Wagner - Vorspiel & Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde arranged for string quartet & accordion

- In 1880, Emmanuel Chabrier went to hear Wagner's Tristan und Isolde in Munich - an occasion when after a certain amount of gasping and snuffling, Chabrier burst out with ‘Ten years of my life I’ve been waiting to hear that [opening] A on the cellos!’
In order to become sensitive to the specific eccentricities of the composers whose works we usually study and perform, we try to also get acquainted with other music, which represents something opposite to them.
The polemic between Richard Wagner on the one hand, and Brahms and many French composers on the other triggered our interest for the big genre of the 19th century of which string quartets usually steer clear: Wagner's romantic operas. We asked composer Max Knigge to re-imagine the opening and closing sequences of Richard Wagner's radical opera Tristan & Isolde. We are happy that accordionist Vincent van Amsterdam could join us for this project. With the addition of his instrument, our color palette instantly gained a complete wind section!

Simply wonderful!! More Wagner for String Quartet please...
Thanks and who knows...!
Extremely beautifull to watch and listen to. Thank you!
Absolute fantastic! So beautiful, one of the greatest composition ever written..🙏🙏👏👏💐💐
Die accordeon past wonderwel bij de klankbalansen van het strijkkwartet: verrassend en geslaagd. Weer een vooroordeel geslecht.
Music and intentions .... wonderfully understood! Bravo. And an harmonium ... crazy, but fits absolutely perfect! And now the highlight: Wagner, and even more: Tristan and Isolde. 100 * 100 points!
Danke! Wunderbar gespielt. Richard Wagner pur! Einfach herrlich!
Vielen dank!
Astonishing
UNBELIEVABLE! BRAVO!!!!

Bravo!
Thanks!
Prachtig, meeslepend en toch helder met de zeer mooie mengklank van de accordeon, bravo Vincent, wederom een Dudok monument erbij....
Amazing! Bravo! Thank you!
Glad you appreciate it!
C'est magnifique !
Merci!
Bravo j'adore cette version, très bons instrumentistes, très bonne adaptation, et, bien sûr, très belle partition ! A quand un Adieu à Brunnhilde de la fin de la Walkyrie ? Ou un prélude de Lohengrin ?
Thanks! We can't tell when we might add more of Wagner's scores to our repertoire, but we certainly will continue be releasing more orchestral adaptations in the future...
This is impossible, but 5 instruments playing with inspiration successfully replace an entire Wagnerian orchestra!...
太不可思议了😂
I thank Richard Wagner.
We will pass it on to him!
Wunderbar!!! Wann präsentiert ihr euch gerne in Venedig? Gebt uns mal Bescheid.
Kippenvel! 1:30
