    Thank you, good positive and informative test. I need a 2 amp output for my Samsung note, but for backpacking long trips it may be worth just getting a cheap mp3 for those bad weather days, or zero hiking days.

      Thanks for your comment Brett! I will most likely be using this one on the JMT this August

    This is my number one pick right now. Is there any other one that's better?

    I have one... i'm on the East Coast... I never got it recharged over the 50% marker... and most of the time never over the 10% marker.
    With this said... I don't think it's good for east coast backpacking because of all the green tunnels... I could see this product be useful out west... like the mountains and desert.

    HELLO, What is the power of this solar panel? for example 15 watts, 20 watts. I'm not talking about the power bank. best regards

    nice! 4.5 ounces? not bad at all..my goal zero is like 12 ounces.. almost too heavy to really use for backpacking..although i have..this might be a better alternative

      +matanuska high I have a Goal Zero also and they are both great but this one is significantly lighter

      Both products are good. Where the Goal Zero scores well, in my opinion is that the Nomad 7, 13, & 20 all have 12 Volt outputs. This is critical for me, because I do Search & Rescue & disaster Response. This little panel though, for its intended use, should serve people extremely well. I think a good companion to this panel would be the little Goal Zero Mini-usb light at 250 Lumens, which is more than enough to light up the inside of a Tent, and will provide a coupe of evening of light on one charge at 3.2 Amps. Looks like a decent product to me.

    2 amps would be better, but that's not meant as a slam. Still well worth having one.

    • @TrailAndMountain
      @TrailAndMountain  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed but it still works perfectly and weighs next to nothing

    You didn't explain why you can't charge you device and internal battery at the same time. This is very inconvenient, charging both at the same means that when you stop, you device is ready to use. Instead of waiting hours for the internal charger to charge it.

      I'm guessing a solar panel that size can't produce enough juice to do both, and its never good to leave a lion battery discharged

    • @fmpApps
      @fmpApps 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a small panel and takes two days to charge the battery. Too small to do both.

      I have several battery Banks and they all stopped producing output when you put a charger to it extremely irritating and stupidity! Because I keep a solar panel on my backpack and plugged into the charger, so you end up needing two battery packs all the time!

    • @babelfishdude
      @babelfishdude 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few battery banks now that have the circuitry to do a simultaneous passive charge on discharge. They usually are rated for 2.4 amps, and unsurprisingly come from overseas. Adata P10050 is what I use.

    Is it waterproof?

    • @TrailAndMountain
      @TrailAndMountain  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not waterproof Jireh. It is water resistant so if you get rained on it should be fine but best practice would be to keep it away from water all the time! Thanks for chiming in my friend

    $99USD for a panel that charges at 0.55A~ (3.2Ah / 6hours at ~3.6V). Not worth it to save 100g. Eqiv to a ~3W panel

    What’s with the American flag and having more stars? Is that something sponsored by the reviewer or the manufacturer?

    • @TrailAndMountain
      @TrailAndMountain  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No sponsored at all..This solar panel is made in the USA

      It has a 3200 mAh battery built in. That's enough to recharge an iPhone 6+ one time. Anywho, thanks again for your comments and #getoutdoors

      easier to carry a 10000 mah power pack.Fits in your pocket.Rav power do good solar panels.If i need for many days hiking.Dont see the sense in this.So to me this is useless.
