    Thank you, I was wondering how to do this on my fx991 for days. This will be useful when we are using bisection, secant method or even a illinois method (modded false position), because we need to calculate the f(x) values in each iteration to decide the new interval comparing their f(x) values...
    But, for newton raphson you can use the "ANS" button trick... I think it is faster than doing like you did.
    Here's the trick:
    First, you save your X0 on ASN (just insert X0 on calc and press equal sign)
    Then you insert the newton expression using ANS in the X0 place...
    ANS - f(ANS)/f'(ANS)
    e.g.:
    f(x) = x² + 2
    Newton expression to put in calc:
    ANS = 0 (first value)
    Then insert
    ANS - (ANS² + 2)/(2ANS)
    Then just press equal sign how many times you want... You can use this ANS trick also in the "false position method" when you find out which of the terms in the interval is fixed... and also in the "fixed point method"

    Hi Sujoy. There is another method to achieve roots of equation:
    [MODE] > [5: EQN] > [3] (for quadratic equation)
    Input
    a: 1, b: 2, c: -2
    a represents the coefficient for X^2
    b represents the coefficient for X
    it will give you:
    X1: 0.7320508076
    X2: -2.732050808
    Try it. :D

    At 3:25, why did you take the initial value as 0?? i am confused, plzz help

      Since the root lies between 0 and 1 he took the initial value as 0. He could have taken 1 as well, but taking 0 simplifies the calculation part.

    In place of "X" if you keep "Ans" and keep pressing "=" it becomes even simpler...

      -100000(1+i)^0 +80000(1+i)^-1 +50000(1+i)^-2 +20000(1+i)^-3 +10000(1+i)^-4 + 10000(1+i)^-5

    Is it possible to store formula like (cos C + cos D) in 991-ES

      I've already answered this question many times. Answer is no. Unfortunately you can't store any "formula" in this calculator. But you can store values/numbers in calculator variables(there are total 10 variables). And in STAT mode,you can store 100s of numbers organised in tables! So,you can carry your own numerical database in this calculator :-)

    Brother, Sujoy thank you so much. You saved my time and also exam fear gone. But I found my book Newton Raphson Method in "Radian Mode." If Your video quality is HD it much helpful to see the mode in your calculator. If you kindly said this before to which mode should we do for easiest way, it may help us more. Thanks again.
