    • @itzlilyy

      Well let's talk about the original movie then first.
      It gives Lady a lot of scenes, as she is the main character, but have you ever noticed that Lady barely says a whole sentence and only like 2 to 5 words in most of the scenes? It just shows her moving about and listening to other dogs and people. The only part where she ACTUALLY talks a full sentence is probably only found in 3 scenes, (her singing, describing what the town looks like to Tramp and when Lady gets mad at Tramp after she leaves the pound).
      The sequel doesn't focus on Lady and it does the exact same thing as the Original. Lady talks as much as she did in the original, very little at all and again, her just moving about and listening to other dogs or people. She even sang more than she did in the original!
      So yeah it doesn't make a big difference. Lady got a lot more scenes in the original but she rarely ever talks. And again, the sequel isn't about Lady.

    One thing nobody ever mentions is that Scamp was actually created for comic strip tie-ins released at the time of the first movie and also had some full comic books for himself through the years. His comic strips continued being published through the 80s, and he occasionally has new stories in european Disney magazines even today.
    I mean it's weird to look at this movie as an adaptation of a classic long-running comic rather than a made up addition like Disney sequels usually are.

    • @SonicTheJackrabbit
      @SonicTheJackrabbit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The comic strips are honestly much better than this movie tbh (they're also written by the same man who wrote the short story the first movie was based on, Ward Greene). Scamp is a much more likable character in those as he isn't an edgy rebellious teenager and more like a clumsy yet innocent child.

    This is a real dumb nitpick I have but the thing that bugged me with this movie is the design of Lady and Tramp's pups.
    It is a trope I, as a designer, hate. When children and parents look like they are frikking clones.
    Why is it so hard to design children that have characteristics of BOTH parents, not just one of them. (the first movie did this tho, so not really this movie's fault)
    I mean ALL the girls look exactly like Lady while Scamp is a clone of Tramp.
    They are a mixed breed for (.) sake, put SOME creativity inthere. Make Scamp have a brown fur coat and one of the girls a grey one for ex.
    Or give a girl Tramp's ears or Scamp Lady's eyes, I mean something please instead of just cloning them with just a younger version.
    This would even make a plotpoint in the story more sense. I found it a bit weird that it took Buster so long to recognize Scamp as a son of Tramp while, again, he looks exactly like him!
    Giving him some traits of Lady in his appearance would fix that a bit. (yet again, I assume Buster knows what Lady looks like but I don't know that for sure, he could have just heard her name only)
    Yes I'm overthinking this way too much I'm leaving :D

    You know one thing was always strange to me...
    Even as a kid I always thought that Angel was waaaayyy older than this main puppy
    I mean we know for sure that he is a puppy its coming out from plot
    He may be small dog after his mother but we know that he is still very young, around less than one year
    And when Angel have this line that family had a new baby or moved or have alergy, I always thought that lot of time had passed
    Even if every example happened just once
    I doubt that some family decides to get rid of puppy inmediately after get to know that woman is pregnant, so for me few months had passed, scenario similar to first movie
    If someone moved they probably wouldnt leave small puppy so she might be lost or they just goed to vacation but for few weeks at least she had to be around they house and wait for them
    She look like some half breed of fancy dog so I guess that some people bought her when she was very little, but had alergy, then she goed to some couple but they expected to have a baby so they gave her to people who (i think after around a month later) leaved the house
    So she began to live on the streets
    It might be just a year but she just appears with her backstory and her personality as adult dog

      Homeless children (or puplies in that case), mature faster than kids who live at home because they (unfortunately) have to, in order to survive. Angel was just a very unlucky puppy, that's why she is so mature and has that backstory. Plus about the fancy breed, she looks like a Pomeranian (her folded ear may be because of an accident or something). Pomeranian puppies are expensive indeed.

    Yeah! Next selections are going to be quite exciting!
    As for Lady and the Tramp 2, yeah, I'm with you. While it's definitely not the worst out there, it's never really been for me, even as a kid. It felt kind of at odds with the original for several of the reasons you just mentioned, I always found Scamp to be annoying (and I didn't really think his voice fit the character), I didn't like how Tramp succumbed to the typical "once-cool-and-fun-protagonist-now-becomes-a-stern-and-boring-parent" syndrome you find in these kinds of movies, and even as a kid, I always felt like the "wanting to run away from home and be free of rules" was kind of talking down to me in a way (like if I'm not happy even though I have a roof over my head,that just means I'm not grateful enough). I just feel that there are better ways teach kids to count their blessings, even while accepting what comes with them.
    And yes, I know that Simba typically went through the same kind of role that Scamp did in Lion King 2, but at least we get to see him bonding with Kiara over a song early in the movie, showing that he loves her and has her best interest in mind, and is not just a total stick-in-the-mud. And Kiara, unlike Scamp, actually did understand her father's motives enough to go back to him by the end, even if she was rebellious and even a little whiny at times.

    I think what the movie could’ve done to fix Tramp leaving the junkyard dogs is to instead say that something happened a long time ago that Tramp didn’t like and left Buster as a result. Or hell you could instead have it be something like in Berserk where Tramp felt as though he wasn’t really free when he was with Buster’s gang and felt tied down, and left because he wanted to be on his own. It would’ve inserted a narrative yes but it would give better justification for why Tramp was in his own when we saw him in the original film. But no instead they say he left after Tramp got together with Lady creating a massive plot hole in the movie just to insert an old rival for Tramp that wasn’t needed.

