that can't follow this very clear step by step no doubt! Some people you can write it out in crayon for them and they will still stare at you like a deer in headlights! That's because the lights are on and nobodies home!) sigh....... How did those people make it this far? 😂
I've got a 2016 Ford transit connect xle with what appears to be the same system. The only thing I can see different is the okay button. Is there a kit or something to swap it out? I hate it. The back up cam doesn't even work most the time

I just got one and I want to know what steps I should take to make sure it connects to my sync 3 system (I installed the same new system you installed in this video, I love this upgrade thank you! The wire harness with programming files was well worth the cost.)
Mainly for the bad trans issues but for the most part it's the same process just use the trim tool to pop off the shift boot and lift the whole trim piece up and around it

I was there at dealer for a recall issue and he told me that transmission had a " known issue". Still barely under warranty for now.. That dealer scheduled me to get it fixed but last minute he canceled.. He said that of the two techs one was on vacation the other called in. Oh well

One question though: I don’t have the parking sensor image or the green/yellow/red lines when I put it into reverse anymore. I still get the beeps, but I don’t get the “Park Pilot” image that I used to have in sync 1. Any suggestions?

If you aren't able to follow along with this video, I'm sure he could help you via FaceTime and remote desktop. Not to take away from him (kinda) but find a Ford enthusiast group in your state (they ALL have them, there might even be a dedicated Focus group even!) and put up a post offering to pay someone to install this guy's kit. Also there would be no need to put him up in hotel, the job can be done in a couple hours max.....(I'm sure he can do it in a half hour or better! 😂 Well that's if he just fishes the USB hub wiring by now)

Could this be done to a 2013 escape se, with the 4 inch sync. ? What parts do i need for sync 3 from a donor vehicle ? Would you be able to provide a harness and programming help ?
So the swing latch is a gray latching connector. There's a small push tab on the top of this connector that prevents the swinging latch from becoming unseated. Push down on this tab and rotste the latch. It will rotate and the connector will come out of the module.
Or you could… like… just get a pioneer or other good apple carplay / android head unit, get a 2-din cover replacement kit with necessary cables plug and play cables for proper conversion and maybe also buy a reverse camera to go with that, plug it in quickly and you’re done. Maybe also upgrade the speakers with a focal ford kit or something. This seems to be a lot of trouble for no obvious reason. A brand new apple carplay system just seems superior and you can still keep all controls. Oh well. It’s cool that you managed to fix it so nicely, I just believe that almost everyone is better off just getting a plug and play kit for 1 or 2-din head units and getting whatever model they fancy of head unit. There are even super cheap stuff that is just the screen and panel in one, though those tend to be unreliable, it’s a better experience to get something proper.
I have a question, my Ford Escape 2013 ACM is not working. I decided to do the conversion to sync 3 but 1. is it going to not work i i don’t replace the acm? 2. Does the focus acm work on my escape?
Not always true. As long as there's no metal or other dense materials between the gps antenna and sky it will work fine. We've set up over 300 cars like this with no issues whatsoever.

This is only for 12-14 (or 15.... Certainly not 16) so yes yours is different, he also makes a kit for those as well.

Sorry been having technical issues -- the harness will work with this setup, however auto HVAC control on the screen will not work with my harness 😢

One question though: I don’t have the parking sensor image or the green/yellow/red lines when I put it into reverse anymore. I still get the beeps, but I don’t get the “Park Pilot” image that I used to have in sync 1. Any suggestions?

Not to take away from him (kinda) but find a Ford enthusiast group in your state (they ALL have them, there might even be a dedicated Focus group even!) and put up a post offering to pay someone to install this guy's kit.
Also there would be no need to put him up in hotel, the job can be done in a couple hours max.....(I'm sure he can do it in a half hour or better! 😂 Well that's if he just fishes the USB hub wiring by now)

Could this be done to a 2013 escape se, with the 4 inch sync. ? What parts do i need for sync 3 from a donor vehicle ? Would you be able to provide a harness and programming help ?
The swing latch part lost focus and I didn’t quite see what you meant by it “should swing down and you should pull it right out.”
So the swing latch is a gray latching connector. There's a small push tab on the top of this connector that prevents the swinging latch from becoming unseated. Push down on this tab and rotste the latch. It will rotate and the connector will come out of the module.

Or you could… like… just get a pioneer or other good apple carplay / android head unit, get a 2-din cover replacement kit with necessary cables plug and play cables for proper conversion and maybe also buy a reverse camera to go with that, plug it in quickly and you’re done. Maybe also upgrade the speakers with a focal ford kit or something.
This seems to be a lot of trouble for no obvious reason. A brand new apple carplay system just seems superior and you can still keep all controls.
Oh well. It’s cool that you managed to fix it so nicely, I just believe that almost everyone is better off just getting a plug and play kit for 1 or 2-din head units and getting whatever model they fancy of head unit. There are even super cheap stuff that is just the screen and panel in one, though those tend to be unreliable, it’s a better experience to get something proper.

I have a question, my Ford Escape 2013 ACM is not working. I decided to do the conversion to sync 3 but
1. is it going to not work i i don’t replace the acm?
2. Does the focus acm work on my escape?
GPS antennas are installed on the glass, so the navigator will work accurately and quickly.
Not always true. As long as there's no metal or other dense materials between the gps antenna and sky it will work fine. We've set up over 300 cars like this with no issues whatsoever.
Do you have a tutorial on how to install a back up cam on this car?

NaviUpgrade Haven’t heard anything yet! 🤷🏼♀️ Hopefully I hear back soon, just dropped her off at the dealer so they can check that one Trans control module recall since she’s an auto. This’ll be a great excuse to manual swap it though if the trans is trashed haha
