If I closed my eyes I could be forgiven for thinking I was listening to Fijians singing the same hymn. There’s a universal simplicity and understanding of these songs of praise
My mother was raised as a Holdeman Mennonite, this is how she learned to sing this is how I learned. From that I got interested in barbershop. I met my wife afterwards who is eastern orthodox, now I sing in our Parrish choir..isons are hard
This is a legitimate Mennonite church. It is not to be confused with An Old Order Amish church. Please note that to become a member of a church like this one means setting aside your own preferences and assuming the identity and belief of the local church body. They appreciate what they have and guard it carefully. Conservative Mennonites and also Amish take great care to live out the Bible as best as they understand it. They receive much criticism for holding each other to a godly biblical standard. But the good fruit speaks for itself. I joined a conservative Mennonite church almost thirty years ago and have found them to be real and genuine Christians. But I have also been with them long enough to know that that they are not perfect (as they would be quick to admit). In fact there have been some very bad apples in their midst. Many of those leave on their own, some repent, and some had to be excommunicated. Membership is always voluntary. Also please understand that not all of these churches are the same in regards to how they understand and live out the New Testament teachings. There are some which are dead spiritually, others have become totally exclusive and believe they alone hold God's favor. Some have fallen for the lie that their salvation is gained by their own merits. But I am very happy to be apart of and accountable to the conservative brotherhood which I'm apart of. Praise the Lord! Any criticism about not being evangelistic is only partly valid at best. The truth is, a godly, pure, and set apart church is actually a powerful witness to the world. A church which tolerates sin and worldliness, (meaning it looks and acts like the world, and has the same values as the world) is a terrible witness to the world, and turns would-be believers into cynics. A church which makes an honest attempt to live out the Sermon On the Mount is very hard to find outside of the Amish and Mennonite circles. (This is especially true for more than one generation, most attempts last for only a few years before they become absorbed back into the culture around them)
@@janekay4147 We believe the Bible is God's inerrant Word and is to be lived out in all parts of our lives. 100%- No picking and choosing what to hold on to and what to disregard. 🙂 Have a blessed day my friend!
Weird question - but is there a reason the majority of men you see have their hands in their pockets? Is it just a 'most comfortable way to stand when you have nothing to do with your hands' or is there an expectation of it?
Denominations that don't use an organ are far better schooled in acapella singing. When I don't play, our singing sounds like a bag of cats in a washing machine.
If my understanding is right, Mennonites are followers of the Dutch or Frison priest Menno Simons and Amish the followers of the Swiss German speaking preacher Jakob Ammann. "Gott ist die Liebe" is consequently not a Mennonite but Amish song because the text is in Hochdeutsch or High-German. Rather disturbing !
This is the second and third verse of Johnson Oatman, Jr.'s 1916 hymn "We'll all be there". You can find sheet music (and the first verse) at this web address: hymnary.org/hymn/TH1918/86
Love this song and the congregation sings it well! Do you know if it is in a song book? I've looked in all of mine and on line and can't find it anywhere. Thanks for sharing!
@@joshuagarcia9873 its just how we do it i honestly don't think I can give a reason except for maybe just separating men and women (also I would like to note that these are not the same type of mennonites as I am but some things are the same)
THERE ARE A FEW PEOPLE INSPIRED BY GOD AND THEIR SINGING WHO CAN NOT HELP TO SHARE HIS BLESSINGS. AND THEY DO BLESS US. I am a Catholic and I really like your songs. In the name of Christ we are all brothers and sisters.
Same church, different pew!
Amin!!
Ditto! Amen
Works, won't get you there! But, Jesus will! 🙏
I urge you to read through the book of Ephesians. Specially chapter 2. Only grace will save you. Not by works or self merrit in someway.
The beauty of song is that all sing, good or bad, the voice overall is beautiful to both man and God.

You cracked me up with this comment! The Bible says, "Make a joyful NOISE unto the Lord". I guess cats make noise. Blessings!

I noticed that all the men are sitting on one side and the women on the other, that’s interesting.
First thing I noticed as well. Wonder if it has something to do with harmonics or if that's just how they do.

I would not be at all surprised, should I get to heaven, to find that the celestial choir was Mennonite. They sing so well.

Martin was correct.
Only Jesús saves.

Just so people know, minonite and Amish or eccemt from paying taxes!
That's not at all true. They pay taxes just like anyone else
David Wright actually that's not at all true. I was raised in the Mennonite church and everyone pays taxes.
