I’m 52yrs old now but I was born in Manchester and moved away when I was 6yrs old. Ever since I had a memory of an “oldie worldie” place my mum went to shopping. The look inside stuck with me and I would try to describe it to my parents so they could tell me where it is and I could go and see it again. They hadn’t a clue what I was talking about and said it must be something from my imagination when I was just a kid. But the image wouldn’t go away and for years wondered if it was actually real or did I just imagine it. BUT then your video popped up in my recommended list. As you filmed walking into the Barton Arcade I honestly nearly cried because there in your video was this mystical place from my early childhood. Thank you so much for uploading this video and showing me that the this place, that stuck with me all this time that I started to believe I’d made up in my head, is real and now I know where it is. Silly how things that, to others, seem so trivial from your childhood can effect you this strongly!
@@shaz2761 I moved from Manchester to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, until I was 18. I then moved to St Petersburg, Florida. I love going “home” to Manchester to see all my family.
I lived there for 22 years up to 1999, and worked in the Town Hall for the last 3 of them. Manchester is the best city in the UK. It’s easy to walk around it, the retail therapy is amazing, the pubs and nightlife is second to none, and the architecture (both old and new) is stunning. Also, an industrial, sporting and musical history beyond compare. It is, in the local vernacular, ‘top’!
I'm ex-manc, I've lived in south England, for past 50 years. Manchester, from my time looks now completely unrecognisable ( for the better!!) Peace to all.
I lived in Manchester from 2014 to 2015. I have so many happy memories of the city. This clip literally brings all memories of my life at that time. Miss you, Manchester.
Man Manchester has changed so much i was born in manchester i remember going down to tibb street at the weekend i was only a young kid those days thanks for the memories
for me was 1st time in Manchester -- i don't know how was before, but i cant wait to go back once everything is back to normal -- i really want to see the nightlife :)
I moved away from Manchester when I was 6yrs old. I’m 52 now but I also remember Tibb St. I you to bug my mum and dad every time we went into the city centre for them to take me to the joke shop on Tibb St. I used to think that place was the best.
My granddaughter is visiting Manchester for a month,Thought I d look some walking tours so as to seem knowledable on the subject so when she is back we can exchange ideas.
I’ve lived all my life in Manchester, while I know you only have so much time, there were some areas that you missed which are essentially old Manchester, like China town and the gay village , both are very popular in Manchester. Also the area around the cathedral wasn’t shown much and spinneyfields quarter. Your walk actually went into Salford which wasn’t needed, a bit drab. However I did enjoy it, made me realise just how much Manchester centre has changed in the last 60 odd years .Must have brought back memories for lots of people, however no doubt with all the changes, it would make it hard for them to know where they were in relation to the old Manchester.
Black seems to be the dominant colour of clothes and not many obese people. This is the first vid I've seen of Manchester City Centre though I have followe Man Utd for over 60 years.

To be able to walk down Market Street in December that easily will probably never happen again....that time of the year you usually would not be able to move because of the amount of people.
There's some horrible post war dross, Picadilly Gardens terracotta like building and the square is horrible. However Manchester is a great place and I wish it all the best. I do want to see some actual amazing design supertall skyscrapers.
Hi LADmob! Great footage of my home city. Would you mind if I used some of it in my music video for my song 'Manchester'? I will, of course, acknowledge you in the credits section on my TH-cam channel. Cheers!
@@LADmob Thanks for granting your permission but in the end I didn't need to use any of your footage. Thought you might like to see the finished product anyway! th-cam.com/video/yKUu2t0DcpI/w-d-xo.html
A great video on a great city however I'm disappointed in the way people are ignoring the whole COVID problem. Vendors without masks, food open to anything that falls on it. There are signs all over the place yet they seem to be ignored. No wonder the UK is under lockdown after lockdown. At this rate, I'll never get to visit.
Hi Christopher , this is the second lockdown ( most Europe been in 2 lockdowns ) - in uk masks aren't mandatory in public spaces - this video was filmed early December lol :) Hope your are doing well my friend and thanks for watching my videos !

What a charming city. Thanks for this great video.

Brilliant walk.
Thank you for the stroll, tough with spans that sometimes make the viewer "dizzy" and disoriented. Great video neverthless, Ladmob.

Tib st wasn’t in the walk, although if it was you wouldn’t recognise it. Years ago it was renowned as the street of pet shops.

Haha, hope not mate :)
you didn't see the Manchester town hall
Yes it was all boarded up with white boards around it as it’s being renovated ,
Wow. Ang ganda ng lugar mo po. Pabisita rin sa bahay ko.
Watching this video made me sad. Manchester is not what it used to be, then again nowhere in England is anymore.
Thanks for the video though man.
What do you mean? It's getting better
Shame... Manchester is now mostly boarded up, closed and with a serious homeless problem. How Manchester used to be!!
What do you mean boarded up
@@xx4884xx he's right. A lot of shops are now boarded up due to the pandemic.
There's more to see in Manchester, you probably don't know your way around
The same shops you see in any town or city in the country. I much prefer the market town where I live - less traffic, less crime.
You have two Selfridges and a Harvey Nicholls in your market town do you?
@@paulwild3676 No, why do you ask?

Manchester city centre has always been the best but the rest especially north Manchester is an absolute crime hole.
