He accidentally pushed her down the stairs, resulting in her death. Sunny is now afraid of going up or down stairs, especially during the night when his hallucinations are most prevalent. *The rest is extra information that isn't related to stairs, but ill still explains it in case anyone is curious.* Basil, one of Sunny and Mari's friends, was in shock and refused to believe that Sunny killed Mari. Basil came up with an idea. They faked her suicide and hanged her on her favorite tree. When they left, they saw one of Mari's eyes looking at them, which permanently traumatized them even more. Their friend group eventually split up due to Mari's "suicide."

Each time I play the song, even though it sucks right now, it feels like I'm just completely free and pure.
