What a great piece of history, the very last one of her kind in the world. Many thanks to the state of Texas for saving her.
To all the hardworking volunteers of the Texas Battleship Foundation, thank you! Y'all have truly outdone yourselves, the restoration looks absolutely fantastic! While so many in our nation are trying to sweep away our history you have stepped up to preserve it for generations to come! Just another one of many reasons why I'm proud to call myself a Texan. God bless and Come on Texas! 🇺🇲⚓⚓
Spectacular restoration. Be proud Texas
Rest easy, Old Warrior. Rest easy.
She looks beautiful 😊
GODSPEED! our past is the foundation of our present!.. AND what a glorious past it was!
The music is magnificent.
Beautiful pictures from your quad. I enjoy every update you post. Thanks for your dedication to record this restoration of our beloved Battleship Texas. 👍👍
Thank you
She is really looking great
Eagerly await her move and let's us on board again
Your filming is always awesome.👍🤠
Would love to see Texas make the journey to Normandy again.
Great update!! Many thanks!!!
She looks better and better with each visit. Thank you for this update. Stay safe.
She’s going to be a new Dreadnought and she looks beautiful. I remember going her for the first time back 1975, I was 5 years old, between the Texas and the San Jacinto Monument I was in complete awe and could not have been prouder to be a Texan, still am at 53. Thanks and keep up the great work, she’s beautiful!
She is a marvelous piece of machinery and a remembrance of a bygone era.
A few years ago I played World of Warships and got USS Texas to play. I did not know very much about the ship at the time and was really surprised that it was so blue. That game is *very* accurate with color schemes of historical ships and sure enough I see this vid and there is the blue just like in the game. Cool to see history come to life.
Tienen que darles la gloria que se merecen a esas majestuosas naves ❤
Glad my home state is keeping up good old USS Texas.
Can't wait to be on her.
That was amazing about the US, we are here in Vietnam and many other countries still can not built such big ship nowaday!
Thanks for the update!
Looking sharp!
Ive been looking forward to an update. I think ive said previously that i made a small donation and I have a piece of her Hull and a couple of coffee mugs. Ive read a lot about her service, the build and her struggles in retirement. Even tho Im Australian my grandkids are texan. How she manged to survive is a credit to her captains and all whonsailed in her.
Looking forward to the next progress footage
She is looking fantastic! Thank you for sharing! 🇺🇸
Fantastic shots 🤩
Amazing Work!
She looks beautiful!

Wow!
Thanks as always for sharing
♥
She's looking beautiful 🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏
god damn that Measure 21 paint scheme looks fantastic
Wow. Wow. Wow. Looking great!
Beautiful!! ❤🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱
Very nice well done looking forward to being back on the deck again
Hope you went to the Texas outlaw challenge and filmed this weekend I got some footage but wasn’t very good was hoping to see some of yours!
I didn’t film it this year, had too much going on
She give you an idea what the battleships of Pearl harbour looked like. So many picture them as grey, like post war battleships, when in truth many of them were the same blue as the Texas. I look forward to seeing her with her decking all fixed up. Should look sharp with the fresh blue.
The all-blue paint as seen here was a wartime scheme. In 1941 most battleships were in the Measure 1 dark grey scheme (though Texas was not)
So different seeing a battleship that is not battleship gray!
After seeing the restoration and home port return of BB 62, I can't wait to see the finished project and return of BB 35. God bless Texas!
Need a few of these off the coast of Yemen.
The command ship for D day
Can you do a fly over of International ship breaking in Brownsville? Kitty Hawk may be gone by now.
Does anyone know what camouflage measure (pattern/color) is being applied? She definitely is looking a lighter shade of very big and blue...
Been watching your coverage since the foundation website / channel are not putting information out. Do you if it is possible to get close enough for car or on foot to get a decent look? The kids and I used to go all the time before they moved her. Missing her ever since.
You can view it from pier 21 in Galveston but no where on pelican island side to get close
Will a wooden deck be reinstalled or newly installed on the bare metal deck?
Yes wood will be installed on top of
@@ThirdCoastDrone So much has been invested in restoring the Texas that I cannot imagine wood decking not being replaced too. So, my questions are whether real or synthetic wood will be used since synthetic wood might be a more durable, less maintenance intensive, option. Also, if selected, would real wood decking be painted in authentic (US Navy paint code "20-B") Deck Blue paint?...or would it be left in its natural lighter, and therefore cooler, shade for being exposed in the hot Texas sun?
@@tim_davidson6344 bsf website says real wood
Battelship?
Are they gonna remove the boxes on her sides
What are the square objects on her side?
wow! I hope they get rid of all the gun pods clogging up the deck. They were ww2 additions. Removing those would make walking all around the ship much easier.
While they do contribute to deck "clogging", I prefer that the ship look as historically accurate as possible during her WWII years of service. Also, kids are going to want to sit in the 40mm gunners' seats. I was wondering if replica 20mm and 40mm guns could be manufactured and installed at a "reasonable" cost for even more realism.
Texas ( Nueva Filipinas)
Can anyone confirm the paint color? It seems reasonable to believe it's Navy Blue 5-N to represent the MS21 camo she ended the war in. It seems deeper, more saturated then what I'd expect MS21 to appear. I wonder how closely the paint color was matched. Like USS North Carolina, where they took some liberties changing Dull Black to a dark blue for appearance purposes.
Their Facebook has confirmed its navy blue, horizontal surfaces will be deck blue eventually. The Texas crew's goal is to make her look as much like her late 1945 appearance as possible at the end of the war.
Yes, I noticed that the North Carolina was incorrectly painted in camouflage Measure (MS) 33 instead of the correct MS 32. The most obvious difference between the two measures is that MS 33 used Navy Blue instead of MS 32's Dull Black. It's hard to say if the Navy Blue paint being used on Texas has been formulated correctly based only on observation. The Texas paint is new and the North Carolina's may have faded somewhat with age. Also, lighting (time of day, shadowing, weather conditions, etc.) can affect the paint's appearance.
Does the city know yet where the final resting spot is gonna be?
Dread naught - fear none.
The SS United States should dry dock here next 😬👏
You mean Brownsville Texas for the scrapper.
@@kman-mi7su I mean, if it has to be scrapped then yes. I love seeing ships, homes and cars restored. It’s another historic ship that has history. Whatever happens ,happens
Will all of its AA guns would return to Texas after the repair
Yes
Not “really” Ms21… but I’ll let it slide this time. 🙃
The difference seems to be that the current paint is glossy while true WW2-era Measure 21 was matte. Glossy finishes hold up to the elements much better and are far easier to clean. Same reason why most restored WW2 aircraft have glossy finishes as well.
I hope they didn't use concrete on the deck again based upon all the problems they had with it in the past.
No, I think they and all the rest of the Museum Ship organizations have learned a critical lesson, a number of them actually because of the experiences with Battleship Texas.
They're installing a pressure-treated pine deck, per their Instagram page.
All that work and apparently the engines were off limits, so it has to be towed still. What a freaking waste of time!
They cut the propellers off when it was first retired unfortunately.
None of the museum Battleships can run their engines, either due to Navy contract or simply age and time.
I suggest you review what it would take to initiate such a process and maintain it and I ditto what VKiera states. Did you think they were going to take you for a ride or something?