    I thought this sequel was pretty decent and good at the same time. And I will agree that the majority of the songs do feel way to modern for its time, which contrasts badly, due to the time period it is set in. But, it does have its fans and it’s one of my friend’s favourite direct to DVD sequels.

    • @Tombola1993
      @Tombola1993 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      marianne mccrank Absolutely. The animation quality of Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 is more like TV series quality compared to all the other Disney Direct to DVD sequels in the ranks of Belle’s Magical World and Atlantis 2: Milo’s Return.

    • @Tombola1993
      @Tombola1993 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      marianne mccrank I know the animation quality of Stitch the Movie and Leroy and Stitch were not on par with he original or Stitch Has A Glitch, since they were stuck to a TV budget as they were meant to serve as the beginning and end or the original Lilo and Stitch tv series. But unlike Belle’s Magical World, Hunchback 2 and Milo’s Return, their quality looks very good with a much brighter colour palette.
      This is my opinion. What do you reckon?

    • @Tombola1993
      @Tombola1993 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      marianne mccrank Well, to tell you the truth, I did find Stitch has a Glitch upsetting. I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t.
      To be honest, I preferred Stitch the Movie and Leroy and Stitch, because the Experiments are the best part of the franchise. Especially in the TV show.
      The Anime afterwards was ok, but I only stuck with it for the return of old experiments and introducing some new ones we never seen before. The Chinese series, however, even though it was short-lived and none of the original 625 experiments were present, I did like how Jumba decided to make experiments based on Chinese Mythological creatures. Plus, even though the majority of the show was digitised, much like the style of Lion Guard, it wasn’t too cutesy as they stuck with Chris Sanders’ original style and a couple of the hand-drawn episodes, especially episode 11 was very reminiscent to the original series with the Chinese experiments causing chaos.

    • @Tombola1993
      @Tombola1993 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @marianne mccrank I absolutely agree. Don't get me wrong, I think Leroy and Stitch was a perfect send-off. But with the series, however, I thought it was very enjoyable with a massive amount of creativity with the experiment designs, along with their powers and abilities and the crazy scenarios Lilo and the gang get into.
      I also liked the suspense of the experiment pod activation scenes, which adds a lot of tension and spontaneity, based on what it will look like after activation. Plus I like how the majority of their names are relevant to their appearances and powers. I know them all by heart.

    Not to mention this film is pretty much identical to Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco. Disney was too lazy to come up with an original story, so they just ripped off an old unsuccessful sequel to another classic film of theirs.

    Personally this is one of the less painful sequels. I will agree I don’t like how it modernized certain aspects, but it’s mainly a KIDS’ movie. I will agree I didn’t like how much of an ungrateful brat Scamp was half the time, but I couldn’t stand how his sisters only appeared for like 5 minutes tops. And most of their dialogue was about how embarrassing their brother was because they’re “typical rich girl snobs with the black sheep brother who they can’t believe they’re related to” Yeah, I don’t like how they tried giving Tramp such a stupid backstory by having him old “friends” with such a jerk who clearly doesn’t care about anyone but himself. It literally confirms in the original movie Tramp had owners that sadly abandoned him when they had a baby, hence why he tries warning Lady a new baby is nothing but bad news for dogs because of his personal experience. Only to learn Lady’s owners would never abandon her and love Junior and Lady all the same, and they’re willing to take Tramp in for saving Junior’s life from a filthy rat. Anyways, I really loved Angel’s character. She kinda reminds me of Meg, a girl who’s tough on the outside but deep down just has emotional baggage and a broken heart, and manages to open her heart again. Personally, I think having side characters like Trusty and Jaques were kinda unnecessary because all they do is dumb down the characters, especially Trusty. That’s an issue when it comes to trying to bring back every single character from the original story, they fit awkwardly into the story and makes them out of character. Or you have sequels like Pocahontas 2 where a majority of side characters aside Nakoma and Powhatan got completely cut out, making them even more forgettable in the original when they had impact on the original plot (like Thomas and Kocuom) anyways, I feel the junkyard dogs were entirely unnecessary too. Why not just reintroduce the dogs from the pound? Otherwise all we get are a group of dogs that look like the junk version of Oliver and Company, none of them actually have any story as they simultaneously abandon Buster as soon as he’s trapped in the trash heap. Like, what was the point of them loving their lives as mutts if they like the idea of having a human??

    Review 101 dalmatians 2( i know patreon. and im a broke teen that cant fund you) but i wanna see your perspective on that movie. Like 101 dalmatians the first lady and the tramp had class and was smart and had lots of care. Peggy lee is phenomenal and lady being a female character is active but keeps a feminine traits. Side note. Whenever people write femailes they write as males. You know tough stern and ....Tough. But they write lady as an active character with her gentleness and caring and determaination. When i first watched the sequel i was really mad that they focused on scamp and threw away tramp and his charisma and lady. Overall that is my opinion. You probably might not see this comment but good video as usual 👌😊

It made realize now what Buster's been going through, kinda like how King Triton felt, and hated humans just because of what they've done to his wife, Buster didn't want Tramp to go through the same thing he did when he once had a home

    You’re right about one of the biggest problems with this film being its protagonist. We are shown that Scamp is super selfish. Granted, children are naturally selfish, so that’s to be expected. However, I don’t think it was handled properly. It’s good that Angel scolds him for his actions and I like how she brings out his good side. The problem lies in Scamp’s abrupt turn to good after pushing everyone away. It’s realistic for Scamp to wish he was home once he’s caught, childish nature and all, but I wish more time was spent on some sort of inner conflict for him.
