I tried the new formulated foundation and I love it! I have been watching videos to see if there was much of a difference between the old and new formula and a lot of people are saying the same thing, that there's not much of a difference. I definitely know why this foundation is cult classic.
Finally found my goto foundation about 2 years ago, and they had to go and change it. Wish they would have launched it as a different product and continued to produce the original.
The original formula was my HG! Customer for years. New “formulation” is worst than the worst drugstores I ever tried. They ruined it and lost a customer of a lifetime.
The sponge may not work because water doesn’t mix particularly well with silicone based foundations when it comes to application. It would work better if you applied it with your fingers or a brush like you did with the other side and then use the sponge to lightly pat over and soften/blend everything out. When you put the foundation directly onto a damp sponge the water can disturb the emollients and silicones that are in a stable emulsion within the foundation.

I remember back in the day this was the must have foundation, but i never liked it. On my skin it looked too heavy no matter how little i applied but it could look flawless on others. The blush is gorgeous though.. Have you tried the Sisley phyto teint perfection ? I've been looking for a more satin / matte foundation, it has got good reviews but it's hella expensive , at least here in Europe 😅
I need to get more colors of that blush...formula is awesome. I agree with you on the studio fix, beautiful at night but in the daylight...makeupy. I tend to prefer thinner formulas. One of my all time faves is Tom Ford Traceless Matte but I think it's getting discontinued...boo. I have been so curious about Sisley but yeah the price keeps me from going for it. I need to go to Nordstroms and see if they have a counter to play with the formulas before I pull the trigger. I've heard the concealer is the best but again like almost $100 for a concealer?? When I go THROUGH it? Yeah, no I think it just can't be that good.
So I went and swatched the Sisley in Nordstroms and it seemed really nice...they sent me home with a sample so I'm going to give it a try. I'm testing the new Tom Ford Architecture soft matte foundation (good GOD it was $150 even more than the Sisley which was $125) and so far it's really nice but definitely even more matte with more coverage than their Traceless Soft Matte. It's beautiful but I kinda think the old more siliconey formula was nicer...this one is more traditional matte with a lot of coverage.

You have to try in the store from a bottle that has been exposed to bright lights and God knows what. Some stores allow you to put a little in a container. But who knows what happened to that bottle, swatching on your hand is fine but do they really think i'm gonna put makeup on in the store, bring my brushes and everything and remove it again if i don't like it and then walk around with a blotched face when i go home 😏😂
You are so kind but some of that is good lighting...I just started doing this about a year ago and had to learn everything from scratch and believe me a beautiful camera and perfectly placed lighting to help fill shadows, blow out texture/redness etc. does a LOT. I'm going back on Accutane because my skin has been so challenging for me lately (sebaceous hyperplasias mostly now but also some acne) but that said, it's not all lighting etc. because the skincare/accutane has helped me immensely so I do really like sharing that there is hope for bad skin and stuff that works!

Thank you for the review! I have the new studio fix matte and also the radiance one. I love the finish of the radiance one but it pills with my skincare. The new studio fix matte I like but I’m still trying to figure out how it looks best because on me it’s very matte and dry. I think once I get which moisturizer, sunscreen and primer that goes with the new Mac Studio fix, I will like it. Also I think I need to wait to wear this is the dead of the hot summer because it is so dry on me. I have combo skin I guess. My skin is weird sometimes it’s dry sometimes oily in the t zone. Maybe my skin is combo to dry.
Yes! That's how I feel about it too and I swear the old one didn't quite have this issue...definitely for me this one is a little more matte but great coverage for discoloration etc. I was thinking of getting the radiance one so good to know it has pilling issues. I think I swatched it and wasn't super impressed with the texture anyway...they all kinda have this drag to them that can be a bit hard to work with I think. I like a really thin formula personally. Have you tried Tom Ford Traceless Matte? That one is literally my perfect soft matte foundation but I think it's getting discontinued...boo. I do want to try different primers under this new Mac Studio fix and see if it makes a difference especially since I'm having a wierd oily/dry spell myself.

I used to love MAC foundation. But I found the foundation would oxidize on me . 20:46 I looked like an Oompa Loompa! Did you have any issues with it oxidizing? Thank you!
I’ve heard this from other people too but it never did on me esp. the new one which frankly is sooo white I kinda wish it would! I wonder if it’s only certain colors that do it?
Oh and you surely do not look anywhere near 48. I’m an 23 y.o. esthetician with skin texture as well with a *super* oily t-zone (thanks genetics 😂) so I really appreciate creators who show real texture.

One thing I can say is that all that oiliness (and staying out of the sun at least on the face) probably did help a lot with keeping my skin younger looking so kind of a double edged sword. ;-)

I’m so glad I found your YT. It’s hard finding someone close to my age with oily skin. I recently bought Estée Lauder’s Double Wear and it’s be okay. Still doesn’t last more than 4 hours on my super oily skin. How do you think this MAC formula compares to the Double Wear?
Welcome! And yes, seems like way more dry skin folks in our age range for sure so it’s hard to find something that works with both aging skin and ultra oily at the same time. I’m not a fan of double wear because it looks sooo heavy on me and the oils break through in about 4 hours same as you. This MAC I think is better but a little on the makeupy side too. It did a better than average job controlling oil but not as good as the new Urban Decay face bond. I definitely prefer this one to Double wear though.
I love the reaction to the 24 hour claim! The last time I had makeup on for 24 hours I was in the hospital. That's the only way you'll find me not washing my face at the end of the night. Accidents and tragedies are the only exceptions. 😂

I think this one really looks best on oily skin types that want really full coverage...otherwise it is just too heavy and a bit drying. I don't find I reach for it at all months after I bought it. I think if you were under heavy lights and doing photography or something it might be great...everyday life...ehhh.

I just got it- it works beautifully on my skin (age 65). Its not too heavy, not too sheer.

Sane. It's horrible, and I've Bern using MAC for over 20 years.
The new formulation oxidize while you are applying lmao is the worst foundation 😅 never had that issue with the OG
