still boggles my mind how giselle has spent all of her life in Japan/Korea and somehow was able to shape her accent so well that it sounds straight up native. when I first heard her speak English I thought she was from LA. extremely fluent and proficient.

It's easy to pick up because their school is taught completely in English and many of their teachers are either from the US, Canada, or other English speaking countries

I guess Giselle's parents communicate in English in their house since it must be their second language. The way Giselle speaks Japanese, she doesn't sound fluent (unlike non native but not fluent), so even in her house, she speaks English beside international school. That's why she speaks English so fluently. English must be the most comfortable language to speak for her

Giselle grew up in Japan attending to an international school and Somi moved to South Korea when she was only 6 months old and has lived there since. Tbh she probably had less exposure to English than Giselle since most of her influence in the language came from just her Dad and most likely the internet too while Giselle attended a school that immersed her in English and then also the internet helps too lol.

Most people forget Somi used to attend to a school full of foreign, english speaking kids or kids used to live overseas back in her middle school, i just forgot if its still the same scenario in her elem years. So her english is not only used in her house with her dad before.
