I use a damp microfiber cloth to distribute the ZEP. Place microfiber cloth in bucket of warm water, wring it out as much as possible, dip cloth in a bowl of ZEP, wring it out in the bowl, fold cloth in 1/4ths, distribute a light coat on car (or camper, or boat) once you make it all the way around the car it will be ready for a second coat. ( I usually rinse and wring out the cloth after each trip around the vehicle (this will keep the cloth fro getting gummed up) It takes several coats for it to start looking good, the first or second coat looks like crap. Don’t give up. About 4 or 5 coats it will look great. On cars or trucks with rubber window trim it will make the old rubber shine as well. Find a shady spot, it will dry too fast in direct sun 🌞
It looks like the hive mind was right about the patina preservation procedure. Mind you it did make me cringe a bit cleaning the car with scouring pads and Ajax 😂😂😂😂
I was hesitant about the Scotchpads as well, but the paint had already lost any factory gloss it may have had so we figured why not! The Zep's held up to regular washes really well since doing the work too

might as well get a couple rattle cans of spraymax glamour 2k clear coat. has hardener in the bottom of the can u activate and shake up.

Wet sanding and buffing would have brought a nice shine as well
Sanding and buffing won’t seal the patina (light surface rust)
